  • Recently, the spread of IoT technology has been spreading, and it has been applied to all industrial fields such as home / home appliance / medical care. Due to the low specification, low power consumption characteristic and communication data characteristic of IoT, implementation of existing algorithm is difficult thing. From this reason, we have proposed for the first time that encryption and decryption can be proceeded by introducing a kind of variable length bit XOR operation method which changes a variable the bit length value by using carry up and carry down method. We confirmed the practicality of encrypting short message data frequently processed by IoT device / QR code / RFID / NFC without changing the size of data before and after encryption.

  • MPEG-4 is a digital bit stream format and associated protocols for representing multimedia content consisting of natural and synthetic audio, video and object data. This paper describes an application where multiple audio/visual data stream are combined in MPEG-4 and transported via MPTG-2 transport streams(TS). Also, this paper describes how to convert MPEG-4 Over MPEG-2 TS bit streams into MP4 file which Is designed to contain the media information of an MPEG-4 presentation in a flexible, extensible format. MPEG-4 is presented in the form of audio-visual objects that are arranged into an audio-visual scene by means of a scene descriptor and is composed of the audio-visual objects by means of an object descriptor. These descriptor streams are not defined MPEG-2 TS. So. this paper focuses on handling of these descriptors and parsing TS streams to get MPEG-4 data. The MPEG-4 Over MPEG-2 TS to MP4 format converter is implemented in the demonstrated systems.

An Efficient Bit Stream Instruction-set for Network Packet Processing Applications (네트워크 패킷 처리를 위한 효율적인 비트 스트림 명령어 세트)

  • This paper proposes a new set of instructions to improve the packet processing capacity of a network processor. The proposed set of instructions is able to achieve more efficient packet processing by accelerating integration of packet headers. Furthermore, a hardware configuration dedicated to processing overlay instructions was designed to reduce additional hardware cost. For this purpose, the basic architecture for the network processor was designed using LISA and the overlay block was optimized based on the barrel shifter. The block was synthesized to compare the area and the operation delay, and allocated to a C-level macro function using the compiler known function (CKF). The improvement in performance was confirmed by comparing the execution cycle and the execution time of an application program. Experiments were conducted using the processor designer and the compiler designer from Coware. The result of synthesis with the TSMC ($0.25{\mu}m$) from Synopsys indicated a reduction in operation delay by 20.7% and an improvement in performance of 30.8% with the proposed set of instructions for the entire execution cycle.

B2V-Tree: An Indexing Scheme for Partial Match Queries on Wireless Data Streams (B2V-Tree: 무선 데이타 스트림에서 부분 부합 질의를 위한 색인 기법)

  • In mobile distributed systems the data on the air can be accessed by a lot of mobile clients. And, we need an indexing scheme in order to energy-efficiently access the data on the wireless broadcast stream. In conventional indexing schemes, they use the values of primary key attributes and construct tree-structured index. Therefore, the conventional indexing schemes do not support content-based retrieval queries such as partial-match queries. In this paper we propose an indexing scheme, called B2V-Tree, which supports partial match queries on wireless broadcast data stream. For this purpose, we construct a tree-structured index which is composed of bit-vectors, where the bit-vectors are generated from data records through multi-attribute hashing.

Motion Vector Recovery Scheme for H.264/AVC (H.264/AVC을 위한 움직임 벡터 복원 방법)

  • To transmit video bit stream over low bandwidth such as wireless channel, high compression algorithm like H.264 codec is exploited. In transmitting high compressed video bit-stream over low bandwidth, packet loss causes severe degradation in image quality. In this paper, a new algorithm for recovery of missing or erroneous motion vector is proposed. Considering that the missing or erroneous motion vectors in blocks are closely correlated with those of neighboring blocks. Motion vector of neighboring blocks are clustered according to average linkage algorithm clustering and a representative value for each cluster is determined to obtain the candidate motion vector sets. As a result, simulation results show that the proposed method dramatically improves processing time compared to existing H.264/AVC. Also the proposed method is similar to existing H.264/AVC in terms of visual quality.

Automatic Video Genre Classification Method in MPEG compressed domain (MPEG 부호화 영역에서 Video Genre 자동 분류 방법)

  • Video summary is one of the tools which can provide the fast and effective browsing for a lengthy video. Video summary consists of many key-frames that could be defined differently depending on the video genre it belongs to. Consequently, the video summary constructed by the uniform manner might lead into inadequate result. Therefore, identifying the video genre is the important first step in generating the meaningful video summary. We propose a new method that can classify the genre of the video data in MPEC compressed bit-stream domain. Since the proposed method operates directly on the compressed bit-stream without decoding the frame, it has merits such as simple calculation and short processing time. In the proposed method, only the visual information is utilized through the spatial-temporal analysis to classify the video genre. Experiments are done for 6 genres of video: Cartoon, commercial, Music Video, News, Sports, and Talk Show. Experimental result shows more than 90% of accuracy in genre classification for the well -structured video data such as Talk Show and Sports.

The Bit-Map Trip Structure for Giga-Bit Forwarding Lookup in High-Speed Routers (고속 라우터의 기가비트 포워딩 검색을 위한 비트-맵 트라이 구조)

  • Recently much research for developing forwarding table that support fast router without employing both special hardware and new protocols. This article introduces a new forwarding data structure based on the software to enable forwarding lookup to be penormed at giga-bit speed. The forwarding table is known as a bottleneck of the routers penormance due to its high complexity proportional to the forwarding table size. The recent research that based on the software uses a Patricia trie and its variants. and also uses a hash function with prefix length key and others. The proposed forwarding table structure construct a forwarding table by the bit stream array in which it constructs trie from routing table prefix entries and it represents each pointer pointing the child node and the associated forwarding table entry with one bit The trie structure and routing prefix pointer need a large memory when representing those by linked-list or array. but in the proposed data structure, the needed memory size is small enough since it represents information with one bit. Additionally, by use a lookup method that start searching at desired middle level we can shorten the search path. The introduced data structure. called bit-map trie shows that we can implement a fast forwarding engine on the conventional Pentium processor by reducing the backbone routing table fits into Level 2 cache of Pentium II processor and shortens the searching path. Our experiments to evaluate the performance of proposed method show that this bit-map trie accomplishes 5.7 million lookups per second.

Fast Non-Adjacent Form (NAF) Conversion through a Bit-Stream Scan (비트열 스캔을 통한 고속의 Non-Adjacent Form (NAF) 변환)

  • As a special form of the signed-digit representation, the NAF(non-adjacent form) minimizes the hamming weight by reducing the average density of the non-zero bits from the binary representation of the positive integer k. Due to this advantage, the NAF is used in various fields; in particular, it is actively used in cryptology. The existing NAF-conversion algorithm, however, is problematic because the conversion speed decreases when the LSB(least significant bit) frequently becomes "1" during the binary positive integer conversion process. This paper suggests a method for the improvement of the NAF-conversion speed for which the problems that occur in the existing NAF-conversion process are solved. To verify the performance improvement of the algorithm, the CPU cycle for the various inputs were measured on the ATmega128, a low-performance 8-bit microprocessor. The results of this study show that, compared with the existing algorithm, the suggested algorithm not only improved the processing speed of the major patterns by 20% or more on average, but it also reduced the NAF-conversion time by 13% or more.

Rainfall-Runoff Characteristics in a Jeju Stream considering Antecedent Precipitation (선행강우를 고려한 제주하천 유출특성 분석)

  • The rainfall-runoff characteristics in Jeju Island significantly differ from those in inland, due to highly permeable geologic features driven by volcanic island. Streams are usually sustained in the dry conditions and thereby the rainfall-runoff characteristics changes in terms of initiating stream discharge and its types, depending highly on the antecedent precipitation. Among various the rainfall-runoff characteristics, lag time mainly used for flood warning system in river and direct runoff ratio for determining water budget to estimate groundwater recharge quantity are practically crucial. They are expected to vary accordingly with the given antecedent precipitation. This study assessed the lag time in the measured hydrograph and direct runoff ratio, which are especially in the upstream watershed having the outlet as $2^{nd}$ Dongsan bridge of Han stream, Jeju, based upon several typhoon events such as Khanun, Bolaven, Tembin, Sanba as well as a specific heavy rainfall event in August 23, 2012. As results, considering that the lag time changed a bit over the rainfall events, the averaged lag time without antecedent precipitation was around 1.5 hour, but it became increased with antecedent precipitation. Though the direct run-off ratio showed similar percentages (i.e., 23%)without antecedent precipitation, it was substantially increased up to around 45% when antecedent precipitation existed. In addition, the direct run-off ration without antecedent precipitation was also very high (43.8%), especially when there was extremely heavy rainfall event in the more than five hundreds return period such as typhoon Sanba.

Modified Cubic Convolution Scaler for Multiformat Conversion in a Transcoder (다양한 포맷변환을 지원하는 Transcoder의 개선된 Cubic Convolution Scaler)

  • We derive a modified version of cubic convolution interpolation for the enlargement or reduction of digital images by arbitrary scaling factors. The proposed scaling scheme is used to resize various format pictures in the transcoding system, which transforms the bitstream compressed at a bit rate, such as the HD bitstream, into another bit rate stream. In many applications such as the transcoder, the resolution conversion is very important for changing the image size while the scaled image maintains high quality. We focus on the modification of the scaler kernel according to the relation between formats of the original and the resized image. In the modification, various formats defined in MPEG standards are considered. We show experimental results that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed interpolation method.
