Recently, in field of bridge construction, modular technology has been studied to reduce construction period. However, main stream of the study is limited to the pier, girder and deck of bridge, which are huge or main members. Studies on incidental facilities like concrete barrier is out of sight. Thus, in this study, connection system of concrete barrier was developed to apply to modular bridges and static experiment was performed in order to verify structural capability of proposed system. Variables of experiment are composed of bolt direction such as vertical and horizontal. The experimentation due to the designed variables was conducted by comparison with a standard concrete barrier, which is a traditional barrier. As a result, vertical joint way of the bolt showed nearly identical structural performance and healthy to standard specimen's. it can be applied to modular bridges.

Nonlinear property and contact matter are analyzed about the pipe applied with internal pressure through this study. The weakest part and its safety can be examined. Maximum equivalent stress is shown at the contact surface between bolt and nut. The value of contact stress with the pressure of 12MPa is increased 1.4 times as large as that with no pressure. The maximum contact pressure is shown at the clamp corner of the external surface on pipe. The value of contact pressure with the pressure of 12MPa is increased 1.4 times as large as that with no pressure. The radial deformation with no pressure is also increased greatly at the middle part of internal surface on pipe. But this maximum deformation on pipe with the pressure of 12MPa is shown at the part far away the support of pipe. This value is increased 5.7 times as large as that value with no pressure. As contact status, the sticking occurs most at the external surface of pipe. It also tends to occur at the contact surface between bolt and nut. At the external surface of pipe, the sticking in case of the pressure of 12MPa occurs more than that in case of no pressure.
The domestic and foreign scholars conducted many studies on mechanical properties of wave web steel beam and high-strength spiral stirrups confined concrete columns. Based on the previous research work, studies were conducted on the anti-seismic property of the end plate bolt connected wave web steel beam and high-strength spiral stirrups confined concrete column nodes applied with pre-tightening force. Four full-size node test models in two groups were designed for low-cycle repeated loading quasi-static test. Through observation of the stress, distortion, failure process and failure mode of node models, analysis was made on its load-carrying capacity, deformation performance and energy dissipation capacity, and the reliability of the new node was verified. The results showed that: under action of the beam-end stiffener, the plastic hinges on the end of wave web steel beam are displaced outward and played its role of energy dissipation capacity. The study results provided reliable theoretical basis for the engineering application of the new types of nodes.
Flush end-plate (FEP) beam-to-column joints are commonly used for gravity load resisting parts in steel multi-storey buildings. However, in seismic resisting structures FEP joints should also provide rotation capacity consistent with the global structural displacements. The current version of EN1993-1-8 recommends a criterion aiming at controlling the thickness of the end-plate in order to avoid brittle failure of the connection, which has been developed for monotonic loading conditions assuming elastic-perfectly plastic behaviour of the connection's components in line with the theory of the component method. Hence, contrary to the design philosophy of the hierarchy of resistances implemented in EN1998-1, the over strength and the hardening of the plastic components are not directly accounted for. In light of these considerations, this paper describes and discusses the results obtained from parametric finite element simulations aiming at investigating the moment-rotation response of FEP joints under cyclic actions. The influence of bolt diameter, thickness of end-plate, number of bolt rows and shape of beam profile on the joint response is discussed and design requirements are proposed to enhance the ductility of the joints.
Objectives : This paper aims to examine the meaning of guanjie(關節) in the Huangdineijing. Methods : Meanings of guan(關) and jie(節) were examined within the Neijing, after which the meaning of guanjie was studied in reference to usages of guan and jie. Other terms used similarly to guanjie were also studied. Results & Conclusions : 1. The meaning of guanjie in the Huandineijing could be inferred to meanings such as 'vital point and node', 'node of entrance gate', 'entrance gate and node', 'bolt and node', 'node of bolt', etc. 2. Most usages of guanjie in the Huangdineijing referred to 'pivotal node', while those mentioned in relation to edema or joint pain from wind and dampness meant 'node of entrance gate.' 3. The four entrances, eight nodes, extremity node, eight hollows, eight nodes of the limbs, twelve nodes, which are used similarly to guanjie, manage the five zang, communicate intimately via qi, while shen qi or zhen qi enter and exit. 4. Guanjie is closely linked to the five zang, while it is the entrance gate or pivotal node through which shen qi roams and travels. Therefore when interpreting a verse that includes 'guanjie', one must be aware of the perspectives of the Huangdineijing on qi, keeping in mind the close relationship with the five zang, and that zhen qi enters and exits.

To overcome many defects such as the high product cost, large energy consumption, and big space capacity in conventional mechanical machining, the miniaturization of machine tool and micro factory systems has been envisioned recently. The object of this paper is to research the effect of dynamic characteristic parameters in bolted-joint beams, which is widely applied to the joining of mechanical structures in order to identify structural system characteristics and to predict dynamic behavior according to scale-down from macro to micro system as the development of micro/meso-scale machine tool and micro factories. Modal parameters such as the natural frequency, damping ratio, and mode shape from modal testing and dynamic characteristics from finite element analysis are extracted with all 12 test beam models by materials, by size, and by joining condition, and then the results obtained by both methods are compared.
Accurate modeling of contact interface in bolted joints is crucial in predicting the dynamic behavior for bolted assemblies under external load. This paper presents a contact pressure distribution based non-uniform virtual material method to describe the joint interface of assembly structure, which is connected by sparsely distributed multi-bolts. Firstly, the contact pressure distribution of bolted joints is obtained by the nonlinear static analysis in the finite element software ANSYS. The contact surface around bolt hole is divided into several sub-layers, and contact pressure in each sub-layer is thought to be evenly. Then, considering multi-asperity contact at the micro perspective, the relationship between contact pressure and interfacial virtual material parameters for each sub-layer is established by using the fractal contact theory. Finally, an experimental platform for the dynamic characteristics testing of a beam lap structure with double-bolted joint is constructed to validate the efficiency of proposed method. It is found that the theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental results by impact response in both time- and frequency-domain, and the relative errors of the first four natural frequencies are less than 1%. Furthermore, the presented model is used to examine the effect of rough contact surface on dynamic characteristics of bolted joint.
In this paper, we present the result of an experimental investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of bolted lap-joint connection of pultruded fiber reinforced plastic structural shapes. In the experimental investigation, in order to find the mechanical property of the material, tension and shear tests on the pultruded structural composite specimen are conducted prior to the investigation on the structural behavior of bolted lap-joint connection of the member. Based on the result, number of bolts, type of placement and location of bolt are determined to be a test variable. Three different types of experimental specimens are prepared. Tensile load is applied through the center of the specimen with lap-joint connection and the structural behavior and failure mode of the test specimens with respect to the tensile load increment are investigated. As a result, it is found that most of the failure mode at the lap-joint connection is shear failure mode. Consequently, it is also found that the data obtained through this experimental program could be used for the structure connection design as a basis.
Semi-rigid joints have been widely studied in literature in recent decades because they affect greatly the structural response of frames. In literature, the behavior of semi-rigid joints is commonly assumed to be identical under positive and negative moments which are obviously incorrect in many cases where joint details such as bolt arrangement or placement of haunch are vertically asymmetrical. This paper evaluates two common types of steel frames with asymmetrical beam-to-column joints by Direct Analysis allowing for plasticity. A refined design method of steel frames using a proposed simple forth order curved-quartic element with an integrated joint model allowing for asymmetrical geometric joint properties is presented. Furthermore, the ultimate behavior of six types of asymmetrical end-plate connections under positive and negative moment is examined by the Finite Element Method (FEM). The FEM results are further applied to the proposed design method with the curved-quartic element for Direct Analysis of two types of steel frames under dominant gravity or wind load. The ultimate frame behavior under the two different scenarios are examined with respect to their failure modes and considerably different structural performances of the frames were observed when compared with the identical frames designed with the traditional method where symmetrical joints characteristics were assumed. The finding of this research contributes to the design of steel frames as their asymmetrical beam-to-column joints lead to different frame behavior when under positive and negative moment and this aspect should be incorporated in the design and analysis of steel frames. This consideration of asymmetrical joint behavior is recommended to be highlighted in future design codes.

In this study, the SBC system, a new mechanical joint method, was developed to improve the constructability of precast concrete (PC) beam-column connections. The reliability of the finite element analysis model was verified through the comparison of experimental results and FEM analysis results. Recently, the intermediate moment frame, a seismic force resistance system, has served as a ramen structure that resists seismic force through beams and columns and has few load-bearing walls, so it is increasingly being applied to PC warehouses and PC factories with high loads and long spans. However, looking at the existing PC beam-column anchorage details, the wire, strand, and lower main bar are overlapped with the anchorage rebar at the end, so they do not satisfy the joint and anchorage requirements for reinforcing bars (KDS 41 17 00 9.3). Therefore, a mechanical joint method (SBC) was developed to meet the relevant standards and improve constructability. Tensile and bending experiments were conducted to examine structural performance, and a finite element analysis model was created. The load-displacement curve and failure pattern confirmed that both the experimental and analysis results were similar, and it was verified that a reliable finite element analysis model was built. In addition, bending tests showed that the larger the thickness of the bolt joint surface of the SBC, the better its structural performance. It was also determined that the system could improve energy dissipation ability and ductility through buckling and yielding occurring in the SBC.
