  • Changeable biometrics identify a person using transformed biometric data instead of original biometric data in order to enhance privacy and security in biometrics when biometric data is compromised. In this paper, a novel scheme which generates changeable face templates for statistical appearance-based face recognition is proposed. Two different original face feature vectors are extracted from two different appearance-based approaches, respectively, each original feature vector is normalized, and its elements are re-ordered. Finally a changeable face template is generated by weighted addition between two normalized and scrambled feature vectors. Since the two feature vectors are combined into one by a two to one mapping, the original two feature vectors are not easily recovered from the changeable face template even if the combining rule is known. Also, when we need to make new changeable face template for a person, we change the re-ordering rule for the person and make a new feature vector for the person. Therefore, the security and privacy in biometric system can be enhanced by using the proposed changeable face templates. In our experiments, we analyze the proposed method with respect to performance and security using an AR-face database.

  • Airports and civil aviation authorities have recently utilized and expanded the use of biometric technologies to respond proactively against the rapid changes in aviation terrorism due to scientific development. The Global Security Plan (GASeP) developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is regarded as precondition for sustainable development of the global air transport industry. Thus GASeP has sought to improve aviation security system using biometic technologies. The purpose of this paper is to realize the equivalent access of aviation security system throughout the world with biometric technologies. First, this paper reviewed the current biometric-security system operated by the EU, USA and international society. Second, legal and institutional processes regarding personal biometric information were analyzed to suggest political implications. This paper concluded that ICAO should propose a global standardization and prepare guideline materials among its 193 member states to prevent aviation security breaches and to share related information on a real-time basis because time is required to utilize biometric technology to improve aviation safety and to develop global air transport.

  • Cancelable biometrics is a robust and secure biometric recognition method using revocable biometric template in order to prevent possible compromisation of the original biometric data. In this paper, we present a new cancelable bits extraction method for the facial data. We use our previous cancelable feature template for the bits extraction. The adopted cancelable template is generated from two different original face feature vectors extracted from two different appearance-based approaches. Each element of feature vectors is re-ordered, and the scrambled features are added. With the added feature, biometric bits string is extracted using helper data based method. In this technique, helper data is generated using statistical property of the added feature vector, which can be easily replaced with straightforward revocation. Because, the helper data only utilizes partial information of the added feature, our proposed method is a more secure method than our previous one. The proposed method utilizes the helper data to reduce feature variance within the same individual and increase the distinctiveness of bit strings of different individuals for good recognition performance. For a security evaluation of our proposed method, a scenario in which the system is compromised by an adversary is also considered. In our experiments, we analyze the proposed method with respect to performance and security using the extended YALEB face database

  • The Internet of Things plays a role as an important element technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution. This study is currently developing intelligent cars with IT technology, and is at a time when the development of intelligent cars is active and network data communication is possible. However, security solutions are needed as security is still at a weak stage, which can be threatened by intrusions into the network from outside. In this paper, in order to improve security of intelligent cars without causing security problems, we will apply blockchain technology, propose biometric authentication techniques using users' biometric information, and continue to study them in the future.

  • Enterprise which has a core technology or organization which manages a core information will be walking into a critical situation like a ruins when organization's confidential information is outflowed. In the past confidential information that was leaked to the off-line, recently the outflow made possible through a variety of equipment at any time via the network based on the ubiquitous communication environment. In this paper, we propose to authenticate and block all packets transmitted via the network at real-time in order to prevent confidentials outflow. Especially in or der to differentiate between users who attempt to disclose confidentials, we propose to insert user's biometric informaion transparently at per-packet basis, and also verify a performance by simulation.

  • Recently, biometric technology has begun to be used as a fusion of IT technology and financial system. Using this biometric technology, FIDO(Fast Identity Online) technology, Samsung and Apple started Samsung Pay and Apple Pay service. FIDO authentication technology replaces existing authentication methods such as passwords. Among the biometric technologies, fingerprint recognition technology is attracting attention because it can minimize the device and user rejection at a relatively low price. However, fingerprint information has a limited number of users and it can not be reused if fingerprint information is leaked by an external attacker. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to authenticate a user using EEG signal which is one of biometrics technologies. W propose a method to use EEG signal measurement value in FIDO system by using convenience channel by using short channel EEG device. And propose a method to utilize EEG signal when the user recognizes a specific entity by measuring the EEG signal before and after recognizing a specific entity.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-modal biometric system based on face, iris and fingerprint recognition system. To effectively aggregate two systems, we use statistical distribution models based on matching values for genuine and impostor, respectively. And then, We performed reveal fusion algorithms including weighted summation, Support Vector Machine(SVM), Fisher discriminant analysis, Bayesian classifier. From the various experiments, we found that the performance of multi-modal biometric system was influenced with the normalization methods and classifiers.

  • In this paper, we analyze the characteristics and ATM applications for fingerprint, iris, vein recognition technology that can be applied to the ATM to reinforce security. Describe the important requirements to be considered when introducing a biometric authentication in the ATM, and were compared to each biometric authentication scheme based on these requirements. Fingerprint authentication has limitations in accuracy, iris recognition is a big weakness in user convenience, whereas vein recognition has the advantage of being hygienic, yet excellent accuracy and secrecy. Vein authentication approach is expected to be expanded to apply to ATM due to the many advantages.

  • Recently, IoT and Big Data dealing with voluminous and complex sensitive information is one of the key issues in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. There have been a lot of studies to store the collected and processed sensitive information safely in storage data. Especially biometric information, if it is leaked and becomes identity theft, is hard to be corrected and results in serious event. To fix the problem, methods such as FIDO or KFTC have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a modified method of TTAK.KO-12.0098 according to the environment of this paper and propose a method of safely storing the generated disposable template in a block chain. We show that our method is better by comparing the existing method and the security analysis.

  • The initial process configuration of biometric information system is performed by the same sequences statically and consistently without changing after the system is running. However, this static process configuration appears an inefficient performance to the applications of the mobile biometric information system in the mobile computing environment. This work proposes the dynamic process design and execution method as a way to overcome these inefficient processes.
