  • A fiber-optic magnetic sensor system for the detection of small ac magnetic field(200Hz-2 kHz) was constructed. Magnetic field sensing part was fabricated by bonding a section of optical fiber to amorphous metallic glass(2605SC) having large magnetostriction effect. And with the directional coupler, all fiber type Mach-Zehnder interferometer was constructed to measure the variation of the external magnetic field by translating it into the optical phase shift in the interferometer. The signal fading problem of the interferometer, which is due to random phase drifts originated from the environment, i.e., temperature fluctuation, vibrations, etc., was elliminated by feedback phase compensation. This allows the sensitivity to be maintained at the maximum by keeping the interferometer in quadrature phase condition. The frequency response of metallic glass was found to be nearly flat in the range of 90 Hz-2 kHz and dc bias field for the maximum ac response was 3.5 Oe. The interferometer output showed good linearity over the range $\pm$0.5 Oe. For 1 kHz ac magnetic field the scale factor S and the minimum detectable magnetic field were measured to be 8.0 rad/Oe and $3X10^{-6} Oe/\sqrt{Hz}$at 1 Hz detection bandwidth respectively.

  • Fluorinated amorphous carbon (a-C:F) films were prepared by an electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition (ECRCVD) system using a gas mixture of $C_2F_6$ and $CH_4$ over a range of deposition temperature (room temperature ~ 300$^{\circ}C$). 500$^{\AA}C$ thick DLC films were pre-deposited on Si substrate to improve the strength between substrate and a-C:F film. The chemical bonding structure, chemical composition, surface roughness and dielectric constant of a-C:F films deposited by varying the deposition temperature were studied with a variety of techniques, such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and capacitance-voltage(C-V) measurement. Both deposition rate and fluorine content decreased linearly with increasing deposition temperature. As the deposition temperature increased from room temperature to 300$^{\circ}C$, the fluorine concentration decreased from 53.9at.% down to 41.0at.%. The dielectric constant increased from 2.45 to 2.71 with increasing the deposition temperature from room temperature to 300$^{\circ}C$. The film shrinkage was reduced with increasing deposition temperature. This results ascribed by the increased crosslinking in the films at the higher deposition temperature.

  • This study was performed to find out the exposure level of mixed organic solvents, excretion of urinary hippuricacid and subjective symptoms according to the exposure of organic solvents of female workers who works on 5 shoes manufacturing industries in Taejon City from 24, september to 20, october 1993. The studied groups were divided into 3 groups that were consist of direct exposure group(48 workers), indirect exposure group(49 workers) and non-exposure group(68 workers) to the organic solvents. The exposure levels of toluene of direct exposure group which $89.86{\pm}56.20ppm$ had higher than that of indirect exposure group which had $40.23{\pm}47.21ppm$. In the exposure level of mixed organic solvent(R-value), direct exposure group was $2.84{\pm}1.53$ and exceeded approximatly 3 times the R-value. Whereas, indirect exposure group was not exceeded the R-value as $0.80{\pm}0.61$. In the excretion level of urinary hippuric acid, direct exposure group was $1.78{\pm}1.25g/l$, indirect exposure group was $1.22{\pm}0.93g/l$ and non-exposure group was $0.51{\pm}0.18g/l$ respectively. Therefore both direct exposure group and indirect exposure group were significantly higher than non-exposure group(P<0.01). In the correlation between toluene levels and urinary hippuric acid level, the direct exposure group had positive correlation(R=0.8309, P<0.01), also indirect exposure group had positive correlation(R=0.5859, P<0.05) and also in the correlation between the R value of mixed organic solvents and the urinary hippuric acid levels, the direct exposure group had positive correlation(R=0.4492, P<0.05), and indirect exposure group had ositive correlation(R=0.7911, P<0.01). In the complain rates of the worker's subjective symptoms at work, both direct exposure group and indirect exposure group were higher than non-exposure group(P<0.05, P<0.01). But the sujective symptoms of "floating sensation" of direct exposure group had significantly higher than indirect exposure group. In the percent of subjective symptoms complaints during the worker's daily life, both direct exposure group and indirect exposure group had generally more statistical significance than nonexposure group(P<0.01), direct exposure group had not statistical significant difference from indirect exposure group. As the results mentioned above, it has been analysed that the indirect at the adjacent manufaturing process are exposed to the considerable amount of solvent. Therefore, I think that there should be the betterment of surrounding through the complete working environment management to the occurrence source of the organic solvent, the changes of health management system to the indirect-exposed workers, and the systematic management of the special medical examination and the like.

  • Calcium hydroxide is used as a root canal medicament with its several pharmacological effects. However, it has been known that the usage of calcium hydroxide in the root canal system before canal filling with gutta-percha and zinc oxide eugenol-based cement induced change in the properties of root canal cement which might adversely affect sealing ability of the canal filling. The purpose of this study was to identify the reactivity of calcium hydroxide-eugenol compound made from chemical interaction of between calcium hydroxide and zinc oxide eugenol. Chemical properties of calcium hydroxide, eugenol, zinc oxide eugenol, calcium hydroxide-eugenol and calcium hydroxide-zinc oxide eugenol compound were analyzed using XRD. FT-IR Spectrophotometer and FT-NMR Spectrometer. The results were as follows: 1. The compound made from interaction between calcium hydroxide and zinc oxide eugenol was as follows : 2. Calcium hydroxide was shown to make chemical bond (ionic bond) with eugenol. 3. Since bonding between $Ca^{2+}$ and eugenol is simple ionic nature, under water existence, calcium hydroxide-eugenol compound may be ionized easily and its physical property be deteriorated.

  • Following the earthquake in Gyeongju (2016) and Pohang (2017), South Korea is no longer a safe place for earthquakes. Accordingly, the need for shelters suitable for disaster environments is increasing. In this study, a lightweight composite panel was used to produce post-disaster housing for refugees to compensate for the disadvantages of existing evacuation facilities. For this purpose, an evaluation of structural performance and thermal environment for post-disaster housing for refugees composed of lightweight composite panels was performed. To assess the structural performance, a lateral loading test was conducted on a system made of lightweight composite panels. The specimens consisted of two types, which differed according to the bonding method, as a variable. In addition, the seismic and wind loads were calculated in accordance with KBC 2016 and compared with the experimental results. Regarding the energy performance, optimization of south-facing window planning and window-wall ratio and solar heat gain coefficient were analyzed to minimize heating, cooling, and lighting energy. As a result, the specimens composed of lightweight composite panels will perform sufficiently safely for lateral loads and the optimized window planning will lead to a low-energy operation.

  • a-Si is commonly considered as a primary candidate for the formation of passivation layer in heterojunction (HIT) solar cells. However, there are some problems when using this material such as significant losses due to recombination and parasitic absorption. To reduce these problems, a wide bandgap material is needed. A wide bandgap has a positive influence on effective transmittance, reduction of the parasitic absorption, and prevention of unnecessary epitaxial growth. In this paper, the adoption of a-SiOx:H as the intrinsic layer was discussed. To increase lifetime and conductivity, oxygen concentration control is crucial because it is correlated with the thickness, bonding defect, interface density (Dit), and band offset. A thick oxygen-rich layer causes the lifetime and the implied open-circuit voltage to drop. Furthermore the thicker the layer gets, the more free hydrogen atoms are etched in thin films, which worsens the passivation quality and the efficiency of solar cells. Previous studies revealed that the lifetime and the implied voltage decreased when the a-SiOx thickness went beyond around 9 nm. In addition to this, oxygen acted as a defect in the intrinsic layer. The Dit increased up to an oxygen rate on the order of 8%. Beyond 8%, the Dit was constant. By controlling the oxygen concentration properly and achieving a thin layer, high-efficiency HIT solar cells can be fabricated.

  • This paper introduces research on the hinge joint of modular structure joints using finite element analysis. The modular structure has a characteristic in that it is difficult to expect the integrity of columns and beams between unit modules because the construction is carried out such that the modules are stacked. However, the current modular design ignores these structural characteristics, considers the moment transmission for the lateral force, and analyzes it in the same manner as the existing steel structure. Moreover, to fasten the moment bonding, bolts are fastened outside and inside the module, resulting in an unreasonable situation in which the finish is added after assembly. To consider the characteristics that are difficult to expect, such as unity, a modular structure system using hinge joints was proposed. This paper proposed and reviewed the basic theory of joints by devising a modified scissors model that is modified from the scissors model used in other research to verify the transmission of load when changing from the existing moment junction to a hinge junction. Based on the basics, the results were verified by comparing them with Midas Gen, a structural analysis program. Additionally, the member strength and usability were reviewed by changing the modular structure designed as a moment joint to a hinge joint.

  • The manufacturing technology of composite material is applicable with filler characteristics maintaining low cost, flexibility, and easy process to develope the various functional composite materials. To realize functional composites, various researches on the high performance of composite materials using graphene as a filler is being actively conducted. In this study, physical and chemical properties were investigated using graphene to improve high functional properties. Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using graphane nanoplatelet (GNP), and reduced graphene oxide (R-GO) was formed by reducing GO. The physical properties of GO and R-GO were analyzed, and the reliability of the manufactured method was reviewed by comparing that of GNP results. As a result of analysis by Raman spectroscopy, in the case of R-GO, it was confirmed that the intensity of D-peak and G-peak decreased compared to GO, and an increase of 0.08 was observed through the ratio of ID/IG. For the FTIR results, GO and RGO has a repeating C-C and C=C connection structure unlike GNP. GO and R-GO show clear peaks for C-O bond, C=C bond, C=O bond, and O-H bonding. As a result of X-ray diffraction analysis, GNP showed a wide diffraction peak at 25.86° of (002) plane characteristics, whereas GO and R-GO showed peaks corresponding to (001) and (100) planes. It was also found that the interlayer distance of GO increased by about 2.6 times compared to GNP.

  • The objective of this study was to apply the vibration technique to reduce the viscosity of bonding adhesives and thereby compare the bond strength and resin penetration in enamel and dentin achieved with those gained using the conventional technique and vibration technique. For enamel specimens, thirty teeth were sectioned mesio-distally. Sectioned two parts were assigned to same adhesive system but different treatment(vibration vs. non-vibration). Each specimen was embedded in 1-inch inner diameter PVC pipe with a acrylic resin. The buccal and lingual surfaces were placed so that the tooth and the embedding medium were at the same level. The samples were subsequently polished silicon carbide abrasive papers. Each adhesive system was applied according to its manufacture's instruction. Vibration groups were additionally vibrated for 15 seconds before curing. For dentin specimen, except removing the coronal part and placing occlusal surface at the mold level, the remaining procedures were same as enamel specimen. Resin composite(Z250. 3M. U.S.A.) was condensed on to the prepared surface in two increments using a mold kit(Ultradent Inc., U.S.A.). Each increments was light cured for 40 seconds. After 24 hours in tap water at room temperature, the specimens were thermocycled for 1000cycles. Shear bond strengths were measured with a universal testing machine(Instron 4465, England). To investigate infiltration patterns of adhesive materials, the surface of specimens was examined with scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows: 1. In enamel the mean values of shear bond strengths in vibration groups(group 2, 4, 6) were greater than those of non-vibration group(group 1, 3, 5). The differences were statistically significant except AQ bond group. 2. In dentin, the mean values of shear bond strengths in vibration groups(group 2, 4, 6) were greater than those of non-vibration groups(group 1, 3, 5). But the differences were not statistically significant except One-Up Bond F group. 3. The vibration group showed more mineral loss in enamel and longer resin tag and greater number of lateral branches in dentin under SEM examination.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the quality of newly offered dentin bonding system($AdheSE^{(R)}$ One) by comparing the degree of microleakage measured with those of several conventional adhesive materials(AQ Bond Plus and $Adper^{TM}$ Single Bond 2). The quality of hybrid layer and resin tags was analyzed by observing restoration/ tooth interface under SEM. All-in-one system is in the limelight for having advantage of reducing chair time of children with difficult behavior pattern. Therefore the possibility of clinical application of All-in-one system was evaluated. The results obtained are as follows; 1. At the enamel margin, group II(AQ Bond Plus) showed the highest value of microleakage, and the other groups showed decreased value in order of group III($AdheSE^{(R)}$ One) and I($Adper^{TM}$ Single Bond 2). There was statistically significant difference between group II and the others(p<0.05), and no statistical difference was found between group I and III. 2. At the dentin margin, microleakage value was increased in order of group II, I, III and significant difference between all groups(p<0.05). 3. In group I and III, microleakage value measured at the enamel margin was significantly lower than that seen at the dentin margin(p<0.05), and there was no statistical difference in group II. 4. Resin tags observed under SEM were very weak and tangled in group II and III while the strong and thick tags were observed in group I. In conclusion, careful case selection and accurate clinical application is recommended in using AQ Bond Plus and $AdheSE^{(R)}$ One, giving consideration of the results showing its higher microleakage and weaker strength than $Adper^{TM}$ Single Bond 2.
