Observations suggest the star formation in nuclear rings of barred galaxies proceeds episodically in time and sometimes asymmetrically in space. Existing theories and numerical simulations suggest that the episodic star formation is perhaps due to either supernova feedback combined with fluid instabilities or time-varying mass inflow rate. However, it has been challenging to discern what dominates in shaping the star formation history because the effects of the inflow and feedback are blended in global simulations of nuclear rings. To understand their effects separately, we construct semi-global models of nuclear rings, which treat the mass inflow rate as a model parameter. By running simulations with the inflow rates kept constant or oscillating in time, we find that the star formation rate (SFR) of the rings varies coherently with the inflow rate, while the feedback is responsible only for stochastic fluctuations of the SFR within a factor of two. The feedback instead plays an important role in maintaining the vertical dynamical equilibrium and setting the depletion time. While the asymmetry in the inflow does not necessarily lead to the asymmetry in the star formation, we find that the rings undergo a transient period of lopsided star formation when the inflow rate of only one dust lane is suddenly increased.
The present study was conducted to devlop and appropriate retirement home model for the elderly in terms of clothing and textiles; nutrition, health, and foodservice; housing and environment; and psychological adaptation. Specifically, the purposes of the study were: 1) to provide basic guidelines for clothing by comparing the clothing behavior of the elderly living in the retirement home and those living in their own homes with family, 2) to provide basic guidelines for balanced diet and effective foodservice, 3) to develop an ideal life space and facilities, and 4) to assess the psychological characteristics of the elderly. Questionnaires, observation, experimental method, and survey of literature were used for the study. Clothing behavior showed that the elderly were much concerned about clothing, and they preferred comfortable as well as fashionable designs. The elderly in the retirement homes complained of a lack of quantity and variety in clothing. They preferred natural fiber rather than blended fabrics. Flame resistance, thermal insulation, and flexibility of textile fabrics were found to be prime considerations in manufacturing and selecting clothing materials for the elderly. The health status of the surveyed elderly was generally good, but some poor eating habits were observed. Dietary nutrients intakes were generally sufficient, but several nutrients intakes were insufficient. The level of equipment in the kitchens of the institutions was low. Furthermore, the employment rate of dietitians in institutional settings was extremely low. This resulted in a lack of systematic foodservice management. Residents in the institution were generally satisfied with present life space and facilities but this was mainly because of abandonment, adaptation, and past experience. Optimal allocation of residents per bedroom and an adequate design for storage, bathroom, utility room, and dining room were recommended. The comparison of psychological status of the elderly living at home was more stable than those living in an institution. The emotional state of the elderly living in the institution was characterized by loneliness; they did not have close interpersonal relationships or future plans. An appropriate model for the elderly was developed on the basis of these findings.

The use of high-performance shotcrete lining is indispensable to improve long-term durability of a tunnel and to apply the single-shell tunnelling method. Among a lot of shotcrete admixtures, pozzolan materials such as silica fume have positive effects on increasing the strength and the durability of shotcrete. It is also well known that a cement-based accelerator is much faster in setting time and more eco-friendly than conventional accelerators. This study aimed to improve the properties of wet-mix shotcrete by incorporating with Metakaolin and the calcium aluminate based accelerator. To compare Metakaolin with silica fume, mixing ratios of each material were varied as 4% and 8% of cement weight. Moreover, Metakaolin was blended with silica fume, and their binder was also set to 4% and 8% of cement weight. At each mixing condition, setting time, compressive strength, flexural strength, permeability and freezing-thawing resistance were measured. From the experiments, it was revealed Metakaolin could be a substituting material for silica fume.
In Lee, Kang & Byun (2001) the discovery of Raman scattered 6545 A feature was reported in symbiotic stars and the planetary nebula M2-9. The broad emission feature around 6545 A is formed as a result of Raman scattering of He II n = 6 $\to$ n = 2 photons by atomic hydrogen. In this paper, we introduce a method to compute the equivalent width of He II $\lambda$ 1025 line and present an optical spectrum of the symbiotic star RR Telescopii as an example for a detailed illustration. In this spectrum, we pay attention to the broad H$\alpha$ wings and the Raman scattered He II 6545 feature. The broad Ha wings are also proposed to be formed through Raman scattering of continuum around Ly$\beta$ by Lee (2000), and therefore we propose that the equivalent width of the He II $\lambda$ 1025 emission line is obtained by a simple comparison of the strengths of the 6545 feature and the broad H$\alpha$ wings. We prepare a template H$\alpha$ wing profile from continuum radiation around Ly$\beta$ with the neutral scattering region that is supposed to be responsible for the formation of Raman scattered He II 6545 feature. Isolation of the 6545 feature that is blended with [N II] $\lambda$ 6548 is made by using the fact that [N II] $\lambda$ 6584 is always 3 times stronger than [N II] $\lambda$ 6548. We also fit the 6545 feature by a Gaussian which has a width 6.4 times that of the He II $\lambda$ 6527 line. A direct comparison of these two features for RR Tel yields the equivalent width $EW_{Hel025} = 2.3{\AA}$ of He II $\lambda$ 1025 line. Even though this far UV emission line is not directly observable due to heavy interstellar extinction, nearby He II lines such as He II $\lambda$ 1085 line may be observed using far UV space instruments, which will verify this calculation and hence the origins of various features occurring in spectra around H$\alpha$.

A tailless or Blended-Wing-Body(BWB) shaped configuration is highlighted for UCAV with low RCS characteristics. The BWB configuration is characterized by its directional static instability and low controllability. To control the directional movement of the BWB configured vehicle, directional thrust vectoring equipment or drag rudder typed control surfaces which utilize the drag differences of the wing can be considered. This paper deals with a BWB shaped configuration using a spoiler and describes the lateral-directional aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle. In addition, it is shwon that the lateral-directional motion can be controlled effectively by using the classical PI control structure. This control law is verified by flight test and showed adequate for the tailless BWB shaped UAV.
The purpose of this study is to improve and develop the quality of non-face-to-face classes according to the types of presence by analyzing the effects of teaching presence and learning presence on the learning satisfaction of the non-face-to-face classes that have been suddenly conducted due to COVID-19. For this purpose, a survey on online classes of H University in Gwangju Metropolitan City was conducted to analyze learning satisfaction, teaching presence (learning design, direct promotion), and learning presence (cognitive presence, social presence). The results of the analysis showed that the learning contents of cognitive presence, which is a sub-factor of learning presence, were understood (=.589, p<.001), the direct promotion (=.420, p<.001), and the learning design (=.397, p<.01), which are the sub-factors of teaching presence, were influential in order. This means that the suddenly changed teaching method should have an attitude to improve the intimacy between the instructor and the fellow learners with positive emotional exchange or interaction. The instructor should try to overcome the limitations of time and space through blended learning that is both online and offline for high quality learning design, but the learning medium and learning method considering the physical fatigue of the learner should be developed.
From the line ratios of Si III] 1892 to C III] 1909 (Feibelman & Aller 1987), we estimated the BLR electron densities and their changes of Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 7469 using IUE spectra observed from June 11 to July 29, 1996 (Wanders et al. 1997). We separated blended Si III] and C III] lines using the STARLINK/DIPSO and measured their fluxes within the error of $12.4\%\;and\;6.6\%,$ respectively. Electron density fluctuated from $10^{9.69}\;to\;10^{10.93}$ during about two month period, i.e. 17.3 times density variation within 50 days. We also derived time delays from UV emission line variations .elative to the continuum $(at\;1315{\AA}):$ 2 days for C IV, 4 days for C III], 8 days for Si III]. This suggests that their stratified UV line emission regions are at 0.002 pc, 0.004 pc and 0.006 pc, respectively, from the central region. Based on the BLR sizes and their rotation velocities deduced from the line profiles, we estimate the central black hole mass as about $10^6M_{\odot}$
Despite many measures, still from time to time catastrophic events occur, even after reviewing potential scenarios with HAZID tools. Therefore, it is evident that in order to prevent such events, answering the question: "What can go wrong?" requires more enhanced HAZID tools. Recently, new system based approaches have been proposed, such as STPA (system-theoretic process analysis) and Blended Hazid, but for the time being for several reasons their availability for general use is very limited. However, by making use of available advanced software and technology, traditional HAZID tools can still be improved in degree of completeness of identifying possible hazards and in work time efficiency. The new HAZID methodology proposed here, the Data-based semi-Automatic HAZard IDentification (DAHAZID), seeks to identify possible scenarios with a semi-automated system approach. Based on the two traditional HAZID tools, Hazard Operability (HAZOP) Study and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), the new method will minimize the limitations of each method. This will occur by means of a thorough systematic preparation before the tools are applied. Rather than depending on reading drawings to obtain connectivity information of process system equipment elements, this research is generating and presenting in prepopulated work sheets linked components together with all required information and space to note HAZID results. Next, this method can be integrated with proper guidelines regarding process safer design and hazard analysis. To examine its usefulness, the method will be applied to a case study.

In this paper, we apply the evolutionary algorithm to the combinatorial optimization problem. Evolutionary algorithm useful for the optimization of the large space problem. This paper propose a method for the reuse of wastes of light water in atomic reactor system. These wastes contain several reusable elements, and they should be carefully selected and blended to satisfy requirements as an input material to the heavy water atomic reactor system. This problem belongs to an NP-hard like the 0/1 knapsack problem. Two evolutionary strategies are used as approximation algorithms in the highly constrained combinatorial optimization problem. One is the traditional strategy, using random operator with evaluation function, and the other is heuristic based search that uses the vector operator reducing between goal and current status. We also show the method which perform the feasible test and solution evaluation by using the vectored knowledge in problem domain. Finally, We compare the simulation results of using random operator and vector operator for such combinatorial optimization problems.

Polyethylene used as insulating material of power cable is nonpolar and low dielectric loss polymer. But it has defects of tree generation and accumulation of space charge by an applied voltage resulting in the decreased life and performance. To solve these problems, mixed films with LLDPE and EVA that is similar to LLDPE at physical properties in case of low VA contents were made and tested due to the blend ratios of 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50[wt%] respectively. We investigated AC electrical treeing characteristics to acquire the best mixture ratio and effect of the tip radius of needle electrode to develop excellent treeproof materials. The degree of crystallity calculated with XRD pattern is higher for pure LLDPE, 50:50 and 70:30. For DSC analysis, it is confirmed that the melting points of mixed specimens are lower than that of pure LLDPE and higher than pure EVA's. The shape of tree propagation showed that pure EVA was electrical tree shape of the branch type, pure LLDPE and blended specimens was able to confirm tree shape of the bush type. As the tip radius go up in the blend ratio 70:30 specimen, the tree inception voltage rise. Probably the reason is the relaxation of electric field in the specimen with bigger tip ratio. As the 6 specimens were applied AC 5[KV],7.5[KV],10[KV] respectively, tree growth length is far shorter in the specimen with blend ratio 70:30, 50:50 than in pure EVA and pure LLDPE specimen. Conclusively, it is confirmed that specimens of which blend ratio are 70:30 and 50:50 are good in electrical tree retardant characteristics, especially, 70:30 has lower dielectric loss than 50:50 and its mixture ratio is the best.
