  • With increasing content of granulated blase furnace slag in cement, the content of capillary pores in the mortar decreases and later age strength of the concrete. Therefore, this provides greater reserves study is carried out to estimate frost resistance of high-strength concrete specimens with water cement ratios using blast-furnace slag. 1. Blast furnace concrete is comparatively more good frost resistance than normal concrete. 2. As the blast furnace slag increases, the quantity of pores with a radius of more than 30nanometer decreses.

  • In this paper, the properties of Interlocking block contained blast furnace slag cement are compared with that with O.P.C.(ordinary portland cement) and are analyzed under various mix proportions and the dosage of AE agent. According to the experimental results, compressive strength and flexural strength of interlocking block with blast furnace slag cement are lower than that with OPC. Also the strength and the ratio of absorption decrease with higher dosage of AE agent. although interlocking block with OPC has better performance than that of blast furnace slag in the side of quality, it is worth while to use the blast furnace slag as materials of interlocking block considered the side of recycling of resources and economy.

  • The enhanced slag fineness and the batch water of low water-to-cement ratio(W/C) were employed in order to improve the early strength of blast-furnace slag blended cement at low temperature. A grinding aid was used to grind the blast-furnace slag into the fineness of 6,280$\textrm{cm}^2$/g (Blaine), and this fine slag was then homogeneously mixed with the ordinary Portland cement to produce the blast-furnace slag blended cement containing 40% slag by weight composition. On the other hand, the batch water could be reduced from W/C=0.50 (KS L 5105) to W/C=0.33 through a commercial, naphthalene type superplasticizer. Through the method mentioned above, the early strength of the blast-furnace slag blended cement at low temperature could be enhanced even somewhat higher than the Portland cement strength. And the microsturcture of the cement was studied by both the pore structure analysis and the A.C. impedance measurement.

  • In this study, to present the use of the blase furnace slag fly ash derived from a large amount of the industrial products with the early strength reduction of it prevented, the initial strength is measured after a large quantity of fly ash and the required stimulus agent for the high development of the initial strength was added in blast furnace slag cement. As the results, in spite of the much addition of fly ash in blast furnace slag, the long-age strength of blast furnace slag cement was able to be improved by a proper amount of stimulus agent, and was as high as that of ordinary portland cement.

  • Blast furnace slag is one kind of industrial by-product and was utilized with recycled fine aggregates for the manufacture of zero cement mortar. As the blast furnace slag was from different areas, the strength of the specimen using blast furnace slag showed different performances. In this study, blast furnace slag generated in different areas in Korea has been chosen, fundamental performances of the blast furnace slag blended mortar has been tested to evaluate the quality of the blast furnace slag. Results showed that difference for flowability is limited. As the alkali activation of the blast furnace slag, the compressive strength showed different results. The flexural strength showed little difference when the aggregates and types of blast furnace slag changed.

  • Nowadays, as to reduce the emission volume of CO2, blast furnace slag has been widely used to replacement of cement. Techniques about using industrial by-products has been extensively studied. For the previous study, blast furnace slag has been used with recycled fine aggregates. In thess study, considering about the different properties of blast furnace slag, as the change of blaine and chemical performances of blast furnace slag, the results of flowability and compressive strength has been analysed.

  • The objective of this study is to find the strength properties of concrete using blast furnace slag. Its mechanical strength properties investigated include compressive strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength. The main expeirmental variables were cement type, coarse aggregate size(19, 25mm), and water/cement ratio(28, 32, 36%). The principal results obtained from this study are as follows ; it was possible to obtain the compressive strength of $500{\sim}700kg/cm^2$ concrete by using the blast furnace slag. Therefore, blast furnace slag was proved to be superior to ordinary portland cement in manufacturing the high strength concrete with the same mix conditions. In the near furture, concrete using blast furnace slag is expected to be practically used in the field.

  • The effects of blast furnace slag, hwang-toh, and reinforcing fiber on the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete using blast furnace slag coarse aggregates have been evaluated in this study. The effect of the depending on replacement ratio of blast furnace slag to cement was investigated such that the replacement ratio was varied to 0 %, 25 % and 50 %. Also, the replacement ratios of hwang-toh were 0, 20 and 30 %. The polyvinyl alcohol fiber was used for the reinforcing fiber. A series of pH, unit mass, and void ratio tests have been performed to study the physical properties of the porous concrete using blast furnace slag coarse aggregates with the polyvinyl alcohol fiber and the replacement ratios of blast furnace slag, hwang-toh, while a series of compressive tests have been performed to evaluate the strength property depending on polyvinyl alcohol fiber and the replacement ratios of blast furnace slag, hwang-toh. The test results indicated that the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete using blast furnace slag coarse aggregates is affected by the replacement ratio of blast furnace slag, and the fiber contents. According to the tests with polyvinyl alcohol fiber contents, the void ratio was decreased and the compressive strength was upgraded.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest concrete mix proportioning design using Blast-furnace slag cement. The mix conditions are specified by concrete strength(180~400kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$), slump$(15\pm2cm)$m and air volume$(4.5\pm1%)$. From the result of concrete mix proportioning design using Blast-furnace slag cement, unit water content can be reduced by 3~8% comparing with OPC. The relationship between strength at 28days and cement water ratio is as follow. when blast-furnace slag cement is used: $\sigma_{28}$=304.OC/W-296.8. Super-plasticizer have to be used to get a slump of 15cm when water/cement ratio is less than 45%.

  • The object of this study is to investigate the strength characteristics and the freeze-thaw resistance of high strength concrete incorporating fine blast furnace slag. Major experimental variables were the water/cement ratio, maximum size of coarse aggregate, and cement types such as ordinary portland and slag cement. The results were as follows ; The workability of fresh concrete incorporating fine blast furnace slag was better than that of OPC(ordinary Portland cement) in terms of slump. The freeze-thaw resistance showed better than that of OPC, keeping more than 90% of relative modules of elasticity after 506 cycles and showing only a hair crack at surface without serious damage. Thus, the fine blast furnace slag might be recycled at concrete to make high strength concrete at fields.
