오배자(Rhus javanica) 추출물의 어병세균 Vibrio ichthyoenteri와 Streptococcus iniae에 대한 항균활성 (Antibacterial Activity of Rhus javanica against the Fish Pathogens Vibrio ichthyoenteri and Streptococcus iniae)

  • The antibacterial activities of methanol extracts of 19 commercial herbal medicines were measured against the fish pathogens Vibrio ichthyoenteri and Streptococcus iniae, which cause several fish diseases. Rhus javanica showed the strongest antibacterial activity against V. ichthyoenteri and S. iniae. The methanol extract of R. javanica was extracted further using several organic solvents with different polarities. The extract from the ethyl acetate fraction showed strong activity against both fish pathogens. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the R. javanica extract was $32{\mu}g/mL$ for V. ichthyoenteri and $128{\mu}g/mL$ for S. iniae. Further purification and isolation of the active compound (s) responsible for these activities and further study of the synergistic effect using combinations of antibiotics against pathogenic bacteria are needed.

외부 네트워크와 기업성과 : 미국 바이오산업을 중심으로 (Analysis of Social Network Activity and Firm Performance in the U.S Biotechnology Industry)

  • 본 연구는 바이오기업의 외부 네트워크 전략을 공동연구 협력, 제조/마케팅/판매 제휴, 자금지원, M&A 등 4가지로 구분하고, 이와 같은 바이오기업의 외부네트워크 전략이 기업의 성과에 미친 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 미국 바이오기업 패널자료를 사용하여 분석한다. 첫째, 기술개발 이후의 제조/판매/마케팅 제휴는 단기간에도 모든 기업성과를 증진시키는 역할을 하였다. 둘째, 기술개발단계에서의 연구개발협력 중 제약회사와의 협력은1~2년 이후의 기업성과에, 그리고 타 바이오기업과의 연구개발협력은 2년 이후의 기업성과에 정의효과를 가져왔다. 셋째, 가장 장기적이며 기초연구에 주목적을 두고 있는 공공기관 및 대학과의 공동연구 협력은 단기적인 기업성과에 부정적으로 작용하여 향후 2~3년이 아닌 보다 장기적인 관점에서 재조명되어야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 실증분석결과는 국내 바이오산업의 발전을 위하여 외부 네트워크전략을 통하여 기술혁신을 경주하는 노력이 필요하며, 또한 주로 기초기술에 집중된 공공기관과 대학과의 공동연구를 지원하는 정책적 고려가 필요함을 시사한다.

  • Sensory analysis of milk and milk products is widely appreciated, and there is a demand for experts with these skills in the dairy industry. To this end, it is important to understand the basic principles of sensory analysis and impart training to facilitate the development of dairy food industry. This paper addresses the ISO 22935/IDF 99 guidelines on the methodology of sensory analysis of milk and milk products, training procedures and monitoring of selected assessors, and criteria for sampling and preparation of dairy samples and their assessment.

  • Korea dairy industry is placed on the very critical situation with the progression of free trade marketing system internationally. The sterilized milk or pasteurized extended shelf life milk can be considered as the international trade dairy products. Now all dairy foods would be selling in international market. To keep and improve our dairy foods market, the Korea dairy system improvement committee was inaugurated in 1995. This committee has done so many works to improve or dairy system such as the settlement of raw milk supply and demand, centralization of raw milk collection, ideal raw milk price system and dairy foods marketing structure, etc.

  • Genome resequencing by next-generation sequencing technology can reveal numerous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within a closely-related cultivar group, which would enable the development of sufficient SNP markers for mapping and the identification of useful genes present in the cultivar group. We analyzed genome sequence data from 13 Korean japonica rice varieties and discovered 740,566 SNPs. The SNPs were distributed at 100-kbp intervals throughout the rice genome, although the SNP density was uneven among the chromosomes. Of the 740,566 SNPs, 1,014 SNP sites were selected on the basis of polymorphism information content (PIC) value higher than 0.4 per 200-kbp interval, and 506 of these SNPs were converted to Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR (KASP) markers. The 506 KASP markers were tested for genotyping with the 13 sequenced Korean japonica rice varieties, and polymorphisms were detected in 400 KASP markers (79.1%) which would be suitable for genetic analysis and molecular breeding. Additionally, a genetic map comprising 205 KASP markers was successfully constructed with 188 $F_2$ progenies derived from a cross between the varieties, Junam and Nampyeong. In a phylogenetic analysis with 81 KASP markers, 13 Korean japonica varieties showed close genetic relationships and were divided into three groups. More KASP markers are being developed and these markers will be utilized in gene mapping, quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis, marker-assisted selection and other strategies relevant to crop improvement.

  • Substituted imidazolidin-2-ones deduced as potential inhibitors of IleRS by docking simulations were synthesized from an aziridine-2-carboxaldehyde. Reductive amination of an aziridine-2-carboxaldehyde with dipeptides for the substituents at N1 and followed by aziridine-ring expansion with triphosgene afforded 4-chloromethylimidazolidin-2-ones whose chloride were further manipulated towards phenylurea, pyrimidin-2-yl-urea or benzenesulfonamide at C4.

한국 유가공업의 발전과 전망 - 치즈 (Development of Korean Dairy Industry - Cheese)

  • In 1967, cheese was first produced with small scale of mozzarella cheese in Korea. The processed cheese market was highly grown after putting on the market of sliced cheese in the late 1980's, and the various products that complied with well-being trends such as organic and high functional cheese have been produced in the 2000's. The natural cheese opens up a new domestic market after producing camembert and brie cheese in the end of 2004. At present. the cheese market is expanded with differentiated products such as high value added and high functional cheese. The size of domestic cheese market remains about 200 billion won, but it is expected to go over a trillion won on account of growing preference of natural cheese with well-being trends. To promote domestic cheese industry, differentiation policy of raw milk price for cheese, diversification of cheese products, financial support to farm-made cheese industry and automation and processing development to improve productivity should be taken into account in the future in Korea.

세계 낙농산업 동향: III. 2010년 현황을 중심으로 (Global Dairy Industry and Current Situation: III. 2010 World Dairy Report)

  • During the 2009 global economic downturn, the dairy industry was also affected. Global milk production had gradually decreased, and the dairy industry was failing. However, in 2010, China's sudden consumption increase of dairy products, the price of dairy products recovered due to the great demand in China. The Asian continent as a whole played a significant role in maintaining the health of the global dairy industry, by preventing its total collapse. Currently, the price of all dairy products, except that of whole milk powder, has increased. The International Dairy Federation (IDF) expects that milk production will grow by 2% annually over the next 10 years, owing to Asia's high demand for all kinds of dairy products.

용매별 정향 추출물의 항산화효과 (Antioxidant Activities of Clove by Extraction Solvent)

  • 본 연구는 정향추출물(물, 메탄올 및 에테르)의 항산화 효과를 리놀레인산 기질 및 리놀레인산 에멀젼기질에서 비교, 검토하였다. 물, 메탄올 및 에테르용매에 따른 정향의 총페놀 함량은 23.1, 42.8, 34.9%로 메탄올>에테르>물 추출물 순이었다. Eugenol 함량은 메탄올 추출물의 경우 6.1%이었고 에테르 추출물 8.1%이었으며 물 추출물에서는 검출되지 않았다. 정향 추출물의 DPPH 소거효과는 물 추출물 경우 36.1%, 메탄을 추출물의 경우 30.9%, 에테르 추출물의 경우 29.7%로 나타났다. 리놀레인산 기질에서의 항산화 효과는 BHT>에테르 추출물> $\alpha$-tocopherol>메탄올 추출물>물 추출물의 순이었다. 리놀레인산 에멀젼 시스템에서의 항산화 효과는 BHT>물 추출물>메탄올 추출물>에테르 추출물> $\alpha$-tocopherol의 순이었다.
