  • Ultra wide band electromagnetic energy can be transmitted to a far field by emitting the nanoseconds high voltage Pulse electromagnetic energy via an antenna. This UWB EM energy is expected to be used in post-packing pasteurization of food, detection of buried objects or underground water veins and caves and the treatment of waste water or polluted gas. The nanoseconds pulse forming for UWB generation using 500kV blumlein line and an ultrafast switch is mentioned.

펄스형 고전압 전원에 의한 선전리 현상의 관측과 질소레이저의 동작 특성 (Observation of the Preionization effect and Operational Characteristics of a Nitrogen Laser by a Pulse type high Voltage Power Supply)

  • 본 논문에서는 I자형과 U자형의 변압기를 각각 사용한 펄스형 고전압 전원에 의해 대기압에서 동작되는 파장 337.1 nm인 질소레이 저의 방전간극과 레이저 관에 각각 광섬유를 설치하고, 이를 통해 나오는 빛을 핀 다이오드를 이용하여 선전리 현상을 직접 관측하고 출력특성을 조사하였다. 레이저 출력이 안정되고 높아질수록 선전리 현상을 뚜렷이 관측할 수 있었고, 레이저 출력은 I자형 변압기보다는 U자형의 변압기를 사용하였을 때 높은 출력과 안정성을 얻었으며, 또한 펄스 방전의 예비동작 시간도 U자형이 1/3 정도 짧았다. U자형의 변압기를 사용하고 출력창의 반사율 $40\%$, 반복율 10 Hz, 레이저 관내에서 질소기체의 유동률이 4 ${\iota}$/min, 방전간극 내에서 질소기체의 유동율이 1500 cc/min, 방전간극 전극 거리 3.0 mm, 레이저 관 내 전극거리 5.0 mm 일 때, 안정성이 $2.7\%$$36{\mu}J$의 출력을 얻었다.

  • When the energy of the nanoseconds high voltage pulse with hundreds picoseconds of the pulse rise time is emitted into the free space via an antenna, an ultra wide band electromagnetic wave is generated. This electromagnetic wave is expected to be used in transmitting vast amount of informations to far distance, high performance radars, post-packaging pasteurization of food, the detection of underground buried objects, searching of underground water veins or caves, the treatment of waste water or polluted gases and so forth. Additionally, this technology can be used in EMI(electromagnetic interference) evaluation of measuring instruments or printed circuit boards.

  • 레이저관내에 별도의 전극을 설치하지 않고 레이저전극 자체만으로 선전리 효과를 얻을 수 있는 질소레이저를 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 펄스형 전원과 고속고전압 방전간극을 사용하는 레이저를 제작하였으며, 레이저관 양단에는 저항 또는 인덕터를 연결하여 이들이 레이저 동작특성에 미치는 영향과 자체 선전리 효과를 함께 연구하였다.

  • A high voltage air-cored helical strip/wire type pulse transformer has been fabricated for charging of a high voltage pulse forming line. As a primary coil, copper strip of 25mm width was wound helically around a MC nylon cylinder. For a secondary coil, copper enameled wire of 1mm diameter was wound around conical cylinder in order to provide insulation between two windings. The coupling coefficient of 0.53 was obtained when two coils were combined coaxially in the insulation oil filled chamber. Voltage gain and energy transfer efficiency were investigated by varying the parameters of primary and secondary circuit. Test results shows that the voltage gain increases up to 17 with increasing the primary capacitance up to 200nF. And highest energy transfer efficiency of 44% was obtained when the dual resonant operation condition was nearly satisfied. The pulse transformer developed in this study can be used for charging the middle conductor of a Blumlein pulse forming line.

난류가열 쎄타핀치의 고전압 펄스 발생에 관한 연구 (Study on the High Voltage Pulse Profile Characteristics of a Turbulently Heated Theta Pinch)

  • The fast-rising high-voltage pulse generation circuit system of a theta pinch is both theoretically and experimentally investigated. The idealized model of this circuit system is a hybrid circuit system composed of three parts: a lumped circuit part being consisted of a capacitor bank and a spark switch connected in series, another lumped circuit part being consisted of the Blumlein transmission line, whose end load is the pinch coil. the voltage difference between two ends of the pinch coil is formulated by analyzing this hybrid circuit system by means of the law of the signal propagation in the transmission line and Kirchhoff's laws. The expedient numerical method for computer calculation is developed to generate the pulse profile of the voltage difference across the pinch coil. The period of the experimentally measured main pulse is a fourth of the theoretical one neglecting the resistance of the pinch coil. We attribute this discrepancy to the modelling in the theoretical calculation that hte resistance and inductance of the spark switch and capacitor bank are assumed to be constant through discharge. Therefore, we can see that the rise time of the imploding magnetic-field pulse is mainly dependent on the spark switch and capacitor bank.
