In this paper, a watermarking method based on the trellis code with multi-layer is proposed. An image is divided $8{\times}8$ block with no overlapping, and compute the discrete cosine transform(DCT) of each block, and the 12 medium-frequency AC terms from each block are extracted. Next it is compared with gaussian random vectors with zero mean and unit variance. As these processing, the embedding vectors with minimum linear correlation can be obtained by Viterbi algorithm at each layer of trellis coding. To evaluate the performance of proposed method, the average bit error rate of watermark message is calculated from different several images.
The concept of Balanced Factorial Experiment (BFE) was introduced by Shah (1958). The conditions for BFE were set up by Kurkjian and Zelen (1963) and Kshirsagar (1966). Generalized Cyclic Factorial Experiment (GCFE), which is more wide class of designs than BFE, do not satisfy the condition of BFE. So all contrasts belonging to the same interaction are not estimated with equal variance. The main purpose of this paper is to show that GCFE have orthogonal factorial structure and the scheme of the size of variances for all normalized contrasts in GCFE is similar to the original intra-block association scheme.
This paper suggests techniques to enhance coding time which is a problem in traditional fractal compression and to improve fidelity of reconstructed images by determining fractal coefficient through adaptive selection of block approximation formula. First, to reduce coding time, we construct a linear list of domain blocks of which characteristics is given by their luminance and variance and then we control block searching time according to the first permissible threshold value. Next, when employing three-level block partition, if a range block of minimum partition level cannot find a domain block which has a satisfying approximation error, we choose new approximation coefficients using a non-linear approximation of luminance term. This boosts the fidelity. Our experiment employing the above methods shows enhancement in the coding time more than two times over traditional coding methods and shows improvement in PSNR value by about 1-3dB at the same compression rate.

In this paper, we propose efficient multispectral image compression using variable block size vector quantization (VQ). In wavelet domain, we perform the variable block size VQ to remove intraband redundancy for a reference band image that has the lowest spatial variance and the best correlation with other band. And in wavelet domain, we perform the classified interband prediction to remove interband redundancy for the remaining bands. Then error wavelet coefficients between original image and predicted image are residual variable block size vector quantized to reduce prediction error. Experiments on remotely sensed satellite image show that coding efficiency of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional method.

This paper presents a content-based image retrieval (CBIR) method using the combination of color and texture features. As a color feature, a color autocorrelogram is chosen which is extracted from the hue and saturation components of a color image. As a texture feature, BDIP(block difference of inverse probabilities) and BVLC(block variation of local correlation coefficients) are chosen which are extracted from the value component. When the features are extracted, the color autocorrelogram and the BVLC are simplified in consideration of their calculation complexity. After the feature extraction, vector components of these features are efficiently quantized in consideration of their storage space. Experiments for Corel and VisTex DBs show that the proposed retrieval method yields 9.5% maximum precision gain over the method using only the color autucorrelogram and 4.0% over the BDIP-BVLC. Also, the proposed method yields 12.6%, 14.6%, and 27.9% maximum precision gains over the methods using wavelet moments, CSD, and color histogram, respectively.
Background Pain in the postoperative body contouring patient has traditionally been managed with narcotic medication. In an effort to minimize side effects and prevent addiction, plastic surgeons are searching for novel ways to provide adequate analgesia, one of which is nerve blocks. This study was conducted with a meta-analysis that evaluates the efficacy of these blocks for patients who undergo breast surgery. Methods A search of the PubMed/MEDLINE database for articles including the terms "post-operative analgesia" OR "postoperative pain management" AND "in plastic surgery" OR "in cosmetic surgery" OR "in elective surgery" in February 2019 generated five studies on elective breast augmentation and reduction mammoplasty that reported pain scores and quantities of opioids consumed. Independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, and a random effects model were implemented for evaluation. Results A total of 317 patients were identified as having undergone body contouring of the breast, about half of which received a nerve block. Pain scores on a 1-10 scale and opioid dose-equivalents were calculated. Those who were blocked had an average score of 2.40 compared to 3.64 for those who did not (P<0.001), and required an average of 5.20 less narcotic doses (P<0.001). Pain relief following subpectoral augmentation was best achieved with type-II blocks as opposed to type-I and type-II with serratus plane (P<0.001). Conclusions The opioid epidemic has extended to all surgical specialties. Implementation of a nerve block seems to be an efficacious and cost-effective mechanism to not only help with post-operative pain, but also lower the need for narcotics, especially in subpectoral augmentation.

One of the most important factor of esthetic prosthesis is the color of the teeth. Zirconia is produced in the process of design, milling, coloring, drying, and sintering. The effect of the drying degree of zirconia colorant on the color tone is examined. For the experiment, a total of 45 zirconia specimens(15 for each) were fabricated by using cad/cam system. The zirconia specimens(L block(LAZOR), Z block(Zircos-E block posterior), A block(AlphaZ)) were then subjected to zirconia sintering in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, using a chemical coloring agent to Non-drying(0sec), intermediate (10sec), and completely dried (10min) temperature holding times. The color tone was measured using a spectrophotometer. The results were analyzed with a One-way analysis of variance and the Tukey post-hoc test (${\alpha}=.05$) The $L^*$ values of L, A specimens, $a^*$ values of A specimens, and $b^*$ values of Z specimens were not statistically different according to the degree of drying (p>0.05), While the $L^*$ value of Z specimen, $a^*$ value of L, Z specimen, $b^*$ values of L, A specimens were statistically different according to the degree of drying(p <0.05). In conclusion, the drying of zirconia colourants improves zirconia brightness and increases the optical properties of the enamel.

Adaptive Gaussian filter (AGF) is a recently developed switching filter to remove salt and pepper noise. AGF first directly identifies pixels of gray levels 0 and 255 as noise pixels, and then only restored noise pixels using a Gaussian filter with adaptive variance based on the estimated noise density. AGF usually achieves better denoising effect in comparison with other filters. However, AGF still fails to obtain good denoising effect on images with noise-free pixels of gray levels 0 and 255, due to its severe false alarm in its noise detection stage. To alleviate this issue, a modified version of AGF is proposed in this paper. Specifically, the proposed filter first performs noise detection via an image block based noise density estimation and sequential noise density guided rectification on the noise detection result of AGF. Then, a modified Gaussian filter with adaptive variance and window size is used to restore the detected noise pixels. The proposed filter has been extensively evaluated on two representative grayscale images and the Berkeley image dataset BSDS300 with 300 images. Experimental results showed that the proposed filter achieved better denoising effect over the state-of-the-art filters, especially on images with noise-free pixels of gray levels 0 and 255.

In this study, the accuracy of three dimensional location was improved by self calibration bundle method with additional parameter, which is to correct systematic error through detection and elimination of the gross error from updated reference variance for observation values in photogram-metry. In this study, with the result of comparing accuracy of each method, correcting systematic error is more effective after gross error detection and when observation values are contained more than two gross error the point with maximum correlation value is detected by masking effect of least square adjustment.

A computer-based low back muscle evaluation system was designed to simultaneously acquire, process, display, quantify, and correlate electromyographic(EMG) activity with muscle force, and range of motion(ROM) in the lumbar muscle of human. This integrated multi-channel system was designed around notebook PC. Each channel consisted of a time and frequency domain block, and T-F(time-frequency) domain block. The captured data in each channel was used to display and Quantify : raw EMG, histogram, zero crossing, turn, RMS(root mean square), variance, mean, power spectrum, median frequency, mean frequency, wavelet transform, Wigner-Ville distribution, Choi-Williams distribution, and Cohen-Posch distribution. To evaluate the performance of the designed system, the static and dynamic contraction experiments from lumbar(waist) level of human were done. The experiment performed in five subjects, and various parameters were tested and compared. This system could equally well be modified to allow acquisition, processing, and analysis of EMG signals in other studies and applications.
