일부 치위생 및 간호 전공 대학생들의 생명의료윤리 특성과 의식 (The characteristics and consciousness of biomedical ethics in dental hygiene and nursing students)

  • This study set out to examine the characteristics and consciousness of biomedical ethics among dental hygiene and nursing students and provide basic data for the education of biomedical ethics in the department of dental hygiene. The subjects include 158 and 128 students in the dental hygiene and nursing departments, respectively, at a university in Gyeongnam. Collected data was analyzed with the SPSS 12.0 program. 1. The analysis results show that the dental hygiene and nursing students scored mean 2.72 and 2.65 points in biomedical ethics consciousness, respectively, with statistical significance(p<.000). 2. In the subareas of biomedical ethics, the two groups showed the highest and lowest level of consciousness in organ transplant and euthanasia, respectively. 3. The two groups had differences in characteristics related to biomedical ethics by the major such as ethical values(p<.05), experiences with biomedical ethics education(p<.01), time of biomedical ethics education(p<.001), sources of information and knowledge about biomedical ethics(p<.01), experiences with conflicts in biomedical ethics(p<.000), and willingness to participate in education(p<.05). 4. The nursing students recorded higher biomedical ethics consciousness than the dental hygiene students with no statistically significant differences between them. Biomedical ethics consciousness had positive correlations with ethical values(r=.122) and experiences with biomedical ethics education(r=.356). Based on these findings, the study proposed the development of educational content for biomedical ethics consciousness and research on its effectiveness to help dental hygiene students form desirable biomedical ethics consciousness.

  • Objectives: This study sought to provide basic data for the establishment of a desirable sense of ethics in medical service by analyzing the consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing students. Methods: Subjects were nursing students selected from four-year and three-year nursing colleges (n=355 and 360, respectively) in D city and G buk-Do region. The Data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The average point of the consciousness of biomedical ethics was 2.99. As result of analyzing general and specific aspects of the consciousness of biomedical ethics, statistically significant differences were found in age, religion, participation in religious activity, kinds of student group activity in subjects, ethical values, experience of hearing for biomedical ethics, quantity and quality of biomedical ethics in the current curriculum, the experience of conflict for biomedical ethical problem in subjects. The predicting variables that influence the consciousness of biomedical ethics, ethical values, quantity and quality of biomedical ethics in the current curriculum, religion, age, and experience of hearing for biomedical ethics. Conclusions: An arbitration program that could promote either changeable or controllable ethical values must be considered with attention to the significant variables that can promote the consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing students.

간호대학생의 임상실습, 윤리적 가치관 및 생명의료윤리교육에 따른 간호사 윤리강령인식, 윤리강령 적용정도 및 생명의료윤리의식의 차이 (The Differences of Nurses' Perception of the Code of Ethics, Degree of Application of Nursing Ethics and Biomedical Ethical Consciousness according to Nursing Students' Clinical Practice Experience, Ethical Values and Biomedical Ethics Education)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the differences of the Code of Ethics, level of application of the Code of Ethics and consciousness of biomedical ethics of nurses about clinical practice experience, ethical values and biomedical ethics education experience of nursing students. Methods: A descriptive research design, t-test and one-way ANOVA were used. The data were collected 1st June to 31st August 2016 from two large cities. The participants were 246 nursing students with a mean age of 22.57 years. Among them, 209 (84.6%) were female, 94 (38.2%) had clinical practice experience, 155 (63.0%) listed their ethical value as different depending on the situation, and 127 (51.6%) had biomedical ethics education experience. Results: The scores were: awareness of the Code of Ethics of Nurses $4.29{\pm}0.60$; application of the Code of Ethics of Nurses $4.24{\pm}0.6$4; and consciousness of biomedical ethics $2.91{\pm}0.19$. There were significant differences in application of the Code of Ethics of Nurses (t=-1.97, p=.050); consciousness of biomedical ethics (t=-2.25, p=.025) related to clinical practice experience; and consciousness of biomedical ethics related to biomedical education experience (t=2.67, p=.007). Conclusion: Clinical practice and biomedical ethics education experience contributed to enhance the level of application of the Code of Ethics of Nurses and consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing students.

  • Purpose: This study identifies the relationships between the perception of nursing ethics and biomedical ethics in Korean nursing students. Methods: A total of 311 participants with a mean of 20.93 years were recruited using a convenient sampling method. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire from May 2 to May 16, 2016. Results: Biomedical ethics were significantly different according to education of ethics. Nursing ethics among nursing students were significantly different according to gender and a view of the occupation. Positive correlations were found between the perception of biomedical ethics and nursing ethics. The perception of biomedical ethics was a significant predictor of nursing ethics with an explanatory power of 16.0% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings of this study may provide a basic data to understand the biomedical ethics among Korean nursing students.

간호대학 신입생의 생명의료윤리 의식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Consciousness of Biomedical Ethics of Freshmen Nursing Students)

  • This study sought to provide basic for the establishment of desirable sense of ethics values by analyzing the consciousness of biomedical ethics of freshmen nursing students. The subjects of the study were 420 freshmen nursing students. The period of data collection was from April 1 to 6, 2012 and collected data were analyzed on SPSS/PC 19.0 program. The results is followed; First, the mean score of the consciousness of biomedical ethics was $2.39{\pm}0.25$. While the mostly high ranked category of biomedical ethics was the right to life of newborn($2.76{\pm}0.39$), the category with the lowest score was the artificial abortion($2.13{\pm}0.39$). Second, with respect to the characteristics of participants there were statistically significant difference in total score according to age, religion, and participation in religious activity, experience of hearing for biomedical ethics, sources of information for biomedical ethics, ethical values for biomedical ethics, and in intention to attend biomedical ethics in subjects. As a result, an arbitration program that could promote either changeable or controllable ethical values must be considered with attention to the significant variables that can promote the consciousness of biomedical ethics of freshmen nursing students.

간호대학 1학년 학생을 위한 생명의료윤리 교육 프로그램의 효과 (The Effect of Biomedical Ethics Education Program for Nursing Students Freshman)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to exam the effect of a biomedical ethics education program on the consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition in nursing students. Method: A quasi-experimental research design and repeated measured ANOVA were used. The participants were divided into an experimental group (n=148) and a control group (n=169). Each group underwent freshman university nursing training in two major cities. The mean age was 21.3 years and the time of providing the biomedical ethics education program was 15 hours for 15 weeks. The experimental group was provided biomedical ethics education during the semester; the control group was not provided any biomedical ethics education. Results: The consciousness of biomedical ethics was increased significantly in the experimental group (t=-4.724, p<.001). Moral sensitivity was increased significantly in the experimental group (t=-2.021, p<.004). Critical thinking disposition was increased significantly in the experimental group (t=-5.775, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of the study show that providing biomedical ethics education to nursing students is an effective method to increase the consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition.

  • Purpose. This study purposed to examine consciousness of biomedical ethics and nursing professional values in nursing students. In addition, by identifying the relationship between consciousness of biomedical ethics and their nursing professional values. Methods. We collected data from 184 nursing students using a structured questionnaire, which were constructed to include Consciousness of biomedical ethics and Nursing professional values. The collected data was analyzed descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients with SPSS 20.0 Results. Average score for consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students was $2.92{\pm}.16$ and that of nursing professional values was $3.61{\pm}.34$. Among the sub-areas of consciousness of biomedical ethics, right to life of newborn was highest. In addition, among the sub-area of nursing professional values, The roles of nursing service was highest. A statistically significant positive correlation was observed between consciousness of biomedical ethics and their nursing professional values in nursing students. Conclusion. The results of this study indicate that it is necessary to increase the consciousness of biomedical ethics and to encourage nursing professional values.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data necessary for educating nursing students by establishing a desirable sense of ethics values. Method: In this descriptive research, 101 nursing students and 191 non-nursing students (in other health related fields) from Daejeon City were selected. Tools used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test and step wise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 12.0 version. Results: Average scores for consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students was 2.94, and in non-nursing students, 2.77. When differences in the consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing and non-nursing students were compared, nursing students had significantly higher scores for artificial abortion, artificial insemination, prenatal diagnosis of fetus, right to life of newborn, euthanasia, organ transplantation and human biotechnology, but significantly lower for brain death. Variables which influenced consciousness of biomedical ethics were religion and economic status in the nursing students and intent to attend a class in biomedical ethics, quantity and quality of biomedical ethics in the current curriculum and religion in the non-nursing students. Conclusion: Continuing educational programs need to be considered and attention given to the significant variables that can promote consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students.

간호대학생의 생명의료윤리에 관한 문헌연구 (A review of research on biomedical ethics of nursing college students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 생명의료윤리에 대하여 분석한 국내연구의 동향을 파악하고자 하였다. 문헌조사에 사용된 검색엔진은 KISS, NDSL, RISS이었으며, '간호대학생'과 '생명의료윤리'를 주요어로 선정기준에 적합한 26편의 논문을 분석하였다. 생명의료윤리를 분석한 주요개념은 생명의료윤리의식이었으며, 태아생명권, 인공수정, 장기이식 등의 내용을 포함하였다. 또한 생명의료윤리의식은 대상자의 윤리교육경험(유무), 학년, 임상실습경험, 윤리교육 참여의사에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 생명의료윤리의식과 함께 분석된 주요 개념으로는 연명치료중단, 윤리적 가치관, 비판적사고, 성태도, 간호전문직관, 죽음에 대한 인식 등으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 향후 간호윤리교육 마련을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

간호사의 생명의료윤리에 대한 의식 (The Perception of Biomedical Ethics in Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was to describe the perception of biomedical ethics in 210 nurses working at a hospital in Busan. Method: Data were collected from September 1st to 9th, 2008 using a 4-point Likert scale which was designed by Kwon. Results: The average score of perception of biomedical ethics was $2.88{\pm}0.22$. The highest score, $3.13{\pm}0.35$, was seen in the category of the ethics for right to life, the lowest, $2.49{\pm}0.33$, was seen in the category of ethics of death. There was no significant difference in perception of biomedical ethics according to marital status, participation in religious activity or career length. There was a significant difference in reproductive ethics according to marital status (F=3.559, p= .001) and participation in religious activity (F=3.914, p= .011). There was a significant difference in ethics of death according to career length (F=3.779, p= .011). Statistically significant differences were shown in ethics for right to life according to the ethical values (F=4.421, p= .005) and attendance of a conference for biomedical ethics (F=4.133, p= .018). The difference of the perception of biomedical ethics was significant in ethical values (F=3.859, p= .010) and attendance of a conference for biomedical ethics (F=3.783, p= .025). Conclusion: Continuing educational programs need to be developed and more reinforced education should be offered.
