It is very important to improve fertilizer use efficiency for the saving of fertilizers and for environmental purposes as well. However, there was no effective ways for the fertilization in the mid of growth under the plastic film mulching cultivation so far. For this, a Band Spotty Fertilization (BSF) machine was developed recently. So, we tried to establish a low input fertilization technique using this BSF machine in the vinyl mulching cultivation of onion (Allium cepa L.). Fertilization efficiency, soil properties, and crop yield were examined and compared among treatments from 2000 to 2001. The content of exchangeable K in soils were higher after fertilization but that of available $P_2O_5$ was lower than before the experiment in all plots. The content of nitrate-N was highest at the early growth stage, and higher in BSF plots than that of conventional fertilization (CF). BSF plot showed higher growth rate, and uptake amount of nitrogen of onion by 59-69% than that of CF. N use efficiency in BSF was higher in the order of two time-split application, one time-split application, and three time application. K use efficiency was high 13-17% BSF plots than that in CF($63kg\;ha^{-1}$) plots. The amount of residual N in soils was high by 8-14% in BSF plots compared to that in CF plots, and the loss of N was lowered 26-34% by BSF. Also, the amount of residual K in soils was high by 13-18% and the loss of K was low by 29-31% in BSF plots compared to that in CF plots. The yield of onions increased by 7-13% by BSF due to increased diameter and weight of bulbs. As the results, N fertilization efficiency increased by 22-42% by BSF.
Greenhouse experiments were conducted to avaluate strain competition, nodulation, patterns of nodule occupancy and population changes of Bradyrhizobium sp. strain HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ and CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$ in the rhizosphere of peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.) under different root temperatures. Inoculated with two strains using seed coating with peat slurry under different root temperatures, population of each strain in the rhizosphere increased with plant growth and multiplication rate of inoculum in the unit weight of root were showed the highest from 10 to 15days after sowing. The multiplication rate of inoculum in the rhizosphere was $28^{\circ}C$>$34^{\circ}C$>$22^{\circ}C$. The density of HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ was more increased than that of CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$ under $22^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$. While the density of two strains showed no difference under $34^{\circ}C$. Inoculated with HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ and CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$, respectively at 22, 28 and $34^{\circ}C$, nodulation of each strain was dominated in its inoculation portion. Inoculated with the mixture of HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ and CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$, occupancy rate of HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ was dominated over that of CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$ at $22^{\circ}C$ and $28^{\circ}C$, but that was similar between them at $34^{\circ}C$. Dry mass, nodulation, nitrogen content per plant and nitrogenase activity showed higher at $28^{\circ}C$ than at $32^{\circ}C$ and $22^{\circ}C$, while those were higher in HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ and mixing HCR-46 $str^{r}cep^{r}$ with CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$ than in CB756 $str^{r}rif^{r}$.

This study was conducted to mesh selectivity of Beam trawl for shrimps fishing experiment in the coastal waters around Geomundo, South sea of Korea, during from Oct. to Nov. 2002. The selectivity parameters of big head shrimp (Solenocera melantho) have been studied on the covered con-end method. with mesh of 8, 38, 51 and 61 mm. Selection curves and selection parameters were calculated by using a logistic function S=1/(1+exp-(aCL+b)). The mesh selection master curves were estimated by S=1/(1+exp$^{({\alpha}(CL/M)+{\beta}}$), and the optimum mesh size were calculated with (L/M)50 of master curve. Optimum mesh size and selectivity master curves for the southern rough shrimp (Yrachysalambria curvirostris) and smoothshell shrimp (Parapenaeopsis tenella) optimum mesh size and selectivity master curves were estimated by big head shrimp master curves. The results obtained are summarized as follows : Selection parameters '${\alpha}$' and '${\beta}$' of the master curve for big head shrimp were 8.84 and -5.89, and The selection factor of the master curve (L/M)$_{50}$ was 0.67. The optimum mesh size of minimum length for sexual maturity for big head shrimp was 30.7 mm. Estimated (L/M)$_{50}$ for southern rough shrimp and smoothshell shrimp by using the master curve of big head shrimp was 0.73 and the optimum mesh sizes were 25.5 mm for southern rough shrimp and 16.9 mm for smoothshell shrimp, respectively.
In this study, nutritional analysis was done on regular rice bran and fermented rice bran toward increasing their availability and use. Regular and fermented rice bran were extracted 10 times at $98^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours each with water, extracted with 60% ethanol at $60^{\circ}C$ for 4 hours, then concentrated and extracted twice by freeze-drying. When rice bran was fermented, moisture, protein, and ash contents increased, while fats and carbohydrates decreased. Out of fatty acids, the saturated fatty acid content of regular rice ran was found to be 17.7%, and 20.5% when fermented while the unsaturated fatty acid components of rice ran and fermented rice bran were found to be 82.3 and 79.5%, respectively. In both kinds of bran, palmitic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid represented over 90% of the fatty acid content. In rice bran the fatty acid composition was 15.1% palmitic acid, 40.6% oleic acid and 39.5% linoleic acid, while that of fermented rice bran was 13.2% palmitic acid, 43.2% oleic acid and 31.3% linoleic acid. Out of free sugars fermented rice bran contained 0% fructose, 0.0099% glucose, 0.0039% maltose and 0.3233% sucrose. These results with which those of regular rice bran were silmilar were according to the normal sugar composition of rice in general. The vitamin C content of rice bran was 53 mg/100 g and that of fermented rice bran 7 mg/100 g. In neither kind of rice bran was vitamin A detected. Out of 18 minerals analyzed, Ca, K, Mg, and Mn were the most abundant minerals in both kinds of rice bran. Fermented rice bran had a higher K content with 3,163 mg/100 g, than normal rice bran, Mg content was 1,178 mg/100g. Fermented rice bran had a higher total mineral content.
For the Seoul metropolitan area and the eastern Kyeongsang Basin, we simultaneously calculated $Q_P^{-1}$ and $Q_S^{-1}$ by applying the extended coda-normalization method for 98 seismograms of local Earthquakes. As frequency increases from 1.5 Hz to 24 Hz, the result decreased from $(4.0{\pm}9.2){\times}10^{-3}$ to $(4.1{\pm}4.2){\times}10^{-4}$ for $Q_P^{-1}$ and $(5.5{\pm}5.6){\times}10^{-3}$ to $(3.4{\pm}1.3){\times}10^{-4}$ for $Q_S^{-1}$ in Seoul Metropolitan Area. The result of eastern Kyeongsang basin also decreased from $(5.4{\pm}8.8){\times}10^{-3}$ to $(3.7{\pm}3.4){\times}10^{-4}$ for $Q_P^{-1}$ and $(5.7{\pm}4.2){\times}10^{-3}$ to $(3.5{\pm}1.6){\times}10^{-4}$ for $Q_S^{-1}$. If we fit a frequency-dependent power law to the data, the best fits of $Q_P^{-1}$ and $Q_S^{-1}$ are $0.005f^{-0.89}$ and $0.004f^{-0.88}$ in Seoul metropolitan Area, respectively. The value of $Q_P^{-1}$ and $Q_S^{-1}$ in the eastern Kyeongsang basin are $0.007f^{-1.02}$ and $0.006f^{-0.99}$, respectively. The $Q_S^{-1}$ value of the eastern Kyeongsang basin is almost similar to Seoul metropolitan area. But the $Q_P^{-1}$ value of the eastern Kyeongsang basin is a little higher than that of Seoul metropolitan area. This may be that the crustal characteristics of the eastern Kyeongsang basin is seismologically more heterogeneous. However, these $Q_P^{-1}$ values in Korea belong to the range of seismically stable regions all over the world.

Statement of problem: All-ceramic restorations have been advocated for superior esthetics. Various post and core systems have been used to improve the strength of damaged teeth, but it is unclear whether they affect the final shade of finished all-ceramic restorations. Purpose: The influence of different types of post and core systems on light transmission through all-ceramic crowns was assessed by spectrophotometric analysis. Also the masking effect of different thickness of ceramic ingot was evaluated. Material and Methods : Forty-five sample disks (15mm in diameter) at several thickness(1.0, 1.5, 2.0mm) and value(shade 100, 200, 300) were made in heat pressed ceramic(IPS-Empress). Background specimens simulating gold-alloy cast posts(Type III casting gold alloy), metal posts(Ni-Cr casting alloy) and ceramic posts(CosmoPost) were fabrica-ted. Resin composite(Z250, A3 shade) was used as a tooth substrate reference. For each combination, the change in color was measured with a spectrophotometer. Readings were performed for 2 conditions (1) ability of ceramic to mask the core in relation to its thickness(1.0, 1.5, or 2.0mm) ; (2) influence of post and core types on the final color of the ceramic. Data were recorded according to the CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ systems and color difference($\Delta$E) was calculated. Results: 100 shade ingot: when ceramic thickness was 1.0mm, $\Delta$E value for ceramic post larger than 1 but $\Delta$E value for metal and gold post was larger than 2. For ceramic thickness of 1.5mm, only $\Delta$E value for metal was larger than 2, and the other samples' $\Delta$E value was smaller than 2. For ceramic thickness of 2.0mm, $\Delta$E values for all specimens was smaller than 2. 200 shade ingot: when ceramic thickness was 1.0mm, $\Delta$E value for ceramic post was smaller than 1 but $\Delta$E value for metal and gold post was larger than 2. For ceramic thickness of 1.5 mm, only the $\Delta$E value for metal was larger than 2, and the other samples' $\Delta$E value was smaller than 2. For ceramic thickness of 2.0mm, $\Delta$E values for all specimens was smaller than 1. 300 shade ingot: when ceramic thickness was 1.0mm, only $\Delta$E value for metal was larger than 2 and the other samples' $\Delta$E value was smaller than 2. For ceramic thickness of 1.5mm, $\Delta$E values for all specimens was smaller than 1. For ceramic thickness of 2.0mm, $\Delta$E values for all specimens was smaller than 1. Conclusion: The final esthetic result of the IPS-Empress glass-ceramic restoration was not affected by the presence of different core materials when the thickness was more than 2.0 mm. When ceramic thickness decreases to 1.5mm, it is advised to take the substrate aspects into consideration. If the ceramic thickness is less than 1.0mm, using the tooth color matched substrate is strongly recommended.
Purpose: Recently, a method of forming a slot in the prosthesis lingual has been introduced to solve the occlusal and aesthetic disadvantages of screw-retained prosthesis in the manufacture of implant-fixed prosthesis and to ensure retrievability in cement retained prostheses. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the internal gap on the removal of the prosthesis in the preparation of cement-retained implant prostheses with lingual slots. Materials and methods: Titanium abutment and internal gap of the zirconia prosthesis to be attached to the upper part were set to 30, 35, and $50{\mu}m$, respectively. Three for each type total 15 were produced for each type. The zirconia prosthesis formed a retrievable cement-type slot with a space of 1 mm at the location where the titanium abutment meets the shelf area. Autocatalytic resin cement was used for bonding of abutment and zirconia prosthesis, and the maximum removal stress value was measured in units of Ncm by using the customized equipment of the cemented specimen. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the three groups by statistical analysis (${\alpha}=.05$), modified by post hoc test the Mann-Whitney U-test and the Bonferroni correction method were used to compare the two methods (${\alpha}=.017$). Results: There was no statistically significant difference in removal stress between the $30{\mu}m$ group and the $35{\mu}m$ group in the internal gap (P = .032), and there was a significant difference between the $30{\mu}m$ group and the $50{\mu}m$ group, between the $35{\mu}m$ group and the $50{\mu}m$ group (P < .017). Conclusion: Thus, the internal gap of computer-aided design affected the retention between the zirconia prosthesis and the titanium abutment.
In order to study the optimum environmental condition for larvae culture of the freshwater crab, Eriocheir japonicus, larvae from different growth stages and young crab were cultured under the 16 different conditions of $4\times4$ temperature-salinity combinations (4 different temperatures at 22, 24, 26, $28^{\circ}C$ with 10.5, 17.5, 24.5 and $31.5\%$ of salinity). The duration of metamorphosis, metamorphosis rate, the interval of moulting period, and survival rate were measured from each experimental group of larvae and young crab under the different conditions. The results indicated that the optimum conditions may be a $24.5\%o$ of salinity at water temperature at 22, 24, and $26^{\circ}C$. At $28^{\circ}C$ with $24.5\%o$), the duration of metamorphosis reduced somewhat, nevertheless metamorphosis and survival rate decreased a lot. And the lower the salinity showed the lower the metamorphosis and survival rates at $28^{\circ}C$.
This paper deals with the reproductive ecology e.g., number of the pre-spawning moults, morphological characteristics of the pre-spawning moult the common moult, daily ration druing a molting cycle mating behavior, structures of spermatozoa and spermatophore, structure of vas deferens, mechanisms of the oviposition and brooding into the egg-chambers, a suitable time for the artificial mating and fertilization, time sequence of the oviposition and brooding into egg-chambers from the copulation, responses to temperature and chlorinity on the egg development and hatching, effect of temperatures on duration of egg development, physical mechanism of the egg hatching, to make an attempt for the artificial spawning and brooding to establish a suitable system of the artificial seedling-production for the aquaculture. 1. Females molted commonly $8{\~}10$ times at an interval of $17{\~}18$ days at $28^{\circ}C,\;3.26\~4.35\%_{\circ}$ while the prespawning moltings were $4{\~}5$ times at an interval of $13{\~}14$ days. The suitable state for artificial copulation was within 14 hours elapsed from the prespawning moltings (most suitable state was within 8 hours). Males discharged a gelatinous spermatophore and placed it on the females sternum during copulation. Oviposition was seen $6{\~}17$ hours after copulation. External fertilization was considered to take place at oviposition. Fertilized eggs held in egg-chambers forming between pleopods were about $5000{\~}6000$ in females those sizes about 6.5 cm in body length. 2. Eggs immediately after oviposition were elliptic shape, measuring $0.58{\times}0.48$ mm up to hatching. Their sizes increased with egg development and finally reached $0.85{\times}0.54$ mm up to hatching. The relationship between the long axis of the egg(Y in U) and days elapsed(X) was expressed as Y= 5.60194 + 0.007358X. The eggs performed superficial cleavage and their cleavage furrows became visible at the 4-daughter-nucleus stage. The eggs showed normal development up to hatching at water temperature range of $22{\~}30^{\circ}C$ (optimum temperature : $26{\~}28^{\circ}C$) and at chlorinity range of $0.00\~6.64\%_{\circ}$ (optimun chlorinity : $2.21{\%}_{\circ}$). The relationship between incubation period (Y in days) and water temperature(X in $^{\circ}C$) could be expressed as Y= 50.803-1.3555X. The eggs hatched $12{\~}13$ days after oviposition at $28.0{\~}28.6^{\circ}C$ 3. The pre-spawning moltings were appreciably different in the morphologic structure from those of common moltings. Breeding setae and dresses were formed on the thoracic regions, abdominal epimerae and the bases of the first to fourth pleopods in order to prepare and support oviposition, transfering and supporting eggs in egg-chambers up to hatching. These supplementary breeding organs were observed only at reproductive seasons.

Previous studies have already shown that mouthguard is effective in protecting jaw bone, teeth and oral tissue against sports trauma. However, other than severe trauma, repetitive force, such as disorders like clenching, cause teeth or oral tissue damage. These kinds of disorders usually present pathologic attrition in the posterior teeth, resorption in alveolar bone, loss of teeth and destruction of occlusion. Wearing a mouthguard is believed to be effective in preventing these disorders. But its effect is not examined thoroughly enough. The purpose of this study is to identify whether mouthguard is effective in reducing strain caused by clenching. Mandibular first molars in the normal occlusal relationship without any history of dental treatment were chosen. Biaxial type strain gauge was placed on the buccal surface of the tooth. Having maximum occlusal force, measured by load cell, as a standard, clenching intensity were divided into three stages; moment of slightly tooth contact, medium bite force (50% of maximum bite force), maximum bite force. Strain occurring in dentition in each stage with and without mouthguard was measured. Changes in strain (on dentition) between each stage and difference in strain, between with or without mouthguard were recorded by PCD-300 analyzer and PCD-30 soft ware. The data was statistically analyzed by Wilcoxon signed rank test. The following results were drawn; Without mouthguard, strain given on dentition increased as the clenching force increased. With mouthguard, strain given on dentition also increased as the clenching force increased. With mouthguard, strain decreased, in all cases of clenching force stages. Data on the moment of slightly tooth contact stage, had no statistical significance. However, with mouthguard, 50-90% of decrease in strain could be obtained in maximum occlusal force, compared to the group without mouthguard. Mouthguard decreased the strain on the dentition, caused by clenching. Therefore, mouthguard seems to be effective in preventing damage on dentition, by acting against clenching, which occurs both consciously and unconsciously during sports activities.
