one key goal of software testing is to generate a 'good' test data set, which is consideres as the most difficult and time-consuming task. This paper discusses how genetic algorithns can be used for automatic generation of test data set for software testing. We employ mutation testing to show the effectiveness of genetic algorithms (GAs) in automatic test data generation. The approach presented in this paper is different from other in that test generation process requireas no lnowledge of implementation details of a program under test. In addition, we have conducted some experiments and compared our approach with random testing which is also regarded as a black-box test generation technique to show its effectiveness.
In the development process of an ECU (Electrical Control Unit), numerous tests are necessary to evaluate the performance and control algorithm. The vehicle based test is expensive and requires long time. Also, it is difficult to guarantee the safety of the test driver. To overcome the various problems faced in the development process, the ECU test has been done using HIL (Hardware In the Loop). The HIL environment has the actual hardware including an ECU and a virtual vehicle model. In this paper, the test platform environment is devloped for the AWS ECU black box test. The test platform is built on HIL (Hardware In the Loop) architecture. Using the developed test platform, the control algorithm of the AWS ECU can be evaluated under the virtual driving condition of the bi-modal tram. Driving conditions, such as a front steering angle and vehicle velocity, are defined through the PC (Personal Computer) input. Input signals are transformed to electrical signals in the PC. These signals become the input conditions of the AWS ECU. The AWS ECU is stimulated by arbitory input conditons, and responses of the system are observed.
In this paper we introduce formulae for estimating the failure rate of a large scaled software by using the Bayesian rule when a black-box random testing which selects an element(test case) at random with equally likely probability, is performed. A program or software can be treated as a mathematical function with a well-defined (input)domain and range. For a large scaled software, their input domains can be partitioned into multiple subdomains and exhaustive testing is not generally practical. Testing is proceeding with selecting a subdomain, and then picking a test case from within the selected subdomain. Whether or not the proportion of selecting one of the subdomains is assumed probability, we developed the formulae either case by using Bayesian rule with gamma distribution as a prior distribution.
It is getting higher the demand on a good sound in a car. Like some other sensory qualities, achieving a good sound is still treated as a black-box followed by the individual taste of tuning engineers. This study aims to define the attributes of a good car audio sound and the assessment factors affecting the sound quality. With a variety of surveys on professional listening groups and car audio installers, 26 most frequently used vocabularies are selected as typical presentations of car audio sound quality. After repetitions of listening tests with deliberately selected test CD, pre-recorded 15 different digital car-recordings, headphones replay system, and three different listening groups, it is proved that there are at least 5 different assessment factors which significantly affect the car audio sound quality. They are high fidelity, spectral balance, tonal accuracy, sound stage and acoustic fault.
Airbone software must comply the DO-178B standard in order to be certified by the FAA. The standard requires the unit testing of safety-critical software to meet the coverage criterion called MC/DC(Modified Condition/Decision Coverage). Although MC/DC is known to be effective in finding errors related to safety, it is also true that generating test cases which satisfy the MC/DC criterion is not easy. This paper presents a tool named MD-SAT which generates MC/DC test cases with SAT(SATisfiability) technology. It can be employed for generating diverse test cases in tools implementing various testing techniques including decision table based test, cause-effect graphing, and state-based test.

Many railway signalling functions have increasingly depended on computer software with recent development in computing technology, leading to evolution into more flexible and intelligent railway signalling system. Meanwhile, software programs are likely to have many errors and the cost incurred by such errors has increased. Especially, if fatal software error occurs during railway operation, it may result in loss of lives. So the software verification and validation have become more important. It is needed for software functional safety tool to support these, but most commercial tools depend on direct access to the system's memory, resulting in many difficulties in application. Owing to such difficulties and complexity, they are rarely used in railway signalling system software validation. In this study, a new testing tool for software functional testing through an external interface that can be easily used in functional testing of software was developed. Such testing tool allows development and analysis of test cases for black-box testing through analysis of actually used interface protocols, leading to increased user convenience.

This paper presents a procedure to extract lane line models using a set of proposed methods. Firstly, an image warping method based on homography is proposed to transform a target image into an image which is efficient to find lane pixels within a certain region in the image. Secondly, a method to use the combination of the results of edge detection and HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Lightness) transform is proposed to detect lane candidate pixels with reliability. Thirdly, erroneous candidate lane pixels are eliminated using a selection area method. Fourthly, a method to fit lane pixels to quadratic polynomials is proposed. In order to test the validity of the proposed procedure, a set of black-box images captured under varying illumination and noise conditions were used. The experimental results show that the proposed procedure could overcome the problems of color-only and edge-only based methods and extract lane pixels and model the lane line geometry effectively within less than 0.6 seconds per frame under a low-cost computing environment.
The increase in vehicle purchases worldwide is having a very significant impact on the availability of parking spaces. In particular, since it is difficult to secure a parking space in an urban area, it may be of great help to the driver to check vehicle parking information in advance. However, the current parking lot information is still operated semi-manually, such as notifications. Therefore, in this study, we propose a system for detecting a parking space using a relatively simple image processing method based on an image taken from the sky and evaluate its performance. The proposed method first converts the captured RGB image into a black-and-white binary image. This is to simplify the calculation for detection using discrete information. Next, a morphological operation is applied to increase the clarity of the binary image, and a template mask in the form of a bounding box indicating a parking space is applied to check the parking state. Twelve image samples and 2181 total of test, were used for the experiment, and a threshold of 40% was used to detect each parking space. The experimental results showed that information on the availability of parking spaces for parking users was provided with an accuracy of 95%. Although the number of experimental images is somewhat insufficient to address the generality of accuracy, it is possible to confirm the possibility of parking space detection with a simple image processing method.

To deal with the potential XSS vulnerabilities in the source code of the power communication network, an XSS vulnerability detection method combining the static analysis method with the dynamic testing method is proposed. The static analysis method aims to analyze the structure and content of the source code. We construct a set of feature expressions to match malignant content and set a "variable conversion" method to analyze the data flow of the code that implements interactive functions. The static analysis method explores the vulnerabilities existing in the source code structure and code content. Dynamic testing aims to simulate network attacks to reflect whether there are vulnerabilities in web pages. We construct many attack vectors and implemented the test in the Selenium tool. Due to the combination of the two analysis methods, XSS vulnerability discovery research could be conducted from two aspects: "white-box testing" and "black-box testing". Tests show that this method can effectively detect XSS vulnerabilities in the source code of the power communication network.

The engagement control software embedded in the weapon control computer of the fire control center for air defense missile system is large-scale real-time software. The use of typical software development methodologies is not appropriate to develop such large-scale embedded software in terms of reusability, reliability, and productivity for the reason that it is significantly complicated, and highly dependent on hardware platforms and developers. In this paper, a model-based software architecture using components based on UML 2.0 for the engagement control software is presented in order to solve these problems. This software architecture is verified using the black-box test, the scenario-based test, and the Ethernet packet monitoring test methods. The results demonstrate that the developed software architecture can be employed to enhance reusability, maintainability, and productivity of large-scale embedded software.
