This study evaluates the ratio of Toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) functional group isocyanate (NCO) to the binder functional hydroxyl group (OH) in HTPB/AP/Al-based propellants on their mechanical properties, flow rate, and viscosity to determine the limitations of NCO/OH in the composition of solid propellants. The propellants consisted of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) polyurethane (PU), aluminum (Al) and tri-modal ammonium perchlorate (AP). The tri-modal AP consisted of 30% of coarse AP, 30% of medium AP, and 8% of fine AP. The ratio of NCO/OH varies from 0.73 to 0.85, with two binder percentages of 10.5% and 12%. An increase in NCO/OH ratio with 10.5% binder provided 20%, 95%, and 8 to 9% increments in UTS, modulus, and hardness, respectively. However, the propellant elongation, density, and flow rate decreased by 170%, 0.2%, and 11-12%, respectively. Viscosity increased 20% based on initial hour reading. The 12% binder provides 27%, 47%, and 5~6% an increment of UTS, modulus and hardness respectively. However, the propellant elongation, density, and flow rate decreased by 47%, 0.17% and 27%, respectively. The viscosity increased 30% based on initial hour reading. This study suggests the NCO/OH value of 0.77 and 10.5~11% binder content in propellant based on the mechanical properties, flow rate, and viscosity for better processing and pot life.
The present study aims to investigate the influence of the water to binder ratio of finishing mortar on the floor impact sound of apartments. For this, same resilient materials Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) with constant dynamic stiffness and different mortar layers with 52 %, 66 % and 72 % water to binder ratio respectively were used to build floating floor structures on which floor impact sounds were measured in standard testing facilities. As a result, it was found that light-weight floor impact sound was transmitted well when the water to binder ratio was 52% due to the high density. In case of heavy-weight floor impact sounds, since water to binder ratio of finishing mortar becomes higher as the weight of upper layer of resilient material lighter, it was shown that the natural frequency of floating floor structure moves to 63 Hz bandwidth which eventually cause a higher sound pressure level of floor impact sound. Thus, effect of water to binder ratio of mortar on the heavy-weight floor impact sounds was investigated.
The present study proposed a k-value to determine the water-to-binder ratio of concrete using fly ash (FA) or ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) as a partial replacement of ordinary portland cement (OPC) with regard to an equivalent strength of OPC concrete. From the regression analysis using an extensive database including 7076 concrete mixes, k-values were determined for various water-to-binder ratios when the replacement ratio of OPC by the addition of FA or GGBS were below 50%. For deriving an equation to identify k-value, the relationship of concrete compressive strength and water-to-binder ratio was generalized by an exponential function. In general, k-values decreased with the increases in the addition of FA or GGBS for replacement of OPC and water-to-binder ratio. The rate in decreasing k-value against water-to-binder ratio was marginally affected by the addition of FA or GGBS, although a higher k-value was commonly obtained for GGBS concrete than for FA concrete at the same water-to-binder ratio. Consequently, the determined k-values were simplified as a function of water-to-binder ratio and the addition ratio of FA or GGBS as replacement of OPC.

This study describes the optimum mix proportion of the high strength and self-compacting concrete placed in main structures of LNG above tank. This concrete requires high strength level about $60{\sim}80MPa$, low hydration heat, balance between workability and consistency without vibrating in the actual work. For this purpose, low heat portland cement and fly ash are selected and design factors including water-binder ratio, replacement ratio of fly ash are tested. As experimental results, low heat portland cement shows lower the confined water ratio than another cement type and the optimum replacement ratio of fly ash in order to improve properties of the binder-paste shows 10% by cement weight considering test results of the confined water ratio$({\beta}p)$. Also, flowability of the high strength and self-compacting concrete by using fly ash about $10{\sim}20%$ is improved. The replacement ratio of fly ash 10% and water-binder ratio $25{\sim}27%$ are suitable to the design strength 80MPa and cost, In case of the design strength 60MPa, the replacement ratio of fly ash and water-binder ratio show 20% and $25{\sim}30%$ separately. Based on the results of this study, the optimum mix proportions of the high strength and self-compacting concrete will be applied to the construction of LNG above tank as a new type.

The paper presents details of an investigation into the effect of sand content upon the strength and shrinkage of mortar. This strategy was to produces more durable strength mortar with less cement. Cement mortars containing $20\;wt.\;\%$ Class F fly ash, and/or $6\;wt.\;\%$ silica fume were prepared at a water/binder ratio of 0.45 and sand/binder ratios of 2.0, 2.5, 2.7, and 3.0. The increase in sand/binder ratio caused a decrease in the mortar flow. However, the sand/binder ratio did not affect the strength development. Drying shrinkage decreased with increasing the sand contents.

The effects of polymer-binder ratio and slag content on the properties of combined wet/dry-cured polymer-modified mortars using granulated blast-furnace slag (slag) are examined. As a result, the flexural and compressive strengths of polymer-modified mortar using slag reaches a maximum at a slag content of 40%, and is inclined to increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio. The water absorption, carbonation depth and chloride ion penetration depth tend to decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio and slag content.

This research investigates experimentally an effect on the quality performances of the high flowing concrete according to binder types. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix proportion of the high flowing concrete having good flowability, viscosity and no-segregation. For this purpose, two types using belite cement+lime stone powder(LSP) and furnace slag cement+lime stone powder are selected and tested by design factors including water cement ratio, fine and coarse aggregate volume ratio. As test results of this study, the optimum mix proportion for binder types is as followings. 1) One type based belite cement ; water cement ratio $51^{\circ}C$, fine aggregate volume ratio $43^{\circ}C$ and coarse aggregate volume ratio $53^{\circ}C$, replacement ratio of LSP $42.7^{\circ}C$. 2) Another type based slag cement : water cement ratio $41^{\circ}C$, fine aggregate volume ratio $47^{\circ}C$ and coarse aggregate volume ratio $53^{\circ}C$, replacement ratio of LSP $13.5^{\circ}C$.

This study was carried out to investigate quantitatively the relatonship between the water binder ratio and the concrete strength using finely ground granulated furnace blast slag to apply f 0.5% type admixture. The experimental parameters are water-binder ratio (40, 45, 50, 55, 60%) and slag contents(0, 10, 20, 30%). As a result, it can make that the water-binder ratio of concrete contented slag can be calculated by equation using relationship between compressive strength of concrete and water-binder ratio which is consisted of mixing strength and cement strength K.

The effects of polymer-binder ratio, antifoamer content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the air content and strengths of high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes are examined. As a result, the air content of the polymer-modified pastes tends to decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio and antifoamer content. Irrespective of the antifoamer content, the flexural and tensile strengths of the high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes tends to increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio, and tend to decrease with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content. However, the compressive strength of the polymer-modified pastes decreases with increasing polymer-binder ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content.

A styrene solution of waste expanded polystyrene with a crosslinking agent and an initiator was used as a binder for waste wood-plastic composite panels. The waste wood-plastic composite panels are prepared with various binder contents and filler-binder ratios by using a hot press molding method. The apparent density of the composite panels is increased with increasing binder content and filler-binder ratio, while their water absorption and expansion in thickness are decreased with increasing binder content and filler-binder ratio. The maximum flexural strength and wet flexural strength of the composite panels are obtained at a binder content of 35% and a filler-binder ratio of 0.8. Decreases in the flexural strengths of the composite panels due to water immersion at 20 and $100^{\circ}C$ are hardly recognized at binder contents of 30% or more.
