In this paper, we proposed new sensor network architecture with autonomous robots based on beacon mode and implemented real time monitoring system in real test-bed environment. The proposed scheme offers beacon based real-time scheduling for reliable association process with parent nodes and dynamically assigns network address by using NAA (Next Address Assignment) mechanism. For the large scale multi-sensor processing, our real-time monitoring system accomplished the intelligent database processing, which can generate not only the alert messages to the civilians but also process various sensing data such as fire, air, temperature and etc. Moreover, we also developed mobile robot which can support network mobility. Though the performance evaluation by using real test-bed system, we illustrate that our proposed system demonstrates promising performance for emergence monitoring systems.

Today, with the development of technology and industry, fire accidents in special buildings are increasing as special buildings increase. However, despite the rapid development of information and communication technology, human casualties are steadily occurring due to the underdeveloped and ineffective indoor fire alarm system. In this study, we confirmed that the existing indoor fire alarm system using acoustic alarm could not deliver a sufficiently large alarm to the in-room personnel. To improve this, we designed and implemented a fire alarm system using edge computing and beacons. The proposed improved fire alarm system consists of terminal sensor nodes, edge nodes, a user application, and a server. The terminal sensor nodes collect indoor environment data and send it to the edge node, and the edge node monitors whether a fire occurs through the transmitted sensor value. In addition, the edge node continuously generate beacon signals to collect information of smart devices with user applications installed within the signal range, store them in a server database, and send application push-type fire alarms to all in-room personnel based on the collected user information. As a result of conducting a signal valid range measurement experiment in a university building with dense lecture rooms, it was confirmed that device information was normally collected within the beacon signal range of the edge node and a fire alarm was quickly sent to specific users. Through this, it was confirmed that the "blind spot problem of the alarm" was solved by flexibly collecting information of visitors that changes time to time and sending the alarm to a smart device very adjacent to the people. In addition, through the analysis of the experimental results, a plan to effectively apply the proposed fire alarm system according to the characteristics of the indoor space was proposed.
For the safety messages in IEEE 802.11p vehicles network environment(WAVE), strict periodic beacon broadcasting requires status advertisement to assist the driver for safety. WAVE standards apply multiple radios and multiple channels to provide open public road safety services and improve the comfort and efficiency of driving. Although WAVE standards have been proposed multi-channel multi-radio, the standards neither consider the WAVE multi-radio environment nor its effect on the beacon broadcasting. Most of beacon broadcasting is designed to be delivered on only one physical device and one control channel by the WAVE standard. also conflict-free channel assignment of the fewest channels to a given set of radio nodes without causing collision is NP-hard, even with the knowledge of the network topology and all nodes have the same transmission radio. Based on the latest standard IEEE 802.11p and IEEE 1609.4, this paper proposes an interference aware-based channel assignment algorithm with Nash bargaining solution that minimizes interference and increases throughput with wireless mesh network, which is deigned for multi-radio multi-cahnnel structure of WAVE. The proposed algorithm is validated against numerical simulation results and results show that our proposed algorithm is improvements on 8 channels with 3 radios compared to Tabu and random channel allocation algorithm.
An ad hoc network is a multi-hop wireless network. Its limited bandwidth and frequently changing topology require that its protocol should be robust, simple, and energy conserving. We have proposed PoolODMRP to reduce its control overhead greatly by its one-hop local route maintenance. However, PoolODMRP still has some shortcomings. In this paper, we propose PDAODMRP (passive data acknowledgement ODMRP) to extend PoolODMRP. Compared with PoolODMRP, PDAODMRP has the following contributions: (1) It knows the status of its downstream forwarding nodes by route information collected from data packets instead of BEACON signal of MAC layer; (2) it max simplifies the route information collected from data packets by pool nodes; (3) it adopts a dynamic local route maintenance to enforce its local route maintenance; (4) it adopts the route evaluation policy of NSMP (neighbor supporting multicast protocol). Compared with PoolODMRP, PDAODMRP has lower control overhead, lower data delivery delay, and lower data overhead.

This paper presents a new geographic distributed hash table (GDHT) for MANETs or Mesh networks, where virtual geographic protocol is used. In previous wort GDHT is applied to a network scenario based on two dimensional Cartesian coordinate system. Further, logical data space is supposed to be uniformly distributed. However, mobile node distribution in a network using virtual geographic routing is not matched to data distribution in GDHT. Therefore, if we apply previous GDHT to a virtual geographic routing network, lots of DHT data are probably located at boundary nodes of the network or specific nodes, resulting in long average-delay to discover resource (or service). Additionally, in BVR(Beacon Vector Routing) or LCR(Logical Coordinate Routing), because there is correlation between coordinate elements, we cannot use normal hash function. For this reason, we propose to use "geographic hash function" for GDHT that matches data distribution to node distribution and considers correlation between coordinate elements. We also show that the proposed scheme improves resource discovery efficiently.

In this paper, we present a cluster-based routing scheme for efficiently delivering data to group mobile users by extracting and clustering mobile user group simply from beacon message information in wireless ad-hoc networks. First, we propose an online-clustering mechanism that uses a local neighbor table on each node by recursively transmitting to neighbor nodes, and forms a group table where a set of listed nodes are classified as group members, without incurring much overhead. A node that appears the most frequently from neighbor tables throughout the network is selected as the cluster-head node, serving as a data gateway for the intra-cluster. Second, we design an inter-cluster routing that delivers data from stationary data sources to the selected cluster-head node, and a intra-cluster routing to deliver from the cluster-head node to users. Simulation results based on ns-2 in the ad-hoc networks consisting of 518 stationary nodes and 20 mobile nodes show that our proposed clustering mechanism achieves high clustering accuracy of 96 % on average. Regarding routing performance, our cluster-based routing scheme outperforms a naive one-to-one routing scheme without any clustering by reducing routing cost up to 1/20. Also, our intra-cluster routing utilizing a selected cluster-head node reduces routing cost in half as opposed to a counterpart of the intra-cluster routing through a randomly-selected internal group member.
Most of ubiquitous computing devices such as stereo camera, ultrasonic sensor based MIT cricket system and other wireless sensor network devices are widely applied to the 2 Dimensional(2D) localization system in today. Because stereo camera cannot estimate the optimal location between moving node and beacon node in Wireless Personal Area Network(WPAN) under Non Line Of Sight(NLOS) environment, it is a great weakness point to the design of the 2D localization system in indoor environment. But the conventional 2D triangulation scheme that is adapted to the MIT cricket system cannot estimate the 3 Dimensional(3D) coordinate values for estimation of the optimal location of the moving node generally. Therefore, the 3D triangulation scheme based on the space segmentation in WPAN is suggested in this paper. The measuring data in the suggested scheme by computer simulation is compared with that of the geographic measuring data in the AutoCAD software system. The average error of coordinates values(x,y,z) of the moving node is calculated to 0.008m by the suggested scheme. From the results, it can be seen that the location correctness of the suggested scheme is very excellent for using the localization system in WPAN.

In this paper, we introduce a testbed for testing the RF energy transfer technology in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment, and provide experimental results obtained by using the testbed. The IoT environment considered in this paper consists of a power beacon, which is able to wirelessly transfers energy via microwave, and multiple sensor nodes, which makes use of the energy received from the power beacon. We have implemented the testbed to experiment the RF energy transfer in such IoT environment. We have used off-the-shelf hardware components to build the testbed and have made the tesbed controlled by software so that various energy and data transmission protocol experiments can easily be conducted. We also provide experimental results and discuss the future research direction.

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) have shown a lot of good outcomes in providing a various functions depending on industrial expectations by deploying ad-hoc networking with helps of light loaded and battery powered sensor nodes. In particular, it is strongly requested to develop an algorithm of cross-layer control between 2-layer and 3-layer to deriver the sensing data from the end node to the sink node on time. In this paper, based on the above observation we have proposed an IEEE802.15.4 based self priority routing scheme under UC Berkely TinyOS platform. The proposed beacon based priority routing (BPR) algorithm scheme utilizes beacon periods in sending message with embedding the high priority data and thus provides high quality of service(QoS) in the given criteria. The performance measures are the packet Throughput, delivery, latency, total energy consumption. Simulation results under TinyOS Simulator(TOSSIM) have shown the proposed scheme outcome the conventional Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector(AODV) Routing.
The applications based on geographical location are increasing rapidly in wireless sensor networks (WSN). Recently, various localization algorithms have been proposed but the majority of algorithms rely on the specific hardware to measure the distance from the signal sources. In this paper, we propose the Weighted Multiple Rings Localization(WMRL). We assume that each deployed anchor node may periodically emit the successive beacon signals of the different power level. Then, the beacon signals form the concentric rings depending on their emitted power level, theoretically. The proposed algorithm defines the different weighting factor based on the ratio of each radius of ring. Also, If a sensor node may listen, it can find the innermost ring of the propagated signal for each anchor node. Based on this information, the location of a sensor node is derived by a weighted sum of coordinates of the surrounding anchor nodes. Our proposed algorithm is fully distributed and does not require any additional hardwares and the unreliable distance indications such as RSSI and LQI. Nevertheless, the simulation results show that the WMRL with two rings twice outperforms centroid algorithm. In the case of WMRL with three rings, the accuracy is approximately equal to WCL(Weighted Centroid Localization).
