The purpose of this study was to observe the sealing ability and durability of All-Bond 2, Gluma Bonding System, Scotch bond 2 and Superbond D-liner which are dentin bonding agents used as desensitizing agents. The durability of the sealing ability of the materials were compared after 0, 140, 420, 840 tooth brushing strokes. 120 extracted teeth were divided into 5 groups and the agents were applied to the exposed dentin. No agents was applied on group I, the control group. Each specimen went through thermocycling from $5^{\circ}$ to $55^{\circ}C$, 200 times. Each group was devide into 4 subgroups and artificial tooth brushing strokes were done for 0, 140, 420, 840 times. Finally the specimens were stored in 0.5 % methylene blue solution for 24 hours in a incubator set at $37^{\circ}C$. The tooth were sectioned perpendicular to the long axis and the dye penetration ratio to the pulp was measured. The following results were obtained. 1. All four dentin bonding agents initially showed excellent sealing ability. 2. All-bond 2, Gluma Bonding System and Superbond D-liner showed durability of dentinal tubule sealing effect after 840 strokes(6-week) artificial tooth brushing. 3. Scotchbond 2 showed a significant decrease in sealing ability after 420 strokes(3-week) artificial tooth brushing. (P<0.05).

PURPOSE. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pretreatment of three different universal adhesives (Single Bond Universal [SBU], All-Bond Universal [ABU], and Prime&Bond universal [PBU]) on the bonding durability of an adhesive (Panavia F 2.0, PF) and a conventional (Duo-Link, DL) resin cements to air-abraded zirconia. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Rectangular-shaped zirconia specimens were prepared. The chemical composition and surface energy parameters of the materials were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and contact angle measurement, respectively. To evaluate resin bonding to the zirconia, all the bonding specimens were immersed in water for 24 h and the specimens to be aged were additionally thermocycled 10000 times before the shear bond strength (SBS) test. RESULTS. The materials showed different surface energy parameters, including the degree of hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity. While the DL/CON (no pretreatment) showed the lowest SBS and a significant decrease in the value after thermocycling (P < .001), the PF/CON obtained a higher SBS value than the DL/CON (P < .001) and no decrease even after thermocycling (P = .839). When the universal adhesives were used with DL, their SBS values were higher than the CON (P < .05), but the trend was adhesive-specific. In conjunction with PF, the PF/SBU produced the highest SBS followed by the PF/ABU (P = .002), showing no significant decrease after thermocycling (P > .05). The initial SBS of the PF/PBU was similar to the PF/CON (P = .999), but the value decreased after thermocycling (P < .001). CONCLUSION. The universal adhesive pretreatment did not necessarily show a synergistic effect on the bonding performance of an adhesive resin cement, whereas the pretreatment was beneficial to bond strength and durability of a conventional resin cement.

Hot AC anodising has been evaluated us pre-treatment for aluminium prior to structural adhesive bonding. Phosphoric and sulphuric acid hot AC anodising showed very promising adhesion promoter capabilities with durability comparable with the best standard DC anodising procedures. AC anodising does not required etching prior to anodising and offers u pre-treatment time down to 20 seconds. The interface/interphase between the aluminium substrate and the adhesive was investigated in order to get a better understanding of the involved adhesion mechanisms and to explain the long-tenn properties. The alkaline medium formed at the oxide layer/adhesive interface has been shown to induce a partial dissolution of the oxide layer leading to the formation of metallic ions which diffuse in the adhesive (EPMA measurements). The effect of diffusion of the Al ions on adhesion and joint durability is still uncertain but studies showed that pre-bond moisture affected the joints durability and to some extent the diffusion length. specially for DC anodised samples. So far no direct correlation could be established between the diffusion length d and the joints durability but new trials with better control over the elapsed time between bonding and adhesive curing are expected to help getting a better understanding of the involved mechanisms.
The limited durability of resin-dentin bonds severely compromises the longevity of composite resin restorations. Resin-dentin bond degradation might occur via degradation of water-rich and resin sparse collagen matrices by host-derived matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). This review article provides overview of current knowledge of the role of MMPs in dentin matrix degradation and four experimental strategies for extending the longevity of resin-dentin bonds. They include: (1) the use of broadspectrum inhibitors of MMPs, (2) the use of cross-linking agents for silencing the activities of MMPs, (3) ethanol wet-bonding with hydrophobic resin, (4) biomimetic remineralization of water-filled collagen matrix. A combination of these strategies will be able to overcome the limitations in resin-dentin adhesion.

This study experimentally evaluate the bonding performance of repair and strengthening materials. It is very important problem to justify bonding properties between repair and strengthening materials and old concrete. Many previous research and investigation showed that bonding strength of reinforcing materials determines the strengthening effect and the durability of repair work. Therefore, menifestation of bonding properties and the improvement of bonding performance of repair and strengthening materials are very important. In order to improve the perforamnce of repair work, it needs to investigate the behavior of bonding materials, such as stress distribution along the bonding area and the long term performance of the material. The target repair methods are steel plate addition technique and repair mortar method, and the test parameters studied in this paper include epoxy thickness, bonding surface texture, and bonding area.
Statement of problem: Literature showed different results on the durability of bonded ceramic restoration. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to review the effect of surface treatment of ceramics in resin-ceramic bond to get predictable results. Material and method: PubMed data base was utilized to search the articles which were written in English and published in 1986 and 2006. Some electronic published articles which are forthcoming to publish in paper were also included for this review. This review article focused on the effect of acid etching and silane application on the silica based ceramics. The durability of resin-ceramic bonding, the methodology for bond strength test and resin bonding to alumina or zirconia based ceramics were compared in brief at the end of the review. Results and Conclusion: the effect of silane application can be influenced by the contaminations of saliva or solutions. Micromechanical retention by acid etching as well as silane application plays an important role in initial and durable bond strength between resin and ceramic. The use of phosphate modified resin cement following tribochemical silica coating and silane application produced best bond strength for alumina or zirconia based ceramics.

The bonding process of LCD panel is attaching an inner lead to an outer lead in the production line of LCD panel module. It is composed of an OLB process and a PCB bonding process. Since bonding tool assembly is one of the core parts of the bonding equipment that determines the durability and performance of the final product, much design efforts to enhance uniformity and efficiency of the process have been made. In this paper, FE analyses have been employed to determine the bonding tool size. Bonding tool of long bar shape has been simplified as a piece with same heater pitch, and appropriate boundary conditions such as convection and radiation are considered. Thermal analysis results by the FEM have been validated by the experiments. With the use of FE analysis varies design parameters and the corresponding effects have been evaluated. It was observed that the approach presented in this paper could be employed for the design of LCD module bonding tool.
The purpose of this study was to ascertain the bonding durability of self-etching dentin bonding agents to dentin by means of shear bonding strength. Several acid-etching dentin bonding system (ESPE Z100) and self-etching dentin bonding systems (DEN-FIL, GRADIA DIRET) were used. The occlusion surface of human molars were ground flat to expose dentin and treated with the etch bonding system according to manufactures instruction and followed by composite resin application. After 24hours of storage at 37$^{\circ}C$, the shear bonding strength of the specimens was measured in a universal testing machine with a 1mm/min crosshead speed. An one-way analysis of variance and the scheffe test were performed to identify significant differences (p<0.05). The bonded interfacial surfaces and treated dentin surfaces were examined using a SEM. Through the analysis of shear bond strength data and micro-structures of dentin-resin interfaces, following results are obtained. In dentin group, the shear bond strength of DEN-FIL showed statistical superiority in comparison to the other groups and followed by ESPE Z100 and GRADIA DIRECT (p<0.05).

Dimethyl Ether(DME) engine use a highly efficient alternative fuel having a great quantity of oxygen and has a advantage no polluting PM gas. The existing DME fuel cam material is a highly expensive carbide alloy, and it is difficult to take a price advantage. Therefore the study of replacing body area with inexpensive steel material excluding piston shoe and contact area which demands high characteristics is needed. The development of WC-Ni base carbide alloy optimal bonding composition technique was accomplished in this study. To check out the influence of bonding temperature and time, bonding characteristics of sintering temperature was experimented. The hardness of specimen and bonding rate were measured using ultrasound equipment. The bonding state of each condition was excellent, and the thickness of mid-layer, temperature and maintaining time were measured. The mid-layer thickness according to bonding temperature and maintaining time were observed with optical microscope. We analyzed the micro-structural analysis, formation of bonding specimen, wafer fabrication and fuel cam abrasion test. Throughout this study, we confirmed that the fuel cam for DME engine which demands high durability against velocity and pressure is excellent.

Bonding strength of reinforcing material has been recognized to be the most important factor which determines the strengthening effect and the durability of repair work. The properties of bonding layers affects the stress distribution at the end of the plate, therefore the behavior of bonding layer has to be investigated. In this study, the stress distribution at the end of the bonded plate has been tested and compared with Roberts' analysis. Shear stress and vertical normal stress at the end of strengtening plate are analysized and the effedts of bonding layer thickness, plate thickness and plate length on the bonding behavior are tested. The test results showed that thickness is one of the most important factor, which is the thinner the thickness, the smaller the maximum stress.
