Wireless power transmission (WPT) for wireless charging is currently attracting much attention as a promising approach to miniaturize batteries and increase the maximum total range of an electric vehicle. The main advantage of the laser power beam (LPB) approach is its high power transmission efficiency (PTE) over long distance. In this paper, we present the design of a laser power beam based WPT system, which has a best WPT channel selection technique at the receiver end when multiple power transmitters and single power receiver are operated simultaneously. The transmitters send their transmission channel information via optically modulated laser pulses. The receiver uses the received signal strength indicator and digitized data to choose an optimum power transmission path. We modeled a vertical multi-junction photovoltaic cell array, and conducted an experiment and simulation to test the feasibility of this system. From the experimental result, the standard deviation between the mathematical model and the measured values of normalized energy distribution is 0.0052. The error between the mathematical model and measured values are acceptable, thus the validity of the model is verified.
The control of the data retention time is a main issue for realizing future high density dynamic random access memory. The novel junction process scheme in sub-micron DRAM cell with STI(Shallow Trench Isolation) has been investigated to improve the tail component in the retention time distribution which is of great importance in DRAM characteristics. In this' paper, we propose the new implantation scheme by gate-related ion beam shadowing effect and buffer-enhanced ${\Delta}Rp$ (projected standard deviation) increase using buffered N-implantation with tilt and 4X(4 times)-rotation that is designed on the basis of the local-field-enhancement model of the tail component. We report an excellent tail improvement of the retention time distribution attributed to the reduction of electric field across the cell junction due to the redistribution of N-concentration which is Intentionally caused by ion Beam Shadowing and Buffering Effect using tilt implantation with 4X-rotation. And also, we suggest the least requirements for adoption of this new implantation scheme and the method to optimize the key parameters such as tilt angle, rotation number, Rp compensation and Nd/Na ratio. We used MEDICI Simulator to confirm the junction device characteristics. And measured the refresh time using the ADVAN Probe tester.
Purpose: Diagnosis of osteoarthritis most commonly depends on clinical and radiographic findings. The present study attempted to observe the bony changes in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) patients from all age groups. Materials and Methods: The first-visit clinical records and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data of 440 TMJs from 220 consecutive TMJ patients were reviewed retrospectively. Results: The most frequent condylar bony change observed was sclerosis (133 joints, 30.2%) followed by surface erosion (129 joints, 29.3%), flattening of the articular surface (112 joints, 25.5%), and deviation in form (58 joints, 13.2%), which included 33 TMJs in a cane-shape, 16 with a lateral or medial pole depression, 6 with posterior condylar surface flattening, and 3 with a bifid-shaped condyle. Fifty-three joints (12.0%) showed hypoplastic condyles but only 1 joint showed hyperplasia. Osteophyte was found in 35 joints (8.0%) and subcortical cyst in 24 joints (5.5%), 5 of which had surface erosion as well. One hundred nineteen joints (27.0%) had only one kind of condylar bony change, 66 joints (15.0%) had two, 52 joints (11.8%) had three, 12 joints (5.0%) had four, and 6 joints (1.4%) had five kinds of condylar bony changes at the same time. Eighty-five (65.9%) of 129 joints with surface erosion had pain recorded at the chief complaint. Conclusion: With more widespread use of CBCT, more specific or detailed guidelines for osteoarthritis are needed.

Purpose: This study aimed to measure the bilateral differences of facial lines in spherical coordinates from faces within a normal range of asymmetry utilizing cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: CBCT scans from 22 females with normal symmetric-looking faces (mean age 24 years and 8 months) were selected for the study. The average menton deviation was $1.01{\pm}0.66$ mm. The spherical coordinates, length, and midsagittal and coronal inclination angles of the ramal and mandibular lines were calculated from CBCT. The bilateral differences in the facial lines were determined. Results: All of the study subjects had minimal bilateral differences of facial lines. The normal range of facial asymmetry of the ramal and mandibular lines was obtained in spherical coordinates. Conclusion: The normal range of facial asymmetry in the spherical coordinate system in this study should be useful as a reference for diagnosing facial asymmetry.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of different numbers of basis images and the use of metal artifact reduction (MAR) on the production and reduction of artifacts in cone-beam computed tomography images. Materials and Methods: An acrylic resin phantom with a metal alloy sample was scanned, with 450 or 720 basis images and with or without MAR. Standard deviation values for the test areas (around the metal object) were obtained as a way of measuring artifact production. Two-way analysis of variance was used with a 5% significance level. Results: There was no significant difference in artifact production among the images obtained with different numbers of basis images without MAR (P=.985). MAR significantly reduced artifact production in the test areas only in the protocol using 720 basis images (P=.017). The protocol using 450 basis images with MAR showed no significant difference in artifact production when compared to the protocol using 720 basis images with MAR (P=.579). Conclusion: Protocols with a smaller number of basis images and with MAR activated are preferable for minimizing artifact production in tomographic images without exposing the patient to a greater radiation dose.
This paper is concerned with the dynamic analysis of simply-supported steel-concrete composite beams under moving loads. Considering the interface slip between steel girder and concrete slab, the governing motion equations are derived from the direct balanced method. By variable separation approach, the analytical solution of natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained, as well as the orthogonal conditions. Then the dynamic responses of the composite beam under moving loads are analyzed, and compared with the experimental results. The analysis results show that the governing motion equations become more complicated when interface slip is taken into account, and the dynamic behaviors are significantly influenced by the shear connection stiffness. In the dynamic calculation of composite beams, the global stiffness should not be reduced as the same factor to all orders, but as different ones according to the dynamic stiffness reduction factor (DSRF), to which should be paid more attention in calculation, design and experiment, or else great deviation is inevitable.
In this paper, a new method of noncontact measurement has been developed for a 3 dimensional topography in semiconductor wafer, implementing a new optical probe based on the precision defocus measurement. The developed technique consists of the new optical probe, precision stages, and the measurement/control system. The basic principle of the technique is to use the reflected slit beam from the specimen surface, and to measure the deviation of the specimen surface. The defocusing distance can be measured by the reflected slit beam, where the defocused image is measured by the proposed optical probe, giving very high resolution. The distance measuring formula has been proposed for the developed probe, using the laws of geometric optics. The precision calibration technique has been applied, giving about 10 nanometer resolution and 72 nanometer of four sigma uncertainty. In order to quantitize the micro pattern in the specimen surface, some efficient analysis algorithms have been developed to analyse the 3D topography pattern and some parameters of the surface. The developed system has been successfully applied to measure the wafer surface, demonstrating the line scanning feature and excellent 3 dimensional measurement capability.
A real-time method to measure full field retardation near quarter wavelength is proposed. The circularly polarized beam passes through a sample with a large aperture. The measuring beam then goes through a quarter-wave plate and is then split by a Wollaston prism. An image with two sub-images is then detected by a high-speed image sensor. The full field retardation near quarter wavelength can be obtained in real time by processing the image. The measured retardation is independent of the fast axis angle of the sample and the fluctuation of the initial intensity. In experiments, a wedge waveplate is measured with different fast axis angle and initial intensity, and the full field retardations are acquired. The maximum and standard deviation of the full field retardation is $1.5^{\circ}$ and $0.4^{\circ}$. The validity of the method is verified.
Concrete is the well-used material in many architectural and civil structures. The behavior of concrete does exhibit a different characteristic in compression and tension, and it also shows an inelastic-nonlinear behavior. In addition, the concrete properties vary slightly depending on the environmental factor and manufacturer. These properties of concrete make the modeling or simulation of concrete material difficult. In reinforced concrete, particularly, there is a difficulty in bond-slip relationship between concrete and steel. However, in this paper, reserving remainder of these limits the finite element analysis for reinforced concrete beams through ABAQUS simulation has been carried out with some assumptions. Assumptions include the perfect bond of steel and concrete as well as the concrete damaged plasticity (CDP) in concrete property. There is a reasonable agreement between the experimental and numerical results, although the analytical strength and external rod deformation are slightly overestimated. The average and standard deviation between two results are 1.05 and 0.05, respectively. And the models and the computations lead to the evolution of fracture in bending beam.
Laser beam welding process is a relatively new process in comparison with arc welding process, but it is expected to apply widely because of the many advantages, and research and development of that process is being progressed actively for the practical use. the application of this welding process has been restricted due to the high initial investment and the need of precise processing against the material, but cost reduction and thick plate welding in high speed have become practial by recent technological development, and this welding process to not only small parts in automobile, machinery and physicochemical field, but also a large structure and pipe line are being applied. In order to utilize this welding process appropriately to a steel structure, the properties of welding residual stresses and fracture toughness in welded joints are to be investigated for relibilty. On this study, after performing the finite element analysis, thermal and residual stress properties have been examined to the general structural steel (HT50) by laser beam welding. Besides, the property of fracture toughness has been investigated by the Charpy impact test and 3-points bending CTOD test carried out in the range of temperature between $-60^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$. From the research results it is revealed that the maximum residual stress appears in the center of plate thickness and the fracture toughness is influenced by strength mis-match.
