This paper attempts to develop a connection model based on FE analysis that can be applied to the evaluation of earthquake fragility of Steel Storage Racks lacking research in Korea. In order to accomplish this goal, shaking table tests, modal tests, and various member tests (8 case, push-over test) for structural members have been conducted to understand the behavior of steel storage racks. Based on the experimental results, detailed modeling of the joints was conducted using the NX-Nastran program in order to develop a connection model for Steel storage racks to be applied to the seismic vulnerability assessment. Especially, surface to surface contact element and spring element are applied to simulate the connection between the column member and the beam member connected by the simple latch method. Spring element model developed and applied ARX (Auto Regressive eXogenous) based mathematical model. The simulation results based on the FE model showed excellent reliability with a mutual error rate of less than 8% when compared with the member test results. As a result, it was confirmed that the FE model based connection model developed in the study can be applied to the analytical model for the seismic vulnerability assessment of Steel storage racks.

The rectangular resonant cavity was designed and characterized as a microwave plasma source for focused ion beam. The optimum cavity was calculated analytically and analyzed in detail by using HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). Since the resonant cavity can be affected by the permittivity of quartz chamber and plasma, the cavity is designed to be changeable in one direction. By observing the microwave input power at which the breakdown begins, the optimum cavity length for breakdown is measured and compared with the calculated one, showing in good agreement with the optimum length reduced by 10cm according to the permittivity change in the presence of quartz chamber. The shape of breakdown power curve as a function of pressure appears to be similar to Paschen-curve. After breakdown, plasma densities increase with microwave power and the reduced effective permittivity in the cavity with plasma results in larger optimum length. However, it is not possible to optimize the cavity condition for high density plasmas with increased input power, because too high input power causes expansion of density cutoff region where microwave cannot penetrate. For more accurate microwave cavity design to generate high density plasma, plasma column inside and outside the density cutoff region needs to be treated as a conductor or dielectric.

This research deals, The characteristics of mechanics and behavior of the tube structural systems, It has been investigated and considered conventional theory and case models, It has shown the suitability, The best location, And optimal shape of the unit module system, Considered variables materials of stiffness increase and decrease in hybrid tube structural systems this study carried out adapting analysis of statistical concepts. In a concrete way, This study exams the effect of reducing horizontal displacement and the shear lag phenomenon, Also, The purpose of this study is to utilize the basic data on the design and study of future high-rise hybrid structural system using this research. As a result, The framed- tube structural system does not effectively cope with horizontal behavior of high-rise buildings, The results of using varying material tested resistance factors and lateral loads in hybrid tube structural system, When each material is compared Bracing material is identified as a key factor in lateral behavior. In a ratio of material quantity framed-tube structural system, The level of sensitivity affecting the horizontal displacement is greater then the beam's column, In case of braced tube structural system, Braced appeared to be most sensitive in comparison of material quantity ratio in columns and beams.

For the design of structural systems having the prescribed or optimum dynamic characteristics, some design changes of the initially designed system are required. In these cases, if the sensitivity analysis which can predict the changes of dynamic characteristics due to the changes of design variables is applied, the design changes can be carried out rationally and very efficiently. For many structural systems, it is well known that the analysis by the transfer matrix method(TMM) and the combined finite element-transfer matrix method(FETMM) is more efficient than the analysis by the finite element method. However, most known studies on the sensitivity analysis of structural systems premise using the finite element method. In this paper, the sensitivity analysis methods by the TMM and the FETMM are presented and some numerical investigations on the beam-column with elastically restrained ends and intermediate contraints and the stiffened plate having subsystems are carried out. The results of the numerical examples show good accuracy and computational efficiency of the presented methods, and show that the application of sensitivity analysis in the dynamic characteristic reanalysis give good results within the practically changeable range of design variables.
The development of reinforcing steel is required in reinforced concrete structures. The standard hooks that have been widely used for the tensile development in the beam-column joints tend to create difficulties of construction such as steel congestion as the member cross sections are becoming smaller due to the use of higher strength concrete and higher grade steel. Using the reinforcing bars with end mechanical anchoring device (headed reinforcement) provides potential economies in construction such as reduction in development lengths, simplified details, and improved responses to cyclic loadings. In this paper, the pullout strengths and behaviors of the headed reinforcement were experimentally studied. In 33 pullout tests performed using D25 deformed reinforcing bars, the test parameters were embedment depth, edge distance, head size, and the use of transverse reinforcement. The pullout strengths determined from tests closely agreed with the pullout strengths predicted using the CCD method. The pullout strengths increased with increasing embedment depths nd edge distances. The strengths tend to increase with the use of larger heads. From the experimental program where the effect of the transverse reinforcement was examined, a modification factor to the CCD was suggested to represent the effect of such reinforcement that is installed across the concrete failure plane on the pullout strengths.
Fixed connection is generally used for beam and column connections of concrete structures, but significant damages at the connection due to severe earthquakes have been reported. In order to reduce damages of the connection and improve seismic performance of the connection, several innovative connections have been suggested. One newly proposed connection type allows a rotation of the connection for applications in rotating or rocking beams, columns, and shear walls. Such structural elements would provide a nonlinear lateral force-displacement response since their contact depth developed during rotation is gradually reduced and the stress across the sections of the elements is non-linearly distributed around a contact area, which is called an elastic hinge region in the present study. The purpose of the present study is to define the elastic hinge region or length for the rocking columns, through investigating the cross-sectional stress distribution during their lateral behavior. Performing a finite element analysis (FEA), several parameters are considered including axial load levels (5% and 10% of nominal strength), different boundary conditions (confined-ends and cantilever types), and slenderness ratios (length/depth = 5, 7, 10). The FEA results showed that the elastic hinge length does not directly depend on the parameters considered, but it is governed by a contact depth only. The elastic hinge length started to develop after an opening state and increased non-linearly until a rocking point(pre-rocking). However, the length did not increase any more after the rocking point (post-rocking) and remained as a constant value. Half space model predicting the elastic hinge length is adapted and the results are compared with the numerical results.
Tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) thin films were deposited using r.f. magnetron reactive sputtering and the electrical properties, such as the resistivity, carrier concentration and mobility, were investigated as a function of the sample position under a given magnetron sputtering condition. The nonhomogeneity of the electrical properties with the sample position was observed under a given magnetron sputtering condition. The resistivity of ITO thin film on the substrate which corresponded to the center of the target had a minimum value, 2∼4$\times$10$\^$-4/$\Omega$$.$cm, and it increased symmetrically when the substrate deviated from the center. The density measurement result also showed that ITO thin film deposited at the center has a maximum density of 7.0g/cm$^3$, which was a relative density of about 97%, and the density decreased symmetrically as the substrate deviated from the center. The nonhomogeneity of electrical properties with the deposition position could be explained with the incidence angle of the source beam alpha, which is related with an atomic self-shadowing effect. It was confirmed experimentally that the density in film affect both the carrier mobility and the conductivity. In the case where the density of ITO thin film is 7.0g/cm$^3$, the magnitude of the mean free path was identical with that of the grain size(the diameter of column). However, in the other cases, the mean free path was smaller than the grain size. These results showed that the scattering of the free electrons at the grain boundary is the major factor for the electrical conduction in ITO thin films having a high density, and there exists other scattering sources such as vacancies, holes, or pores in ITO thin films having a low density.ing a low density.

In this paper, the floor vibration of an example concert hall building was measured and floor safety criteria were analytically checked through comparison between experimental and analytical results. The floor bottom plate model was constructed considering the composite effect and the analytical model was modified to have the natural frequency identical to the measured one. Also, time history analysis was conducted using the dynamic loads induced by human rhythmic movement during a musical performance, and the analytically calculated floor accelerations were similar to the measured one. Based on this model, the floor vibration level due to the group activities of about 400 persons, maximum available persons for the concert hall, was estimated. It was confirmed that the human induced dynamic loads applied to the column and beam would be much lower than the design strength. In addition, the horizontal acceleration level is just 2% of the design seismic load, so the concert hall is safe in both vertical and horizontal excitations by human rhythmic movements.

The diaphragm used for CFT columns has a small amount of steel to be used, but has a disadvantage that welding is difficult and openings are required because the steel tube and four sides must be welded. The improved diaphragm to be examined in this study was cut into four corners by cutting the center hole for concrete filling. In the improved diaphragm, the width of the center hole is the same as that of the previous diaphragm, but the width of the diaphragm contacting the steel tube is reduced, thereby reducing the welding length by about 70% compared to the previous diaphragm. The in-plane strain of each specimen was analyzed when the same load was applied to the interior diaphragm through a simple tensile test. Using the general FEM program(ANSYS 19.2), the analysis was performed under the same conditions as the actual simple tensile test, and the load transfer between the improved diaphragm and the previous diaphragm was compared. When the width of the diaphragm is equal to or smaller than the flange width, stress is concentrated from the end of the diaphragm, and when the flange width is larger, stress is concentrated at the center.
Purpose: After analyzing the seismic capability of low-rise RC grid structures with insufficient seismic performance, the purpose of the project is to install steel slab hysteretic dampers (SSHD) to improve the seismic performance of beams and columns, and to suggest measures to minimize damage to the structure and human damage when an earthquake occurs. Method: The evaluation of the seismic performance of a structure is reviewed based on the assumption that the seismic performance is identified for the grid-type subway systems that are not designed to be seismic resistant and the installation of an SSHD system, a method that minimizes construction period, if insufficient, is required. Result: After the application and reinforce of structure with SSHD, and the results of eigenvalue analysis are as follows. The natural periodicity of longitudinal direction was 0.55s and that of vertical direction was 0.58s. Conclusion: As results of cyclic load test of structure with SSHD, the shear rigidity of damper is 101%, the energy dissipation rate is 108% and, plastic rotation angle of all column and beam is satisfied for $I_o$ level and therefore it is judged that the reinforce effect is sufficient.
