다족 로봇을 위한 효과적인 보행 패턴 분석 (Analysis on Effective Walking Pattern for Multi-Legged Robots)

  • 다족로봇이 보행하기 위해서는 기본적으로 어떤 보행 패턴의 설정이 필요하다. 이러한 관점에서 어떤 보행 패턴이 효과적인 다족 보행을 가능하게 할 것인지를 분석하기 위하여 본 논문은 네 개의 다리를 이용하는 4족 보행 로봇 모델을 고려하며, 보행 순간마다 지지판에 의해 형성되는 지시다각형의 중심경로를 기반으로 보행 밸런스를 분석한다. 또한, 다족 로봇의 보행 밸런스를 평가하기 위한 성능지수를 제안한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여, 4족 로봇의 보행에서 지지다각형의 중심 경로와 보행 밸런스는 사용된 보행 패턴에 따라 다르다는 사실을 보인다. 결과적으로, 보행 밸런스 지수와 생체모방 관점으로부터 4족 로봇의 보행을 위하여 유용한 보행 패턴을 제시한다.

Immune-Enhancing Effects of Lactobacillus plantarum 200655 Isolated from Korean Kimchi in a Cyclophosphamide-Induced Immunocompromised Mouse Model

  • In this study, we evaluated the immune-enhancing activity of kimchi-derived Lactobacillus plantarum 200655 on immune suppression by cyclophosphamide (CP) in ICR mice. Animals were fed distilled water or 1×109 colony-forming unit/kg B.W. 200655 or Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG as a positive control for 14 days. An in vivo model of immunosuppression was induced using CP 150 and 100 mg/kg B.W. at 7 and 10 days, respectively. Body weight, spleen index, spleen weight, and gene expression were measured to estimate the immune-enhancing effects. The dead 200655 (D-200655) group showed an increased spleen weight compared to the sham control (SC) group. Similarly, the spleen index was significantly higher than that in the CP-treated group. The live 200655 (L-200655) group showed an increased mRNA expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin (IL)-6 in splenocytes. Also, the iNOS and COX-2 mRNA expression was upregulated in the L-200655 group compared to the CP-only (SC) group. The phosphorylation of ERK and MAPK was also upmodulated in the L-200655 group. These results indicate that L. plantarum 200655 ameliorated CP-induced immune suppression, suggesting that L. plantarum 200655 may have the potential to enhance the immune system.

Changes in nocturnal insect communities in forest-dominated landscape relevant to artificial light intensity

  • Background: Artificial light at night has recently been identified as a major factor adversely affecting global insect diversity. Here, we compared the insect diversity in Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve, specifically in the Korea National Arboretum (with no artificial light at night), with that of three nearby urban sites with a gradient of artificial light at night (five locations at each site). We analyzed the effects of the artificial night lighting index, mean annual temperature, and field light intensity (lux) at night on the insect community structure. Results: The urban sites generally exhibited higher species richness and abundance as well as clear indicator species compared with the control site. The size distribution of the collected insects markedly differed between the control and the three urban sites. The abundance of herbivorous and omnivorous insects increased and decreased, respectively, with the increase in light intensity. Species richness of herbivorous and omnivorous insects was likely correlated with the field light intensity at night and artificial night lighting index, respectively. Conclusions: This study demonstrates the association between nighttime environment and marked changes in insect community structure and revealed consequent transition of ecosystem services by changes in trophic group composition.

Qraycam을 이용한 치면세균막 검사의 타당도와 신뢰도 (Validity and Reliability of the Plaque Score Using Qraycam)

  • 본 연구는 노인 64명을 대상으로 Qraycam을 이용한 이미지로 치면세균막 지수를 측정하여 착색 검사와의 신뢰도를 평가하고자 하였으며, 수집된 자료를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 측정 방법, 측정 부위, 지수유형별에 따른 치면세균막 지수의 각 측정값 사이에 높은 일치도가 나타났다. 측정 방법에 따른 전치부 순면의 Quigley-Hein index와 PCR의 평균은 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 측정 부위에 따른 Quigley-Hein index와 PCR의 평균은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.001). Qraycam 검사와 착색 검사의 지수유형별 kappa계수를 확인한 결과 kappa값의 평균은 Quigley-Hein index 0.90, PCR 0.84로 전체적으로 높은 일치도를 보였다. Qraycam과 착색 검사의 전치부 순면 및 전체 치아를 Quigley-Hein index와 PCR로 측정하였을 때, 변수 간 ICC는 1에 가까운 결과를 보였다. 본 연구 결과 측정방법, 측정 부위, 지수유형별에 따른 치면세균막 지수의 일치도 평가에서 모든 측정값의 일치도가 높게 나타났다. 따라서 Qraycam은 치면세균막 검사 시 screening 도구로서 충분한 신뢰도가 있음을 확인하였다.

Bio-Soda Pulping of Rice Straw with Pleurotus cornucopiae under Atmospheric Pressure

  • This study was carried out to develop the bio-chemical pulping method to enhance the energy saving and decrease the capital cost through the soda pulping under atmospheric pressure ($100^{\circ}C$). Nonwood substrates, rice straw, were pretreated by white-rot fungi, Pleurotus cornucopiae. Several basic pieces of data that can be applied in soda pulping were acquired. The results of this study were as follows. Under the conditions without any nutrients or with glucose, N and glucose + N, the weight losses of rice straws inoculated by Pleurotus cornucopiae were 12.1∼32.6 %, 12.0∼26.3 %, 13.0∼25.4 % and 15.3∼24.7 % for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 days incubation periods respectively. The more the fungal incubation was extended, the more the weight losses were gained. The yield of untreated rice straw was 54.8 % after pulping. When any nutrients was not added or glucose, N and glucose + N were added for the pretreatment, the total yields were ranged to 57.3∼42.9 %, 51.0∼43.3 %, 51.7∼43.9 % and 52.1∼46.1 % for 5 different incubation periods respectively. The yields were gradually decreased based on the extending of the incubation periods. The physical properties of the rice straw soda pulp without fungal treatment, the density, breaking length, burst index, tear index and folding endurance were 0.24g/㎤, 2.32 Km, 0.91 kPaㆍ$m^2$/g, 46.7 mNㆍ$m^2$/g and 21 times, respectively. In the case of pretreatment without any nutrients or with glucose, N and glucose + N as nutrients, the density was 0.24g/㎤, the breaking length was 3.30∼6.46 Km, the burst index was 1.36∼3.01 kPaㆍ$m^2$/g, the tear index was 33.0∼57.0 mNㆍ$m^2$/g and the folding endurance was 14∼381 times at most incubating periods, when pulping was done. The physical properties were increased as the incubation duration was extended. Especially, when N and glucose + N were added, the physical properties showed superior results during each incubation period.

회복탄력성을 고려한 기상 시나리오별 가뭄 용수 공급방안: 나주호를 중심으로 (Water Supply Alternatives for Drought by Weather Scenarios Considering Resilience: Focusing on Naju Reservoir)

  • Resilience has been widely used in various fields including design and operation of infrastructures. The resilient infrastructures not only reduce the damage scale of various disasters but also reduce the time and cost required for restoration. However, resilience rarely applied to promote efficient management of agricultural infrastructures. Recently, drought is an aggravating disaster by climate change and need countermeasures. Therefore, we tried to demonstrate evaluating measures in case of drought under consideration of resilience. This study applied the robustness-cost index (RCI) to evaluate alternative solution of the supply problem of a large agricultural reservoir under drought conditions. Four structural alternatives were selected to estimate the robustness index (RI) and the cost index (CI) to obtain the RCI values. Structural alternatives are classified into temporary measures and permanent measures. Temporary measures include the development of a tube wells and the installation of the portable pump, while the permanent measures include the installation of a pumping stations and the pumping water to the reservoir (Yeongsan River-Naju reservoir). RCI values were higher in permanent measures than those of temporary measures. Initial storage of the reservoir also affected RCI values of the drought measures. Permanent measures installation and management of early stage of the reservoir storage shortage was identified as the most resilient system.

PLS 회귀분석을 이용한 미래 육상 식생의 생산성 예측 (Predicting Future Terrestrial Vegetation Productivity Using PLS Regression)

  • 식생의 기후 적응력은 지역에 따른 상황 및 공간적 패턴이 다르게 나타나기 때문에 픽셀 스케일의 접근이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 위성영상 기반 식생지수에 대해 PLS 회귀분석을 적용하여 식생의 생산성에 영향을 미치는 기후요인을 평가하고 남한지역의 미래 산림 생산성을 예측하였다. 그 결과, 최고강수분기의 평균기온(Bio8), 최저강수분기의 평균기온(Bio9), 최저강수월의 강수량(Bio14) 변수가 식생의 생산성에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 미래 기후시나리오 자료를 이용하여 예측된 2050년의 식생 생산성은 전체적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 고지대에서 크게 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 결과는 기후에 민감한 지역의 식생에 대한 생산성 모니터링과 미래 기후변화로 인한 산림 탄소 저장량의 변화를 평가하는데 있어 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

브래그 격자 광도파로형 바이오 센서 (Polymeric Waveguide Bio Sensors with Bragg Gratings)

  • 본 논문에서는 집적 광학 광도파로 소자 기술을 적용하여 생화학 물질의 성분을 정밀하게 측정 가능한 광소자로서 폴리머 광도파로와 브래그 격자를 이용하는 구조를 최초로 제안하였다. 유효굴절률법과 전송행렬법을 이용하여 최적의 감도를 가지는 브래그 격자 광도파로를 설계하였으며 코아와 하부 클래딩의 굴절률이 각각 1.540, 1.430인 폴리머를 이용하여 코아 두께가 $3{\mu}m$ 인 구조의 반전립 광도파로를 제작하였다. 코아 층까지 완성된 도파로 위에 레이저 빔 간섭계와 플라즈마 에칭을 이용하여 격자를 형성한 뒤 격자표면에 20 nm 두께의 Au층을 증착하고 칼릭사린(calixarene) 단분자층을 만들어 바이오센서를 제작하였다. 제작된 광센서를 이용하여 PBS(phosphate bufferedsaline) 용액에 함유된 $K^+$의 농도에 따라 브래그 반사픽이 단파장으로 이동하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다.

마늘과 대두배아 발효물로 구성된 복합 식품소재가 고지방 식이를 섭취한 흰쥐의 혈중 지질 성분에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Complex Food Ingredient Composed of Garlic and Fermented Soybean Hypocotyl on the Serum Lipid Profiles of the Rats Fed High-Fat Diet)

  • 마늘과 대두배아의 발효물을 반응시켜 allithiamine의 함량이 기존의 마늘에 비해 6배 증가한 바이오갈릭을 제조하였다. 바이오갈릭이 고지방 식이에 의해 유발되는 과체중 및 고지혈증에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 고지방에 1%의 바이오 갈릭이 포함된 식이를 제조하고 이를 흰쥐에 8주간 공급하였다. 바이오갈릭은 흰쥐의 식이 섭취량에는 영향을 끼치지 않았으나 체중의 증가 정도를 유의적으로 억제하였다. 또한 혈중 총콜레스테롤 및 중성지방의 수준을 저하시켰으며, HDL-콜레스테롤의 수준을 증가시키는 효과를 나타내었다. 이와 같이 바이오갈릭에는 동맥경화지수를 감소시키는 생리활성이 있는 것을 알 수 있었으며 향후 혈행개선 효과를 갖는 건강 지향적 식품소재로서의 사용에 대한 가능성이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Preparation of Cellulose Nanofibril/Regenerated Silk Fibroin Composite Fibers

  • Wet-spun silk fibers have attracted the attention of many researchers because of 1) the unique properties of silk as a biomaterial, including good biocompatibility and cyto-compatability and 2) the various methods available to control the structure and properties of the fiber. Cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) have typically been used as a reinforcing material for natural and synthetic polymers. In this study, CNF-embedded silk fibroin (SF) nanocomposite fibers were prepared for the first time. The effects of CNF content on the rheology of the dope solution and the characteristics of wet-spun CNF/SF composite fibers were also examined. A 5% SF formic acid solution that contained no CNFs showed nearly Newtonian fluid behavior, with slight shear thinning. However, after the addition of 1% CNFs, the viscosity of the dope solution increased significantly, and apparent shear thinning was observed. The maximum draw ratio of the CNF/SF composite fibers decreased as the CNF content increased. Interestingly, the crystallinity index for the silk in the CNF/SF fibers was sequentially reduced as the CNF content was increased. This phenomenon may be due to the fact that the CNFs prevent ${\beta}$-sheet crystallization of the SF by elimination of formic acid from the dope solution during the coagulation process. The CNF/SF composite fibers displayed a relatively smooth surface with stripes, at low magnification (${\times}500$). However, a rugged nanoscale surface was observed at high magnification (${\times}10,000$), and the surface roughness increased with the CNF content.
