  • This study was to investigate the origin of meridian through the relationship between Five Su Points and arteriovenous anastomosis. We searched traditional studies about origin of merdian and papers on relationship origin of merdian and blood vessels. As bibliographic search results, we got the conclusion that it is funtion of arteriovenous anastomosis and its anatomical position. Next we compared relationship between it and merdian. We found that Jeong-Acupuncture Points of Five-Su Points and Geun-Acupuncture Points of merdian have close relate to anatomical position(similarities). When we compared relationship between arteriovenous anastomosis and hypertension, we found that Biao Acupuncture Points and Geun Acupuncture Points of merdian have close relate to regulation of blood pressure and blood circulation. According to this results, Five Su Points and arteriovenous anastomosis have close relationship in anatomical position and regulatory function of blood pressure.

  • Objectives : Acupuncture has been used as treatment of disease in the korean medicine. In this study, it was investigated that effects of reduction of acupuncture techniques of five evolutive phase for appling excess in the heart, kidney on cardiovascular system as blood pressure and renin and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in plasma, cardiac hypertrophy. Materials and methods : The experiments were performed on Sprague Dawley rats, 2K1C hypertension model was prepared by constricting the left renal artery with a sliver clip. Animals were then divided into seven groups, 2K1C induced and no treated group (Control), acupuncture on SP3 HT7(AC-1), LR1 KI1 (AC-2), SP3 HT7 LR1 KI1 (AC-3). The treatments were performed once a day for 10 days in rats. Results : The results are that the blood pressure was significantly decreased at 15days in AC-1 group. The cardiac hypertrophy was significantly decrease in AC-3 group. The activity of plasma ANP was increased in all groups without AC-1 group and the that of plasma Rein was decrease in AC-1, AC-2 groups than control group. Conclusions : These results suggest that acupuncture at SP3 HT7 and SP3 HT7 LR1 KI1 can be used as a therapy for controlling renal hypertension induced by 2K1C in the rats.

  • The frequency of the hypertension is increasing as the life level is improved and an average span of the life is extended since we approached modern stage. The hypertension is also dangerous disease which raises fatal complication for example with the bleeding aproplexy and the ischemic attack. The medicinal treatment about the hypertension is required patients to take continually. The acupuncture have been introduced because a medicine-chemical treatment hasn't good influence on the human body. It recently has been processed that studies acupuncture effect for blood pressure and have been found out that blood pressure go down. The object of this study observe the effect of LR3 acupuncture on hypertension in Renal Hypertension RAT induced by 2K1C. The 2K1C model was based on renin-angiotensin system. We put the silver clip in renal artery to induce renal hypertension. We try to observe that LR3 acupuncture influence on the blood pressure and c-fos expression in CVLM, NTS, RVLM. In results, the blood pressure was decreased during acupuncture than before acupuncture, after acupuncture. The heart rate was also decreased during acupuncture than before acupuncture, after acupuncture. The LR3 acupuncture significantly effects on blood pressure and heart rate (P<0.05). The increased expression of c-fos was shown in CVLM, NTS, but not in RVLM. In conclusion, LR3 was relived the action of control upon the hypertension and related with medulla, particularly CVLM, NTS. It needs to be closely examined pharmacological mechanism and studied combination with other acupoints.

  • The Meridians are the pathways of the qi and blood, and can be used as the media of the diagnosis and treatments. There has been numerous studies about the meridians, but as the kinesiology develops recently and the attention for the meridian muscles is growing, the meridian muscles are now recognised as the complementary entity of the meridians. In this document, we considered the meridian muscles and the meridia, following the traditional thoughts of the oriental medicine, as the images of the mountains and the rivers.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to analyze the symptoms of a disease and to elucidate the meaning and rationale of point selection in YuLongFu. Methods : We translated YuLongFu into Korean and analyzed symptoms based upon a comparison of YuLongFu with YuLongGe. The meaning and rationale of point selection in YuLongFu was then inferred from the analysis above. Results and Conclusions : Total 46 points (6 points were repeated) were used in YuLongFu. These points included the collateral Meridian, the four seas, five shu points, lower confluent points, yuan points and eight influential points. Moxibustion and pricking blood therapy were used twice. Generally, threre are a lot of diseases caused by stagnation of Qi and blood in YuLongFu. Point selection, therefore, was usually aimed at promoting flow of Qi and blood.

  • Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Alismatis Rhizoma Herbal-acupuncture( AR-HA) at $KI_{10}$(Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rat. Methods : Rats were injected with LPS to induce nephritis. The rats in $KI_{10}$-AR-HA group were treated with AR-HA, $KI_{10}$-NP group with needle prick, $KI_{10}$-saline group with normal saline injection respectively at $KI_{10}$ three times for a week. Several experimental items were performed including measurements of the numbers of RBC, WBC, neutrophil in blood, the levels of creatinine, $TNF-{\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine, MPO in kidney. Results : Needle prick stimulation at $KI_{10}$ significantly reduced WBC in blood of LPS-stimulated rats. Saline injection at $KI_{10}$ significantly reduced WBC in blood, $TNF-{\alpha}$ in serum, total protein in urine of LPS-stimulated rats. AR-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly reduced WBC, neutrophil in blood, $TNF-{\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusion : AR-HA at $KI_{10}$ has a therapeutic effect on nephritis in LPS-stimulated rat. There may be a synergism between $KI_{10}$(Umgok) stimulation and AR-HA solution.

  • 'Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺法)' and 'Geo-acupuncture treatment(巨刺法)' are the ways of taking acupuncture points on the sound side of a human body and not on the unsound side of a human body to treat disease, 'Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺法)' is applicable to 'Transverse meridian disease(絡脈病)', 'Geo-acupuncture treatment(巨刺法)' is applicable to 'Longitudinal meridian disease(經脈病)'. To diagnose a disease as transverse meridian disease or longitudinal meridian disease depends on 'Feeling pulse at the nine spots of three parts on a body for diagnosis (三部九候診)'. 'Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺法)' takes a 'Rak-acupuncture point(絡穴)' under a wrist and a ankle joint. The method of taking it, two ways, are 'Yu(痏)' and 'The treatment getting some blood(出血療法)'. 'Yu(?)' which is similar to 'Quick-getting acupuncture into and out (單刺法)' means the number of times doing acupuncture and is different from 'The treatment getting some blood (出血療法)' which is typically considered as 'Yu(?)'. Meanwhile, judging from the changes of the methods of feeling pulse for diagnosis and the symptoms of a certain disease, though it is a precondition that 'Biased-Gi(邪氣)' stays at 'The Large transverse meridian(大絡)' in 'The theory of Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺論)', it is hard to consider the symptoms of 'Transverse meridian disease(絡脈病)' described in 'The theory of Mu-acupuncture treatment(繆刺論)' as the pure symptoms of 'Transverse meridian disease(絡脈病)'.

  • It has been known that Tri-origin theory could describe pertinently the dynamic phenomena of life. From the viewpoint of the asian image-mathematics, the most representative Tri-origin could be Four Images, Five Phases, and Six Qi(six kinds of weather). In Korean traditional medicine, Tri-origin could be meridian system, Jangbu viscera system, and body essence vital energy mentality blood system. Here we reasoned whether asian image-mathematics could be applicable to Korean traditional medicine system, and as a conclusion ; Meridian system belongs to Six Qi, Jangbu viscera system belongs to Five Phases, and body essence vital energy mentality blood system belongs to Four Images.
