We developed a cuffless and noninvasive measurement technique of blood pressure using tonometric pressure sensor. With observation that the maximum value of pulse pressure is not obtained at mean arterial pressure(MAP), we have figured out MAP based on the physiological characteristic including the elasticity of wrist tisse. Detecting only one part of the body and using only one device are quite advantageous over other BP measurement techniques. Our technique makes new way for the cuffless BP measurement.
In this paper, a novel multimode liquid metal-based pressure sensor is developed. The main body of the sensor is composed of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer. The structure of the sensor looks like a sandwich, in which the upper structure contains a cylindrical cavity, and the bottom structure contains a spiral microchannel, and the middle partition layer separates the upper and the bottom structures. Then, the liquid metal is injected into the top cavity and the bottom microchannel. Based on linear elastic fracture mechanics, the deformation of the microchannel cross-section is theoretically analyzed. The changes of resistance, capacitance, and inductance of the microchannel under pressure are deduced, and the corresponding theoretical models are established. The theoretical values of the pressure sensor are in good agreement with experimental data, implying that the developed theoretical model can explain the performance of the sensor well.

This paper introduces a biocompatible packaging system for implantable medical device having a hermetic sealing, such that a perfect physical and chemical isolation between electronic medical system and human body (including tissue, body fluids, etc.) is obtained. The hermetic packaging includes an electronic MEMS pressure sensor, power charging system, and bluetooth communication system to wirelessly measure variation of capacitance. The packaging was acquired by Quartz direct bonding and $CO_2$ laser welding, with a size of width $ 6cm{\times}length\;10cm{\times}lheight\;3cm$. Hermetic sealing of the packaged system was tested by changing the pressure in a hermetic chamber using a precision pressure controller, from atmospheric to 900 mmHg. We found that the packaged system retained the same count or capacitance values with sensor 1 - 25,500, sensor 2 - 26,000, and sensor 3 - 20,800, at atmospheric as well as 900 mmHg pressure for 5 hours. This result shows that the packaging method has perfect hermetic sealing in any environment of the human body pressure.

The medical bed developed in this study consists of N keys and each is driven vertically by an actuator. Since M sensors are mounted on each keyboard to measure body pressure, the resolution of the body pressure map is determined by the MN. A sensor controller is mounted on each keyboard, and the body pressure values measured from M sensors are transmitted to the main controller through a serial communication network such as CAN (Car Area Network). Each keyboard is equipped with a servo driver that drives a motor, and it is connected to the main controller via CAN to control the height of the keyboard according to the displacement value indicated by the main controller. In addition, the maximum body pressure value and body pressure ratio applied to each part of the keyboard are calculated and used as the basic data for controlling bed comfort by artificial intelligence. As a result, the proposed system can be a foundation that can be used for the control of body comfort and pressure sore prevention by artificial intelligence to be developed in the future.
We spend about 40% of lifte time on a bed and seek how such amount of time is spent comfort. Bed comfort has been pursuited. The pressure distributions on a bed by body pressure has been considered as one of the most important factors of bed comfort. This study is to quantify the subjective assessment by the body pressure distribution and develop the objective evaluation method of bed comfort. A new measurement system for body pressure on a bed was developed in this study. The thin film pressure sensor (FSR: Force Sensing Resistor) of an elastomer-type was used to prevent the distortion of contact pressure. The pressure distribution is measured by FSR and displayed on the monitor by color-coded contour patterns. Some of the bed test results were described. And the relations between body pressure distribution and bed comfort were evaluated.

In this paper, we present a MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) implantable blood pressure sensor which has designed and fabricated with consideration of size, design flexibility, and wireless detection. Mechanical and electrical characterizations of the sensor were obtained by mathematical analysis and computer aided simulation. The sensor is composed of two coils and a air gap capacitor formed by separation of the coils. Therefore, the sensor produces its resonant frequency which is changed by external pressure variation. This frequency movement is detected by inductive coupling between the sensor and an external antenna coil. Theoretically analyzed resonant frequency of the sensor under 760 mmHg was calculated to 269.556 MHz. Fused silica was selected as sensor material with consideration of chemical and electrical reaction of human body to the material. $2mm{\times}5mm{\times}0.5mm$ pressure sensors fitted to radial artery were fabricated on the substrates by consecutive microfabrication processes: sputtering, etching, photolithography, direct bonding and laser welding. Resonant frequencies of the fabricated sensors were in the range of 269~284 MHz under 760 mmHg pressure.
In bicycle design, saddle is the major part which effects the subjective comfort of rider. This study examines the correlation between the subjective comfort and elastic body pressure. The elastic body pressure measuring instrument for free-form surface such as saddle is developed by force sensor register, A/D converter and computer. The subjective comfort is measured quantit- atively by 11-point scale method and the elastic body pressure distribution is obtained through 3 different saddles at 4 postures. The pressure distribution is presented by computerized equi- pressure contour. While mean pressure, standard deviation of pressure, maximum pressure are inversely proportional to subjective comfort, the modified saddle-bearing weight which is the surface integral of pressure is directly proportional. Consequently, standard deviation of pressure is most important characteristic which affects variation of subjective comfort.

Pulse sensors generally have characteristics that cause a analytical error by the interference of signals according to tiny motion of body and pressure applied to skin. To resolve this problem, we implemented the sensor that is capable of simultaneously measuring pressure and PPG(photoplethymogram) in a state attached to skin. Pressure and PPG was recorded at the finger and wrist respectively to evaluate the usefulness of the implemented sensor. Then, it was observed that the shape of PPG from sensor changed by pressure pushing down skin. Results of this study suggested that it is possible to monitor a degree of skin pressurization and to guarantee a reliable measurement by simultaneously measuring pressure and PPG using implemented integrated sensor when measuring PPG on the wrist or the finger.
Anesthesia gas to pour to patients affects the flow and volume as the pressure difference of an oxygen and an anesthesia gas. An anesthesia gas, being injurious and polluting an environment, must control the pressure of an oxygen gas because of being used by closing up tight. But a pressure sensor to use for measuring an oxygen gas appears other pressure as the characteristic and the error difference of elements to use for implementing an system. A medical machine such as an anesthesia ventilator must be accurate because of using for the person's body. So we intend to implement an system for a sensor pressure measurement not to be change regardless of an environment. This papers is the target that a sensor pressrue measurement to be changed in environment is equal to actual sensor pressure measurement. So an implemented system is using analog filter and digital filter to reduce a noise. And we are using auto-zeroing and calibration to correct a sensor pressure which is changed in environment. Through such a process we increase the accuracy and the confidence of an anesthesia ventilator by controlling the flow of an anesthesia gas.
This study aims to implement the emergency monitoring robot system which predicts the current state of the patients without visiting the medical institutions by measuring the basic health status of the user's blood pressure, heartbeat, and basic health status of body temperature in the disaster emergency situation based on the Smart Grid. By arranging a large number of sensor(blood pressure, heartbeat, body temperature sensor) and measuring the bio signs, so the attached wireless XBee sensor can be stored in DB of robot, and it aims to draw the current state of the patients by analysis of stored bio data. Among 300 data obtained from the sensor, 1st data to 100th data were used for learning, and from 101st data to 300th data were used for assessment. 12 results were different among the total 300 assessment data, so it shows about 96% accuracy.
