Design of a 2.5V 2.4GHz Single-Ended CMOS Low Noise Amplifier (2.5V, 2.4GHz CMOS 저잡음 증폭기의 설계)

  • A 2.4 GHz single ended two stage low noise amplifier(LNA) is designed for Bluetooth application. The circuit was implemented in a standard digital 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process with one poly and five metal layers. At 2.4 GHz, the LNA dissipates 34.5 mW from a 2.5V power supply voltage and provides 24.6 dB power gain, 2.85 dB minimum noise figure, -66.3 dB reverse isolation, and an output 1-dB compression level of 8.5 dBm.

  • 사물인터넷 (IoT), 핀테크(Fintech) 등 새로운 기술의 등장으로 보안성에 대한 부분이 커지고 있다. 모든 사물이 인터넷과 연결되는 사물인터넷 기술로 인해 악성행위와의 접점이 크게 증가했으며, 핀테크(Fintech)는 전통적인 보안시스템의 개혁을 요구하고 있기 때문이다. 사물인터넷 환경에서 이루어지는 간편 인증 결제시스템이 발전함에 따라 다양한 보안위협요소가 발생할 것으로 예상한다. 접점의 증가로 인해 고객이 실수로 악성코드를 받게 될 가능성과 사물인터넷의 핵심 기능인 원격접속에 대한 위협이 대표적인 예라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 현재 고객의 단말을 강제로 통제할 수 있는 방법이 전무한 상황이고, 향후 서비스에서 필요한 고객정보수집과 활용에 대한 정책이 필요한 시점에서 발생할 수 있는 해킹 기법을 제안하고자 한다.

  • Currently, lithium-ion batteries are mainly used in energy storage equipment products including automobiles. This can be exposed to dangerous situations such as explosions in the event of incorrect battery management conditions that are overcharged or left in high temperature conditions. It also causes a situation battery cannot be used when it has been over discharged. Therefore, a system that manages the state of the battery is required. The battery management system aims to obtain optimum battery efficiency by accurately recognizing the state of the battery and keeping the voltage of each cell constant. In this paper, we develop a lithium-iron phosphate battery that has higher safety than a general lithium-ion battery. Then, in order to manage this, we try to develop the algorithm of the BMS module based on the Bluetooth communication using the MATLAB-SIMULINK.

The Design and Fabrication of the Triple-Band Planar Monopole Antenna for Coupled U Patch Line and Rectangular Patch (U자형 패치 라인과 사각 패치를 결합한 삼중 대역 평면형 모노폴 안테나 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, the planar monopole antenna for multi-band service is proposed. The proposed antenna, which is a rectangular patch antenna with a U-shaped slit based on a monopole antenna for wide bandwidth characteristic, is designed and analyzed. The antenna size has been miniaturized by using the U-shaped slit. The frequency characteristics are modified and optimized by varying specific parameters. To obtain desired frequency bands, the U-shaped slit and patch lines have been applied. Whole antenna dimensions including the ground plane are $35{\times}50{\times}1\;mm^3$, and the antenna part size is $35{\times}27\;mm^2$. It is fabricated on the FR-4 substrate(${\epsilon}_r=4.4$) using a microstrip line of $50{\Omega}$ for impedance matching. For the measured results, the impedance bandwidth below a VSWR of 2 is 790~916 MHz, 1.74~2.14 GHz, and 2.36~3.13 GHz. The fabricated antenna is satisfied with the aimed impedance bandwidth in GSM/DCS/US-PCS/UMTS/Bluetooth/S-DMB applications.

A Wideband LNA and High-Q Bandpass Filter for Subsampling Direct Conversion Receivers (서브샘플링 직접변환 수신기용 광대역 증폭기 및 High-Q 대역통과 필터)

  • In this paper, a cascade of a wideband amplifier and a high-Q bandpass filter (BPF) has been realized in a 0.18mm CMOS technology for the applications of subsampling direct-conversion receivers. The wideband amplifier is designed to obtain the -3dB bandwidth of 5.4GHz, and the high-Q BPF is designed to select a 2.4GHz RF signal for the Bluetooth specifications. The measured results demonstrate 18.8dB power gain at 2.34GHz with 31MHz bandwidth, corresponding to the quality factor of 75. Also, it shows the noise figure (NF) of 8.6dB, and the broadband input matching (S11) of less than -12dB within the bandwidth. The whole chip dissipates 64.8mW from a single 1.8V supply and occupies the area of $1.0{\times}1.0mm2$.

  • Many novel designs of planar antennas for related applications such as internal mobile phone antennas, base station antennas, WLAN or Bluetooth antennas, and so on, have been reported very recently, especially since the year 2000. In this thesis, Dualband internal antenna for GSM/DSC handset is proposed. The antenna has a size of about 38mm$\times$90mm$\times$1mm, giving a total mobile phone PCB for support and fold type Patch of about 30mm$\times$8mm$\times$3.2mm. This antenna characteristic facilitates the fine-tuning of the two operating frequencies of 909MHz and 1762MHz in this dualband design. The measured radiation pattern in the E-plane and H-plane for operating frequencies of 909MHz and 1762MHz is compared and analyzed. The designed and fabricated two band internal antenna for GSM/DSC handset have a gain between 0dBi and 2.0dBi at all bands.

  • Recently, there have been many research on fever management using u-healthcare technology. Especially, fever of infants requires continuous monitoring of body temperature by parents. For infants between 4 weeks and under 5 years old, it is recommended to use an electronic thermometer or chemical thermometer in the axilla, or to use an infrared thermometer. However, in order to overcome the reality of not being able to waste significant time on continuous monitoring, there have been demands of patch type thermometers with the internet of things (IoT) and wireless communication technologies. Existing IoT thermometers are difficult to attach to infants' body because they do not take into account its size, and their interoperability is not guaranteed because they do not comply with standards in communication. Therefore, in this study, a patch-type thermometer with a diameter of 20 mm and a weight of 2.9 g was developed to manage the fever of infants, while it communicates wirelessly with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication protocol and complies with IEEE 11073 PHD(Personal Health Device) at the same time. We verified its performance under the requirements of thermometers regulated by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

  • In the present study, compact $0^{th}$ order resonant antenna for 2.4 GHz ISM frequency band is newly proposed. In case of wireless communication systems such as wi-fi, bluetooth and Zigbee, antennas with omni-directional radiation pattern are necessary because of the demands for uniformly received electric field strength without variation for direction. It is well-known that $0^{th}$ order resonant antennas are not only advantageous for miniaturization but also have advantage of maintaining omni-directional radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is composed of two-element array in which the size of unit element should be smaller than ${\lambda}/4$ correspondent to the resonant length of typical monopole antennas The proposed antenna which is placed at middle and upper side of PCB with $50{\times}50mm^2$ size is designed and fabricated within limited space of $8{\times}5mm^2$. The measured impedance bandwidth ($S_{11}{\leq}-10dB$) is about 100 MHz (2.4~2.5 GHz) which corresponds to quite wide bandwidth in comparison with the antenna size, and also the measured peak gain over the passband is more than 3 dBi which is thought to be slightly wider than the other $0^{th}$ order resonant antenna.

  • 4차 산업혁명이 대두되고 있어 IoT사물인터넷이 각광받고 있다. Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy를 사용하여 LED조명이 기존의 단순한 조명역할에서 벗어나 IoT(Internet of Things)기술을 결합시켜 사용자가 손쉽게 환경변화에 의한 LED On/Off, Color Control, 밝기 조절을 통해 높은 부가가치를 실현하여 사람의 생활의 가치를 높이도록 한다. 또한, LED소자는 반영구적인 것에 비해 실제 상용화 된 LED등을 사용할 시 드라이버 회로의 문제로 인해 1년 정도의 수명을 가진다. 이러한 드라이버 회로의 문제를 개선하여 LED소자의 반영구적인 특성을 최대한 활용하여 LED조명의 수명을 높이고자 한다.

Novel Shorted Meander-Line USB Dongle Antenna with a Compact Ground Plane

  • This letter presents the design of a novel multiband USB dongle antenna with a compact ground plane. The radiating patch is composed of a modified meander-line monopole and a shorted loop to generate a dual-broadband resonance. The proposed antenna supports WiBro, Bluetooth, WLAN, WiMAX, and S-DMB services. The total dimensions of the fabricated antenna are 10 mm ${\times}$ 45 mm ${\times}$ 1 mm, the most compact size among multiband USB dongle antennas reported to date. The measured 10 dB reflection loss bandwidths are 20.8% (2.24 GHz to 2.76 GHz) and 20.2% (4.86 GHz to 5.95 GHz). The measured peak gain is 2.97 dBi, and efficiency is higher than 58%. In addition, the radiation pattern approximates an omnidirectional pattern.
