이유자돈에서 건조 유청 대체를 위한 옥수수 전분 가공제품 Bio-starch의 급여 평가 (Evaluation of Bio-starch from Corn Processing to Replace Dried-Whey in Weaned Pigs)

  • 본 연구는 이유자돈 사료 내 유청을 대체하기 위한 bio-starch의 적정 급여 수준을 평가하기 위해 시험을 실시하였다. 21일령 3원 교잡종[(Landrace×Yorkshire)×Duroc] 이유자돈 120두를 공시하였으며, 시험 개시시 체중은 6.01±0.34kg 이었고, phase 1(0~2주) 및 phase 2(3~5주)의 2단계로 사양시험을 실시하였다. 시험 설계는 1) 대조구(Control diet)와 배합사료 중 건조 유청의 일부를 bio-starch로 각각 5, 10 및 15% 대체 급여한 2) BS5, 3) BS10 및 4) BS15 처리구로 4개 처리를 하였으며, 처리당 6반복, 반복당 5두씩 완전임의 배치하였다. 전체 사양 시험기간 동안 일당사료섭취량에 있어서 BS5와 BS15처리구가 대조구와 비교하여 유의적으로 높은 섭취량을 나타내었으며(P<0.05), 체중, 일당증체량 및 사료효율은 유의적인 차이가 없었다(P>0.05). 시험 2주의 건물과 질소 소화율은 bio-starch 10% 급여 수준에서 높은 소화율을 나타내었고(quadratic effect, P=0.03 & P= 0.01; cubic effect, P<0.001 & P=0.01), 종료시의 건물, 질소 및 에너지 소화율은 bio-starch 5% 급여 수준에서 높게 나타났다(P<0.05). 시험 2주의 total protein은 bio-starch 급여 수준이 높아짐에 따라 증가하였으며, 10% 첨가 수준에서 높은 농도를 나타내었다(linear effect, P=0.04; cubic effect, P=0.01). 또한, BUN 농도는 bio- starch 급여 수준이 높아짐에 따라 증가하는 결과를 나타내었다(linear effect, P=0.01). 설사 발생 개체와 지수는 대조구가 bio-starch 처리구에 비해 낮은 경향을 나타내었다. 결론적으로, 본 시험의 결과 이유자돈의 성장단계에 따라 건조 유청을 bio-starch로 5~10% 대체 급여시 생산성에 부정적인 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 소화율이 향상되는 긍정적인 결과를 나타내었다.

  • This study was carried out to elucidate the potential in substitution of SB latex with eco-friendly starch based bio-binder as a coating binder. The part of SB latex in coating color of pre- and top layer was substituted with starch based bio-binder in order to evaluate the characteristics of coating color and coated paper, and printability. The viscosity and water retention of coating color were increased by substitution of SB latex with starch based bio-binder. Roughness of coated paper was increased by substitution with starch based bio-binder, although there was not significant changes in roughness when SB latex is used as a binder in pre-coating color. Brightness and whiteness of coated paper were not affected, but opacity and print mottle were improved by substitution with starch based bio-binder. The interesting result observed was that dry-pick did not affected significantly, and ink set-off was improved by starch based bio-binder. It is expected that starch based bio-binder can be commercialized if the systematic further research works are carried out.

옥수수 전분을 충전제로 첨가한 생분해성 고분자 복합재료의 열적성질 (Thermal Properties of Corn-Starch Filled Biodegradable Polymer Bio-Composites)

  • 본 연구에서는 생분해성 고분자인 polybutylene succinate-adipate (PBS-AD)에 옥수수 전분을 충전제로 첨가한 생분해성 복합재의 열적성질에 대해 고찰하였다. 열분석은 온도에 대한 함수로서 복합재 물질의 화학적 성질과 중량 감소율을 측정할 수 있는 분석적인 방법으로 사용되고 었다. 옥수수 전분의 열안정성은 순수한 생분해성 고분자인 PBS-AD보다 낮았다. 옥수수 전분의 함량이 증가할수록 생분해성 복합재의 열안정성과 열분해 온도는 감소하였고 회분의 함량은 증가하였다. 이것은 생분해성 복합재의 계면에서의 결합려이 옥수수 전분의 혼합비율이 증가할수록 감소하였기 때문이다. 옥수수 전분의 함량이 증가할수록 생분해성 복합재의 유리전이온도(Tg) 와 용융온도(Tm) 에는 큰 변화가 없었다. 옥수수 전분이 혼합된 생분해성 고분자 복합재의 저장 탄성율(E')과 손실 탄성율(E") 값은 PBS-AD보다 높았다. 이 결과는 옥수수 전분의 첨가로 인하여 생분해성 복합재의 강성이 증가하였기 때문이다. 고온에서 생분해성 고분자 복합재의 감소된 저장 탄성율 값은 온도가 증가할수록 고분자 사슬의 운동성이 증가하기 때문이다. 위의 결과들로부터, 옥수수 전분이 생분해성 고분자 복합재를 제조하는데 충전제로서 사용이 가능하다고 예상할 수 있었으며 옥수수 선분과 생분해성 고분자의 계면에서의 결합력을 향상시키기 위하여 결합제의 사용이 요구된다.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Acid Thinned and High Pressure Treated Waxy Rice Starch for Yugwa (Korean Rice Snack) Production

  • The acid modification of waxy rice starch was conducted to improve the yugwa production process. The intrinsic viscosity, paste viscosity, and differential scanning calorimetry characteristics of acid modified starch were measured, and bandaegi and yugwa prepared from acid modified starch were evaluated. The intrinsic viscosities of acid thinned starches were 1.48, 1.27, 1.15, and 0.91 mL/g after reaction times of 1, 2, 3, and 4 hr, respectively. The gelatinization enthalpy was reduced from 16.3 J/g in native starch to 15.8, 15.3, 14.7, and 14.5 J/g in acid thinned starches as the time of acid thinning increased. The peak viscosity and final viscosity decreased with increasing the time of acid thinning, but the pasting temperature was slightly increased in acid thinned starches. The hardness of bandaegi from acid thinned starches under high pressure greatly decreased relative to the control, typical yugwa. Yugwa from acid thinned starch under high pressure maintained a homogeneous structure containing tiny and uniform cells similar to that of native waxy rice starch used for typical yugwa. Acid thinning under high pressure appears to be a good alternative to the existing steeping process for better yugwa quality.

Effects of applying cellulase and starch on the fermentation characteristics and microbial communities of Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) silage

  • This study investigated the effects of applying cellulase and starch on the fermentation characteristics and microbial communities of Napier grass silage after ensiling for 30 d. Three groups were studied: No additives (control); added cellulase (Group 1); and added cellulase and starch (Group 2). The results showed that the addition of cellulase and starch decreased the crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and pH significantly (p < 0.05) and increased water-soluble carbohydrate (WSC) content (p < 0.05). The addition of additives in two treated groups exerted a positive effect on the lactic acid (LA) content, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) population, and lactic acid / acetic acid (LA/AA) ratio, even the changes were not significant (p > 0.05). Calculation of Flieg's scores indicated that cellulase application increased silage quality to some extent, while the application of cellulase and starch together significantly improved fermentation (p < 0.05). Compared with the control, both additive groups showed increased microbial diversity after ensiling with an abundance of favorable bacteria including Firmicutes and Weissella, and the bacteria including Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Acinetobacter increased as well. For alpha diversity analysis, the combined application of cellulase and starch in Group 2 gave significant increases in all indices (p < 0.05). The study demonstrated that the application of cellulase and starch can increase the quality of Napier grass preserved as silage.

저비용 응집제를 이용한 미세조류 응집 효율 비교 (A Comparative Study on Microalgae Recovery Rates in Response to Different Low Cost Bio-flocculant Applications)

  • In this study, low cost bio-flocculants, chitosan, cationic starch and Mg-sericite, were used as a flocculant to harvest freshwater microalgae, Chlorella vulgaris. Chitosan, cationic starch and Mg-sericite separated successfully >98% of C. vulgaris at following optimal parameters: 90 mg/L chitosan at pH 6-7, 70 mg/L cationic starch at pH 9-10 and 50 mg/L Mg-sericite at pH 4-5. A relatively high correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9993 for chitosan, 0.9971 for catonic starch and 0.9924 for Mg-sericite was obtained. The investigated flocculants amount increased linearly with increasing the microalgae amount. The biopolymer, Mg-sericite, was more effective than that of other investigated flocculants. These results indicated that a bio-flocculants, chitosan, cationic starch and Mg-sericite, could prove to be an effective flocculant for economical production of microalgae biomass. In addition, Mg-sericite was more effective comparing to the other investigated flocculants.

국내 재배 케나프 섬유를 이용한 바이오복합재의 제조와 물리적 특성 (Preparation and Physical Properties of Bio-Composites Using Kenaf Cultivated in Korea)

  • This study examines the preparation and characterization of Kenaf/Starch bio-composites used as filler and a matrix. Kenaf was cultivated in Chung-ju in Korea, and the Kenaf/Starch bio-composites were prepared under various conditions of kenaf fiber length (1-5 centimeters); the content of Kenaf fiber was 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, and the number of composite layers (one-four). Depending on the formation conditions of Kenaf/Starch composites, the physical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, and the young modulus of the Kenaf/Starch composites were measured. In addition, we measured the SEM cross-section images in order to investigate the interfacial adhesion properties of fractured surfaces. As a result, the tensile strength and elongation of the Kenaf/Starch composites were highest in the molding conditions of a hot press at $120^{\circ}C$, 3000PSI of pressure, and for 30 minute periods. The result of measuring the physical properties of the composites manufactured by varying the content of Kenaf fiber when the content of Kenaf fiber was 30% as well the physical properties of the Kenaf/Starch composite was found desirable. It was found that the physical properties improved with more overlapped layers in the composites manufactured by varying the number of overlapped layers. Through the measuring of the SEM cross-section images, we found that the interfacial adhesion state between the filler and matrix of Kenaf/Starch composite greatly affects the physical properties.

Effects of a Compatibilizer on the Tensile Properties of Low-Density Polyethylene/Modified Starch Blends

  • In this study, thermoplastic starch (TPS), cross-linked starch (CS), and cross-linked starch modified with glycerol (CTPS) were prepared, and the mechanical properties of the compatibilized low-density polyethylene (LDPE) blends (LDPE/TPS, LDPE/CS, and LDPE/CTPS) were investigated and compared with those of uncompatibilized LDPE/TPS, LDPE/CS, and LDPE/CTPS blends. Maleic-anhydride-grafted polyethylene was used as the compatibilizer. The enhanced tensile strength and elongation at break for the compatibilized LDPE/modified starch blends are a result of the improved compatibility between LDPE and the modified starch, which was confirmed by torque measurements and scanning electron microscopy.

  • Part of SB latex in pre-coating color was substituted with newly developed starch-based bio-binder in order to investigate the effect of starch-based bio-binder in pre-coating color on the properties of coating color and coated paper. Smoothness and gloss of coated paper were decreased with the increase of bio-binder substitution ratio. Brightness and whiteness did not show the significant changes, but stiffness was improved with bio-binder. Ink set-off, dry-pick and wet pick were decreased with the increase of bio-binder substitution ratio. In general, when all SB latex is substituted with bio-binder, ink set-off, dry- and wet-pick were deteriorated. However, it was found that if the bio-binder substitution ratio is controlled below 50%, similar qualities with coated paper manufactured by the use of SB latex binder can be obtained.

Maltogenic amylase를 이용한 고구마 전분겔의 텍스쳐 특성 변화 (Changes of the Textural Properties of the Sweet Potato Starch Gels using Maltogenic Amylase)

  • 효소를 이용하여 전분을 수식하여 묵의 텍스쳐 특성을 개선하고 아울러 기능성 탄수화물을 첨가시켜 불성을 개선하고 건강식품화하고자 하였다. 전분의 분자수식을 위하여 maltogenic amylase를 이용하였으며 고구마 전분의 구조를 modification시켜 묵을 제조하고 또한 분지 글루코올리고당과 도토리 전분을 혼합하여 10% 전분겔을 제조한 후 Instron을 사용한 기계적 검사와 관능검사를 병행하여 텍스쳐 특성을 시험하였다. 고구마 전분에 maltogenic amylase를 0.02% 첨가하였을 때 텍스쳐 개선효과가 가장 켰으며 묵의 품질이 우수하였다. 이는 효소에 의해 긴 아밀로오스와 아밀로펙틴이 묵이 형성될 수 있는 길이로 잘라졌기 때문으로 생각된다. Bacillus licheniformis maltogenic amylase(BLMA)를 이용하여 제조한 분지글루코올리고당을 첨가한 경우, 12.5%를 첨가하였을 때 텍스쳐 특성이 가장 향상되었다. 도토리 전분을 혼합하여 전분겔을 제조한 경우에는 50%를 혼합하였을 때 가장 텍스쳐 특성이 향상되었고 100% 도토리만으로 제조한 전분겔보다 수응력이 우수하였다.
