This study was conducted to determine the amounts of pesticide residues after treatment of criterion dose with 4 pesticides(tolclofos-m, folpet, procymidone, and triflumizole) under cultivated period and to compare the biological half-life of pesticides with 6 kinetic models(first, zero and second order kinetics, power function, elovich and parabolic model) and to establish proposed field tolerance using biological half-lives. Recovery of 4 pesticides form strawberry was ranged from 85.1 to 105.5%. For all of 4 pesticides, dissipation rate was over 73% at 5 days after application. Among 6 kinetic models, first order kinetic model (FO) was best fit to describe the relationship between residual pattern of pesticides and time. Therefore, half-lives were calculated by FO for establishing the field tolerance. These results showed that half-life should be calculated by comparative best fit kinetic model and field tolerance can help to prevent unacceptable agricultural products from marketing. It is good for both consumers and farmers having safe agricultural products and financial benefits, respectively.
BACKGROUND: This study was carried out to establish pre-harvest residue limit of fungicides pyrimethanil and trifloxystrobin in persimmon, based on dissipation and biological half-lives of two fungicides residue. METHODS AND RESULTS: Both pyrimethanil and trifloxystrobin were extracted with acetonitrile, clean-up with $NH_2$ SPE cartridge and residue were analyzed by HPLC/DAD. Limit of Detection was 0.01 mg/kg. Average recovery were $81{\pm}1.62%$, $98{\pm}1.58%$ of pyrimethanil, and $91{\pm}2.94%$, $98{\pm}1.25%$ of trifloxystrobin at fortification levels at 0.1 and 0.5 mg/kg, respectively. CONCLUSION: The biological half-lives of pyrimethanil were 15.6 and 11.6 days at sprayed with recommended and double dosage, respectively. The biological half-lives of trifloxystrobin were 10.4 and 10.3 days at sprayed with recommended and double dosage, respectively. The pre-harvest residue limit of pyrimethanil and trifloxystrobin were recommended as 2.69 and 0.83 mg/kg for 10 days before harvest, respectively.

BACKGROUND: It is hard to control the agricultural products exceeding MRL (maximum residue limit) before forwarding. Therefore, NAQS (National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, South Korea) established PHRL (pre-harvest residue limit) on agricultural products during their cultivation periods. This study was performed to set the PHRLs of peach during cultivation period, and also to estimate biological half-lives for residues of clothianidin and fluquinconazole. METHODS AND RESULTS: Two groups of peach were treated under Korean GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) with application time, single and triple treatments. Sample was collected over 14days (each after 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 days. 8times), and clothianidin and fluquinconazole were analyzed by HPLC/DAD and GC/ECD, respectively. CONCLUSION: The biological half-life of clothianidin in single treatment and triple treatment was 5.2days and 7.0days. That of fluquinconazole was also 3.9days and 4.1days, respectively. The PHRL of peach on 10days before harvest was 1.4 mg/kg in clothianidin and 1.8 mg/kg in fluquinconazole.
The dissipation patterns of amisulbrom in cucumber under a greenhouse condition was investigated to establish biological half-life and pre-harvest residue limit (PHRL). Amisulbrom residue in/on cucumber on the day of application under standard application condition was $0.15mg\;kg^{-1}$ and decreased to $0.06mg\;kg^{-1}$ after 5 days after treatment, so that biological half-life calculated 3.6 day, while initial concentration of amisulbrom twice application 3 days interval under standard application condition was $0.35mg\;kg^{-1}$ and decreased to $0.09mg\;kg^{-1}$ after same period and the biological half-life calculated 2.4 day. PHRL was suggested by prediction curve calculated from the decay constant of amisulbrom at standard rate. For example, $1.83mg\;kg^{-1}$ at 5 days before harvest and $1.03mg\;kg^{-1}$ at 2 days before harvest were suggested.

For practical application, the stability of permeabilized Ochrobactrum anthropi SY509 needs to be increased, as its half-life of enzymatic denitrification is only 90 days. As the cells become viable after permeabilization treatment, this can cause decreased activity in a long-term operation and induce breakage of the immobilization matrix. However, the organic solvent concentration causing zero cell viability was 50%, which is too high for industrial application. Thus, whole-cell immobilization using glutaraldehyde was performed, and 0.1% (v/v) glutaraldehyde was determined as the optimum concentration to maintain activity and increase the half-life. It was also found that 0.1% (v/v) glutaraldehyde reacted with 41.9% of the total amine residues on the surface of the cells during the treatment. As a result, the half-life of the permeabilized cells was increased from 90 to 210 days by glutaraldehyde treatment after permeabilization, and no cell viability was detected.
Since the Industrial Revolution, people have enjoyed an abundant life, owing to the technological innovations of science. However, because of changes in the environment or polution to the environment, it has brought on many chronic diseases. Especially, even though it may be a small amount, if cadmium gets into a human body, because its biological half life is long, it fatally causes a kidney disease and damage to human organisms. It was reported that Metallothioneins(MT), a substance that is closely related with a free radical that comes from environmental pollution and the course of which cadmium, which causes chronic addition in the body, is formed, along with harmful metals, make the toxicity reduce. MT compound led into the body by cadmium indirectly functions as an antioxidation, supplied adequate amount of vitamin E, and suppresses the accumulation of cadmium in heart, liver and blood. Cadmium content found in Korean soil according to the test conducted from 1992 to 1996 was 0.02~0.03mg/kg in cereals, pulses, and potatoes. Free radical scavenger, finding solution for metal substance that comes from environmental pollution from food and natural substances implicates a better future for the study of food science.
The pharmacokinetics of lithium carbonate were investigated in rabbits with folate-induced renal failure. The blood level, the area under the blood concentration curve (AUC) and the biological half·life were increased significantly, and the urinary excretion was decreased significantly compared with those of normal rabbits. Correlation of serum creatinine concentration and AUC, biological half-life, and correlation of creatinine clearance and renal clearance of lithium carbonate have linear relationship respectively. In short, dosage regimen of lithium carbonate is considered to be adjusted in the dose size and the dosing interval by degree of experimental renal failure.
The pharmacokinetics of acetaminophen administered intravenously(20mg/kg) was investigated in the rabbits of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic failure. The blood level, the total AUC and the biological half life of acetaminophen were increased significantly in hepatic failure rabbits compared with those of normal rabbits. The urinary excretion and the overall elimination rate of acetaminophen were decreased significantly in hepatic failure rabbits. There was significant relationship between GOT value and AUC or biological half life of acetaminophen.
Methoxyfenozide and novaluron were sprayed with single and triple treatments separately on peach during cultivation period. Samples were collected over 14 days, 8 times in total (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 days). Methoxyfenozide and novaluron were extracted with acetone and partitioned with dichloromethane, and analyzed by HPLC/DAD. Method Quantitation Limit (MQL) were both 0.005 mg/kg, average recoveries of methoxyfenozide at two fortification levels of 0.05 and 0.25 mg/kg were determined $92.7{\pm}2.9%$ and $102.8{\pm}3.1%$, and novaluron were $98.2{\pm}4.8%$ and $96.7{\pm}9.0%$, respectively. The biological half-life of methoxyfenozide was about 4.41 days at single treatment, and 4.24 days at triple treatments. The biological half-life of novaluron was about 14.81 days at single treatment, and 14.50 days at triple treatments. Dissipation of pesticides on peach was influenced by growth dilution effect. In case of application of methoxyfenozide and novaluron following guidelines on safe use of pesticides, the final residue level was predicted to be lower than Maximum Residue Limit (MRL).

METHODS AND RESULTS: The extracted samples of fenarimol were analyzed by GC-ECD and the flufenoxuron extracted samples were analyzed by HPLC-DAD. Recoveries of fenarimol at two fortification levels of 0.1 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg were $93.69{\pm}6.56$(%) and $94.45{\pm}1.60$ (%), respectively. And recoveries of flufenoxuron at two fortification levels of 0.1 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg were $106.73{\pm}5.90$(%) and $96.37{\pm}6.66$(%), respectively. CONCLUSION(S): The biological half-lives of fenarimol in single treatment and triple treatment were 3.5day and 3.8day. that of Flufenoxuron was also 7.1day and 4.9day, respectively. The PHRL of fenarimol were recommended as 1.5 mg/kg for 10day before harvest and the PHRL of flufenoxuron were recommended as 1.4 mg/kg for 10day before harvest.
