The effect of pre-treatment on superconducting property and deformation of Bi-2223/Ag tapes. (Bi-2223/Ag 고온초전도 선재의 전처리에 따른 가공성 및 초전도 특성)

  • Pre-treatment of Bi-2223/Ag tapes has been investigated to improve the superconducting property and grain alignment. However, rolling deformability of Bi-2223/Ag wires was degraded by the breakage of Ag alloy sheath after pre-treatment. Various pre-treatment conditions were tried to prevent the problem of sliver sheath and improve the superconducting property of Bi-2223/Ag tapes. Filament precursor of Bi-2223/Ag tapes was modified to be textured easily during main sintering by the optimum pre-treatment with low oxygen pressure and up to $800^{\circ}C$. Critical current was also increased up to 20% than that of no pre-treated tape.

  • A lot of efforts have been focused on the optimization of PIT parameters for Bi-2223/Ag wire. Bi-2223 superconducting wires with 55 filaments were fabricated by stacking, drawing process. Before rolling process, round wires were pre -annealed at 760 - 820 $^{\circ}C$ and low oxygen partial pressure. We confirmed that pre-annealing step was to transform Bi-2212 orthorhombic structure from Bi-2212 tetragonal structure and to reduce the formation of second phases. However Bi-2223 phases also were formed at higher than 76$0^{\circ}C$ of pre-annealing temperature. The engineering critical current densities (Je) of Bi-22231Ag tapes were sintered at low oxygen partial pressure were higher than t hat of the wires sintered at air. We could achieve 6500 A/${cm}^2$ of Je for the tape that was initially kept at slightly higher temperature than that of normal heat treatment.

  • $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{x}$(Bi-2212) and $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{y}$(Bi-2223) high-$T_{c}$ superconductor(HTS) coating have been prepared by plasma spraying and heaat treatment. The Bi-2212 HTS coating later is synthesized through the peritectic reaction between Sr-Ca-Cu oxide coating layer and Bi-Cu oxide coating later, and $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{y}$(Bi-2212) superconducting phase grow by partial melting process. The superconducting characteristic depends strongly on the conditions of the partial melting process. the Bi-2212 HTS layer consists of the whiskers grown in the diffusion direction. Above the 2212 layer, Bi-2223 phase and secondary phase was observed. The secondary phase is distributed uniformly over the whole surface. This is caused to the microcrack on the coatings surface. Despite everything, the film shows superconducting with an onset $T_{c}$ of about 115K. There are two changes steps. One changes (1step) at 115K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2223 phase and the other changes (2step) at 78K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2212 phase.

  • Long length of Bi-2223/Ag superconducting wives were fabricated by stacking and drawing process with advanced heat-treatment schedules. Intermediate annealing was carried out to increase the homogeneity and uniformity of the superconducting filaments embedded in the silver matrix. Phase modification from tetragonal to orthorhombic Bi-2212 by pre heat treatment(PHT) was executed to improve the texture and phase transformation of Bi-2223. Drawing stress was measured to predict the sausaging and stress limit. Rolling Parameters such as thickness. width and winding tension were investigated to roll the tape with uniformity. 1 km length of Bi-2223/Ag superconducting wires were fabricated without any breakage. Critical current (Je) of 270 m length of superconducting tapes was measured over than $70 A/cm^2$ continuously after final sintering.

  • Long length of Bi-2223 superconducting wires were fabricated by stacking, drawing process with different precursor owders and different heat-treatment histories. The precursor powders were 2 kinds of Pb content. And a part of the tapes were experienced pre-annealing process which caused tetragonal structure of Bi-2212 phase to orthorhombic structure of it was during drawing process. We confirmed the transformation of Bi-2212 phase from tetragonal structure to orthorhombic structure and reduction of second phases. We designed and made a continuous Ic measurement system for Bi-2223/Ag HTS tape. We could achieve best Ic of 65 A at the Bi-2223/Ag tape using low Pb content of precursor powder and experienced pre-annealing process.

  • BSCCO:2212-2223 thin films were fabricated by using the ion beam sputter with a evaporation method at various substrate temperatures, $T_{sub}$, and ozone gas pressures, $pO_3$. The correlation diagrams of the BSCCO phases with Tsub and $pO_3$ are established in the 2212 and 2223 compositional films. In spite of 2212 compositional sputtering, Bi2201 and Bi2223 as well as Bi2212 phases come out as stable phases depending on Tsub and $pO_3$. From these results, the thermodynamic evaluation of ${\Delta}H$ and ${\Delta}S$, which are related with Gibbs' free energy change for single Bi2212 or Bi2223 phase, was performed.

  • High duality BiSrCaCuO thin films fabricated by using the i-beam sputtering method at various substrate temperatures, $T_{sub}$ and oxidation gas pressures, $pO_3$.   • To enhance the formation of Bi,Sr,Ca,Cu,O,(Bi-2223) single phase in a shorter reaction time, the intermediate compounds such as Bi,Sr,CuO,(Bi-2201). BizSr,CaCuz08(Bi-2212) and (Ca, Sr,, ,9)CuOz in the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-0 system were used as the precursors. The formation of Bi-2223 was enhanced in the mixture of Bi-2201 and (Ca, ,,Sr, 119)C~eOsZpe,c ially from the mixture with (Ca, 9I Sr, ,,)CuO,-rich composition compared to Bi, iPb, 4Sr2Ca,Cu3010-cxo mposition. The formation of Bi- 2223 essentially completed within 60h at 860$^{\circ}$C and 870$^{\circ}$C. However, a small amount of the remnant Bi-2212 phase did not disappear even after a prolonged reaction at 870'C. The merit of the proposed synthetic method using the intermediate precusors can be summarized as a shorter reaction time for the formation of Bi-2223 phase, in addition to a smaller amount of second phases compared to the conventional solid-state reaction method.

  • Bi-2223도체의 종자계 손실에 대하여 실험적으로 조사하였으며, Bi-2223도체의 종자계 손실은 주파수에는 의존하지 않으며, 이는 수직 수평방향의 자장에 대한 자화손실처럼 히스테리시스손실이 지배적임을 의미한다. 또한 측정된 자계 손실은 절충 본수에도 그다지 의존하지 않으며, 필라멘트들 사이가 완전히 비결합된 모델로부터 계산된 손실에 더 유사하고, 수평방향의 자장에 대한 자화손실의 약 1/5정도로 작으며, 따라서 종자계 손실은 전력기기에서 그다지 중요하지 않음을 알수 있었다.

  • The normal zone propagation (NZP) velocity and V-I characteristics of two Bi-2223 pancake coils with different Ag/SC ratio were investigated based on the experimental results and broad resistive transition were obesved in two coils. The measured NZP velocity of coil was found to be faster due to increase of Ag/SC ratio, and agree well with calculated data from two dimensional heat balance equation.
