Driving Current Control for Time-Stable RGB LED Backlighting Using Time-Varying Transform Matrix (시변 변환 행렬을 이용한 시간에 안정된 RGB LED Backlighting 구동 전류 제어)

  • This paper proposes a driving current control method for a back light unit (BLU), consisting of red, green, and blue (RGB) light-emitting diodes (LEDs), whereby an RGB optical sensor is used to check the output color stimulus variation to enable a time-stable color stimulus for light emission by the RGB LED BLU. First, to obtain the present color stimulus information of the RGB LED BLU, an RGB to XYZ transform matrix is derived to enable CIEXYZ values to be calculated for the RGB LED BLU from the output values of an RGB optical sensor. The elements of the RGB to XYZ transform matrix are polynomial coefficients resulting from a polynomial regression. Next, to obtain the proper duty control values for the current supplied to the RGB LEDs, an XYZ to Duty transform matrix is derived to calculate the duty control values for the RGB LEDs from the target CIEXYZ values. The data used to derive the XYZ to Duty transform matrix are the CIEXYZ values for the RGB LED BLU estimated from the output values of the RGB optical sensor and corresponding duty control values applied to the RGB LEDs for the present, first preceding, and second preceding sequential check points. With every fixed-interval check of the color stimulus of the RGB LED BLU, the XYZ to Duty transform matrix changes adaptively according to the present lighting condition of the RGB LED BLU, thereby allowing the RGB LED BLU to emit the target color stimulus in a time-stable format regardless of changes in the lighting condition of the RGB LEDs.

Effects of LED Treatment on Microbial Reduction and Quality Characteristics of Red Pepper Powder (LED 처리에 의한 고춧가루의 미생물 저감화 및 품질특성)

  • This study investigated reduction of microbial population, water soluble pigment, capsanthin content, surface color (Hunter L, a, b, ${\Delta}E$), and sensory properties of pepper powder by LED (red, yellow, blue, green) treatments. LED (red, yellow, blue, green) treatment were conducted in 1,000 lux storage at $25^{\circ}C$ for 10 days. The total aerobic bacteria was no significant difference among the control and treated with LED during 10 days. In yellow LED treatment, yeast and molds were decreased about 1.76 log. Surface color such as lightness (L), redness (a), yellowness (b) were showed a decreasing tendency as the storage period. In the overall color difference (${\Delta}E$) of yellow LED treatment was lower less than 3.0. Water soluble pigment was no difference in control and LED treated samples during storage period. Capsanthin content was significantly decreased as storage period was increased, but no significant differences were observed among red and yellow LED treatments. Sensory properties of control was significantly reduced by storage period but yellow and green LED treatments were no significantly differences.

An Experimental Study on Plant Factory System Applied Photovoltaic System and LED Lighting (태양전지와 LED 조명을 이용한 가정용식물공장 시스템 실증시험)

  • Plant factory industry as a new agriculture is in the spotlight. In this paper, we experimented plant factory applied photovoltaic system and LED lighting. For growing the plant, red, blue and white LED were placed into 1:4:3. Electric power generated by the photovoltaic system was supplied on DC power supply instead of AC. The designed and experimented power generation amount per day of photovoltaic system were 2,860 Wh and 2,272 Wh respectively. Plant has not been grown at the dead space of LED lighting so it is required to array LED lighting.

GaN Base Blue LED on Patterned Sapphire Substrate by Wet Etching (습식식각 방법으로 제작한 패턴 형성 사파이어 기판을 가지는 GaN계 청색 LED)

  • Sapphire substrate was patterned by a selective chemical wet etching technique, and GaN/InGaN structures were grown on this substrate by MOVPE (Metal Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxy). The surface of grown GaN on patterned sapphire substrate (PSS) has good morphology and uniformity. The patterned sapphire substrate LED showed better light output than conventional LED that improvement 50%. We think these results come from enhancement of internal quantum efficiency by decrease of threading dislocation and increase of light extraction efficiency. Also these LED showed more uniform emission distribution in angle than conventional LED.

Changes in the quality characteristics of kimchi broths and growth of the isolated strains due to blue light emitting diode irradiation (Blue LED (Light emitting diode) 조사에 의한 배추김치와 백김치 발효액의 품질 특성 및 분리 균주의 생육 변화)

  • Kimchi is a widely consumed traditional Korean food, and its probiotic properties have received great attention. In this study, changes in the quality characteristics of fermentation broths obtained from two types of Chinese cabbage kimchi (red with red pepper and white without red pepper) were assessed after the administration of blue light emitting diode (BLED) irradiation at 4℃; characteristics assessed included acidity, chromaticity, antioxidant activity, and growth modulation of isolated microorganisms. The pH of the white kimchi (WK) broth decreased with time; the decrease was delayed significantly under BLED irradiation (p<0.05). BLED irradiation decreased the L (lightness) and b (yellowness) values and increased a (redness) in WK, whereas the a and b values of the red kimchi (RK) broth increased with BLED irradiation. Growth stimulation of lactic acid bacteria by BLED irradiation was observed in both WK and RK. The numbers of yeast and mold were also increased in RK (p<0.05), but not in WK. There was no change observed in the scavenging activities against ABTS (2,2'-azido-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radicals in both kimchi broths after BLED treatment. The results of this study indicated that BLED irradiation could modulate the fermentation process and the quality characteristics of kimchi during storage.

  • In this paper, we prevent a display quality drop for image of characteristics brightness ununiformity depend on LED use to LED vision. It is about that method also a control system development equipped with brightness compensation function of LED vision which is done easily for LED set up of LED vision. Generally, It is calculate driving current value is attended by each brightness to brightness characteristics mathematical function establish by "Y=aX+b", When is doing brightness value for "Y", driving current value for "X", brightness compensation value by using time for "b", characteristics value for "a" ground with characteristics curve of LED. So much, First It is create brightness data of each pixel take a photograph red, green and blue of LED vision. Second It is get average error about each pixel which get average brightness value of entire. Last, It is handle a complicated for about gradationally regulation to color and brightness of image send to LED vision. Also It raise the whole average brightness value of vision adjust for "b" value to solve brightness drop problem of LED using the long time.

  • 현재 전력난에 의해 에너지 절감이라는 말은 가정 및 산업 현장 곳곳에서 들을 수 있다. 에너지 절감 대책 중 하나가 몇 년전 정부에서 발표한 백열등 수입 및 유통금지가 있다. 그 효과로 LED 산업이 각광 받게 되었다. 다양한 LED 산업 및 기술에서도 신뢰성 및 성능 분야는 항상 진화하고 많은 기업들이 집중하고 있다. LED에서 중요한 요소인 방열성능을 개선시키기 위해 많은 연구를 행하고 있다. 그리고 광원 개발분야에서도, 반도체 광원의 LED PKG의 다량 실장으로 고출력을 행하는 것 보다는 기판위에 Blue Chip을 실장하여 제작하는 고출력 광원의 기술로 집중되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 고출력 광원인 COB(Chip On Board) LED의 방열성능 개선을 다루었다. 기판의 구조 변형으로 방열특성 개선 대안을 제시하였다. Via hole과 Cavity를 이용한 구조를 제안하였다. 그에 대한 해석 방법으로는, 구조적인 해석과 수치적인 해석을 활용하였다. 그 결과로는 약 13~40%의 방열성능 개선을 나타내었다.

Behavioral reaction of common squid Todarodes pacificus to different colors of LED Light (LED 색광에 대한 살오징어의 행동반응)

  • To study the behavioral reaction of common squid Todarodes pacificus, to different colors of LED light, individual distribution in the dark condition without LED light stimuli, individual distribution when four colors of light stimuli were at the sections of end and middle of water tank and the changes of gathering rates as the elapse of illuminating time were examined. When it was dark, the distribution of the fish in each section of the tank was U-shape regardless of the investigating time intervals, which means that Todarodes pacificus gathered at the both ends of the tank. The individual distribution when light stimuli were at the one end of the tank showed the tendency of gathering at the illuminated section and decreasing at the opposite section. There were 448 of them at the end of the tank when the light was blue, 352 when white, 302 when green and 132 when red. Thus the fish liked blue light the most, followed by white light. The variations of gathering rate at the both ends of tank as illuminating time elapsed showed the tendency of increasing at the light section (A section), however, it showed the tendency of decreasing at the darkest section (F section). The individual distribution showed the tendency of letter $\wedge$ of gathering at the center and decreasing at the both ends mostly when the light stimuli were at the middle section of tank. The gathering rates at the lighting section were 80.4% when red, 76.4% when white, 69.6% when green and 56.7% when blue. The fishes showed the affinity for the red light mostly, followed by the white light source. The red light and blue light showed the opposite when the light stimuli were at the one end of water tank. The variations of gathering rates as the elapse of time at the lighted section showed the tendency of gradual increasing in the four light sources. The color of light source showing the highest gathering rate within 25-30 minutes of light stimuli was the white, followed by the red.

Selection of Supplemental Light Source for Greenhouse Cultivation of Pepper during Low Radiation Period through Growth and Economic Analysis (생육 및 경제성 분석을 통한 약광기 고추의 온실재배를 위한 적정 보광 광원 선정)

  • To produce a high quality crop, light is an essential environmental factor in greenhouse cultivation. In the winter season, solar radiation is weak than other season. Therefore, using supplemental light during a low radiation period can increase the crop growth and yield. This study was conducted to select the economical supplemental light source for greenhouse cultivation in pepper during the low radiation period. The green pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Super Cheongyang') was transplanted on 5 September 2019. Supplemental lighting treatment was conducted from 1 January 2020 to 31 March 2020. RB LED (red and blue LED, red:blue = 7:3), W LED (white LED, R:G:B = 5:3:2), and HPS (high-pressure sodium lamp) were used as the supplemental light source. Non-treatment was used as the control. The plant height, SPAD, and number of nodes of pepper plants have no significant differences by supplemental light sources. However, the number of ramifications plants was the greatest in RB LED light source. Moreover, supplemental lighting increased photosynthesis of the pepper plant, and especially, the RB LED had the highest photosynthesis rate during supplemental lighting period. Also, the yield of pepper increased in the supplemental lighting treatment than in the control, and the RB LED had the greatest yield than other light sources. The electricity consumption was the highest in W LED and the lowest in HPS light. Through the economic analysis, the RB LED had high economic efficiency. In conclusion, these results suggest that using RB LED for supplemental light source during low radiation in pepper greenhouse increase the yield and economic feasibility.

A Synthesis Ratio of Light Emitting Diodes and Quantization Noise for Increasing Brightness of Head-up Displays (헤드업 디스플레이 휘도 증가를 위한 LED 합성비율과 영상잡음에 대한 연구)

  • This paper studies a light emitting diode(LED) overlapping method of a head-up display that consists of a digital micro device(DMD) panel and a red, green, blue LED in order to increase the brightness of display system and optical output power. This optimization overlapping method removes a quantization noise which occur due to LED overlapping too excessive and stabilizes the junction temperature of LED. In order to reduce junction temperature of LED, the a correlation between a green duty and LED overlapping ratio is studied. Throughout this study, the brightness of head-up display exhibited high increasement ratio of luminance around 33.3 percent at 39 percent overlapping method.
