  • Since vision-based surveillance system uses a conventional camera which has a narrow field of view, it is difficult to apply it into the environment whose the ceiling is low and the monitoring area is wide. To overcome this problem, the method of increasing the number of camera causes the increase of the cost and the difficulties of camera set-up For these problems, we propose a new surveillance system based on multiple fisheye cameras which have 180 degree field of view. The proposed method handles occlusions using the homography relation between the multiple fisheye cameras. In the experiment, four fisheye cameras were set up within the area of $17{\times}14m$ at height of 2.5 m and five people wandered and crossed with one another within this area. The detection rates of the proposed system was 83.0% while that of a single camera was 46.1%.

  • With the pace of rapid innovation in technology of IoT (Internet of Things) and smart devices, biometric technology becomes one of the most progressive industries. Recent trends in biometrics show most are focused on embedding biometric sensors in mobile devices for user authentication. Multifactor biometrics such as fingerprint, retina, voice, etc. are considering as identification system to provide users with services more secured and convenient. Here we, therefore, demonstrate some major technologies and market trends of mobile biometric technology with its concerns and issues.

  • This paper presents a fingerprint image registration method. In the fingerprint system, the insufficiency of mutual information between a template and a query fingerprint is one of major factors to deteriorate recognition performance. To overcome this problem, we need to register multiple impressions and integrate their information. Our method matches the ridges from multiple impressions recursively and then registers the impressions to minimize the registration error calculated from the Distance map. Our method use regularized TPS model as the transformation model to compensate for the plastic deformation. We compare our method with 3 prior arts (ICP, Distance Map, Ross's method). Our registration error and its' variance is the smallest and also the average registration error is below 3 pixels.

  • Recent studies show that fingerprint recognition technology is confronted with spoofing of artificial fingers. In order to overcome this problem, the fingerprint recognition system needs to distinguish a fake finger from a live finger. This paper examines existing software-based approaches for fingerprint liveness detection through experiments. Implemented and tested in this paper are the approaches based on deformation, wavelet, and perspiration. These approaches will be analyzed and compared based on experimental results.

  • Recent rapid creation of data has resulted in the development of big data technologies. In particular, with the development of wearable devices that measure biological signals, a variety of biological signals are growing exponentially. Thus, storage technologies are required to identify and systematically store characteristics of exponential increase in biological signals. In this paper, we will study the storage design that stores the biometrics by identifying the characteristics of the biometrics and the techniques to collect the biometrics.

  • Biometrics consist of technologies that support automatic identification or verification of identity based on behavioral or physical traits. Biometrics can authenticate identities since they measure unique individual characteristics including fingerprints, hand geometry, iris, hand vascular patterns and facial characteristics. we review the state of the hand vascular patterns identification technology and compare other competitive authentication technologies such as cryptography, electronic signature and PKI.

  • The need to protect a main information and control a personal access using Biometrics in the intelligent building system is extended with growing the information and communication technologies in recent years. The fingerprint recognition technology is one of the biometrics methods available that has been widely used in various applications. But the present architecture of fingerprint recognition system has many of the problems because of centralized control network architecture. But we can solve the problems with distributed control network architecture. In this paper, the fingerprint recognition system uses the merit of the LonWorks. it is able to easily modularize the system and make up for the weak points in the typical fingerprint recognition system.

  • As organizations search fur more secure authentication methods (Dr user access, e-commerce, and other security applications, biometrics is gaining increasing attention. Biometrics offers greater security and convenience than traditional methods of personal recognition. In some applications, biometrics can replace or supplement the existing technology. In others, it is the only viable approach. Several biometric methods of identification, including fingerprint hand geometry, facial, ear, iris, eye, signature and handwriting have been explored and compared in this paper. They all are well suited for the specific application to their domain. This paper briefly identifies and categorizes them in particular domain well suited for their application. Some methods are less intrusive than others.
