Cellular Glass Foam과 Peatmoss를 함유한 혼합배지에서 관수빈도가 토마토 플러그묘의 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Irrigation Frequency on Growth of Tomato Plug Seedlings in Media Containing Cellular Glass Foam and Peatmoss)

  • 본 실험은 폐기된 유리물질을 재가공하여 입자화한 CGF(cellular glass foam)를 펄라이트 대체 혼합상토로 이용하기 위하여 수행되었다. CGF의 입자크기를2.0∼4.0 mm로 조절한 후 피트모스와 혼합하여 배지를 조제하였고 관수빈도에 따른 Lycopersicum esculentum 'Segye' 플러그묘의 생육을 비교히였다. CGF와 피트모스의 혼합비율은 25:75와 33:67(%, v/v)이였으며 관수빈도는 2일에 1회, 2회, 또는 3회로 하였고, 상업용 플러그 배지(토실이 배지)에 1일 I회 관수한 것을 대조구로 하였다. 파종 후 33일에 플러그묘의 초장, 경경, 줄기와 뿌리의 생체중과 건물중, 엽수, 엽면적, 엽록소 함량, 그리고 배지의 pH와 EC를 조사하였다. 배지 혼합비율에 따른 플러그묘의 전체 생육은 유의성이 낮았다. 관수빈도에 따른 경경, 엽수, 엽면적, 줄기와 뿌리의 생체중과 건물중, T/R 그리고 배지의 EC에서 유의적인 차이를 보였다 CGF와 피트모스를 25:75(%, v/v)로 혼합한 배지에 관수빈도를 높인 처리에서 묘의 생육이 가장 좋았다.

  • 본 연구에서는 새만금과 같은 간척지를 활용하여 대규모 첨단온실단지를 조성하는 경우 간척지의 환경적 특수성 중 높은 풍속에 따른 유리 단열재의 에너지 효율을 평가하였다. 현장에서 주로 사용되는 온실 단열재 중 4가지에 대한 평가 결과, 최대 37.4%의 에너지 차이를 보여, 온실 피복재의 선정이 중요함을 제시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 일반적인 내륙에서의 온실을 설계하는 것과 달리, 간척지에서는 내재해성 온실규격을 따라 시설을 설계하여야 하며, 에너지 소비량은 높아진 풍속과 재질을 고려하여 산정되어야 한다. 본 연구의 결과는 에너지 효율성을 온실 피복재의 종류와 풍속에 따라서 제시하고 있으며, 이는 대규모 첨단온실 조성 시 에너지 소비량을 예측하고, 이를 바탕으로 신재생에너지원을 포함하는 에너지 설계에 활용될 수 있다

분리식 PDMS/유리 중합효소연쇄반응칩 개발 및 유전적 남성불임 검사에의 응용 (Development of Detachable PDMS/Glass PCR-Chip and It's Application to Detection of Male Infertility)

  • Our precedent study has reported glass-PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) based biochip for the gene PCR (polymerase chain reaction). To prevent the contamination of bio sample, the once used biochip must not be used repeatedly. However, the fabrication cost of microheater and microsensor of the biochip was not cheap to use it as a disposable chip. This paper proposes new PCR-chip where the glass substrate integrated with the microheater and microsensor is detachable from the reaction chamber where the sample is injected. That makes it possible to reuse the glass substrate repeatedly. The performance of the proposed detachable PCR-chip was compared with that of the precedent monolithic PCR-chip. The results showed that the SRY (sex determining Y chromosome) gene PCR was successfully performed in the detachable chip compared with the monolithic chip. However, the more efforts to improve the efficiency of surface treatment of PDMS chip are needed to increase the possibility of applying the detachable chip to the detecting of male infertility.

인공발(Prosthetic Foot) 스프링용 유리섬유강화 적층재의 적층배향에 따른 층간분리거동 해석 (Analysis of Delamination Behavior on the Stacking Sequence of Prosthetic Foot Keel in Glass fiber Reinforced Laminates)

  • It is considered that the application of advanced composite materials to the prostheses for the disables is important to improve their bio-mechanical performance. Particularly, energy storing foot prosthesis is mostly important to restore gait ability of the disables with low-extremity amputation since it could provide propulsion at terminal stance enhancing the disables ability to walk long distance even run and jump. Therefore, the energy storing spring of Prosthetic foot keel under cyclic bending moment use mainly of high strength glass fiber reinforced plastic. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the stacking sequence effect using the delamination growth rate(dA$_{D}$/dN) of energy storing spring in glass fiber reinforced plastic under cyclic bending moment. The test results indicated that the shape of delamination zone depends on stacking sequence in GFRP laminates. Delamination area(A$_{D}$) turns out that variable types with the contour increased non-linearly toward the damage zones.nes.

희토류 첨가 광소재의 나노구조 : Dy 첨가 Ge-As-S 유리의 X-선 흡수 스펙트럼 분석 (Nanostructure of Optical Materials Doped with Rare-Earths: X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy of Dy-Doped Ge-As-S Glass)

  • Dy $L_3$-edge XANES and EXAFS spectra of chalcogenide Ge-As-S glass doped with ca. 0.2 wt% dysprosium have been investigated along with some reference Dy-containing crystals. Amplitude of the white-line peak in XANES spectrum of the glass sample turns out to be stronger than that of other reference crystals, i.e., $DY_2S_3,\;Dy_2O_3\;and\;DyBr_3$. It has been verified from the Dy $L_3$-edge EXAFS spectra that a central Dy atom is surrounded by $6.7{\pm}0.5$ sulfur atoms in its first coordination shell in the Ge-As-S glass, which is relatively smaller than 7.5 of the $Dy_2S_3$ crystal. Averaged Dy-S inter-atomic-distance of the glass ($2.78{\pm}0.01{\AA}$) also turns out to be somewhat shorter than that of the $Dy_2S_3$ crystal ($2.82{\pm}0.01{\AA}$). Such nanostructural changes occurring at Dy atoms imply there being stronger covalency of Dy-S chemical bonds in the Ge-As-S glass than in the crystal counterpart. The enhanced covalency in the nanostructural environment of $Dy^{3+}$ ions inside the glass would then be responsible for optical characteristics of the $4f{\leftrightarrow}4f$ transitions of the dopants, i.e., increase of oscillator strengths and spontaneous radiative transition probabilities.

Synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) by radiation-induced polymerization and separation of ferulic acid from rice oil using MIP-packed column

  • A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized by radiation-induced polymerization (RIP), where the ferulic acid was used as a template molecule, 4-vinylpyridine as a monomer and ethylene glycoldimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a cross-linking monomer. The MIP was packed in a glass column using a slurry method for use in medium pressure liquid chromatography (MPLC). The MPLC column was tested for separation and purification of ferulic acid from the rice oil. When repeated three times, the MPLC separation/purification yielded the ferulic acid with the purity higher than ~99%. The chemiluminescence of the luminal (5-amino-2,3-dihydro-1,4-phtalazinedione) measured on a potato disc slide (5.0 mm thick) was enhanced in the presence of ferulic acid, while, without the ferulic acid, the chemiluminescence of luminol on the potato slice disc was not observed, which suggests the ferulic acid obtained from the rice oil can be useful for immunoassay.

골결손부에서 Bioactive glass와 차폐막의 골재생 효과 (THE EFFECT OF BIOACTIVE GLASS AND A RESORBABLE MEMBRANE ON B ONE REGENERATION OF THE MANDIBULAR BONE DEFECTS IN RABBIT)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of Bioactive glass on bone regeneration in the experimental mandibular bone defects. Five rabbits, weighing about 2.0kg, were used. Three artificial bone defects, $5{\times}5{\times}5mm$ in size, were made at the inferior border of the mandible. In the experimental group 1, the bone defect was grafted with $Biogran^{(R)}$ and covered with $Bio-Gide^{(R)}$ resorbable membrane. In the experimental group 2, $Biogran^{(R)}$ was grafted only. In the control group, the bone defect was filled with blood clot and was spontaneously healed. The animals were sacrificed at 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks after the graft. Microscopic examination was performed. Results obtained were as follows: In the control group, the osteoid tissue was observed at week 1 and the bone trabeculi were connected each other and matured at week 2. The lamellar bone formation appeared at week 4, and the amount of bone tissue was increased at week 8. In the experimental group 1, the fibrous tissue was filled between the granules of Bioactive glass and the cartilage formation was found adjacent to the normal bone at week 1. The bone tissue was formed between the granules at week 2, while the amount of bone tissue increased and the lamellar bone formation was observed at week 4. The lamellar bone was increased at week 8. Histologic findings were Similar between the experimental groups 1 and 2, although the amount of Bioactive glass granules lost was increased in the latter. These results suggest that new bone formation is found around the Bioactive glass granules grafted into the bone defects, and the membrane plays a role in keeping the granules and preventing the fibrous tissue invasion.

Comparative study of individual and co-application of biochar and wood vinegar on growth of perilla (Perilla frutescens var.) and soil quality

  • Biochar can be obtained by using various types of biomass under an oxygen-limited condition. Biochar can be utilized for various applications such as soil improvement, waste management, growth promotion, and adsorption. Wood vinegar is produced by the process of pyrolysis wood biomass and is used as a growth promoter, for soil improvement, and as a feed additive. When wood vinegar is treated on soil, it acts to control soil pH, improve nutrient availability, and alleviate N2O and NH3 volatilization. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of biochar and wood vinegar on the growth of perilla and soil quality. The experiment was conducted by using a Wagner pot (1·5,000 a-1) in a glass greenhouse. The biochar was produced by pyrolysis at 450℃ for 30 minutes using rice husk and rice straw. Wood vinegar was diluted to 1 : 500 (v·v-1) and used in this experiement. In the results of a cultivation experiment, co-application of biochar and wood vinegar enhanced the growth of perilla. In particular, rice husk biochar affected the leaves of the perilla, and rice straw biochar influenced the stems of the perilla. In addition, soil quality after treatment with biochar and wood vinegar applied together was highest compared to other units. Therefore, it is anticipated that co-application of biochar and wood vinegar will be more productive and improve soil quality compared to individual utilization of biochar and wood vinegar.

  • 친환경 소재인 바이오복합재료(bio-composites)의 제조를 위하여 기질 고분자로는 poly(lactic acid) (PLA)를 그리고 충전제(filler)로는 케나프 섬유(kenaf fiber)를 사용하였다. 또한 섬유와 고분자 사이의 계면결합 향상을 위해 아세틸화 케나프 섬유(acetylated kenaf fiber)와 상용화제(compatibilizer)를 첨가해 주었다. 본 연구에서는 화학처리와 상용화제가 기계적-점탄성과 형태학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 평가하였고, 섬유가 소수성이 될수록 기질 고분자와 높은 계면결합을 가지며 물성과 형태학적 성질 또한 향상된다는 결과를 보여줬다. 그러나 점탄성과 유리전이온도에는 큰 영향을 미치지 않는다는 사실을 확인하였다.

인체에 유해하지 않은 원소를 사용한 Ti 계 벌크 비정질 합금 개발 (Development of Ti-based Bulk Metallic Glasses with Non-toxic Elements)

  • Ti-based bulk metallic glasses with high glass forming ability were developed through a systematic alloy design technique. The main alloy design strategy was the selection of alloying elements that may not be toxic in the human body. The $Ti_{45.0}Cu_{40.1}Zr_{12.7}Si_{2.2}$ alloy could be cast into an amorphous rod with the diameter of 3 mm by a suction casting technique using Cu mold. The compressive strength of the amorphous rod was measured as 1826 MPa. Since the Ti-based amorphous alloys consist of non-toxic elements, they can be widely used as bio-materials and eco-materials with unique and beneficial properties.
