The low birthrate and the need for national defense reform in Korea drive the Navy to develop efficient human resource planning such as a manpower forecasting model. However, to our knowledge, there is no study exploring the manpower forecasting model for naval ships in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to develop a model for forecasting manpower demand in naval ships. Data for analyses were drawn from 19 ships in the Korean Navy. Results indicate that mission type is significantly related to the number of manpower. Specifically, battleships need the more manpower than the battle support ships. The results also showed that the weight of hull structure-engine and the weight of the weapons system significantly increased the number of manpower. However, the weight of the combat system was not significant. In addition, whereas the automation level of hull structure-engine and the automation level of weapon system was found to be negatively related to the number of manpower, the automation level of combat system was positively related to it. The model developed here contributes to an advanced human resource planning of the Korean Navy. Implications, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed.
The live fire test has been playing a critical role in evaluating the goals-to-meet of the weapon systems which utilize the power of explosives. As such, the successful development of the test systems therein is quite important. The test systems development covers that of ranges and facilities including system-level key components such as mission control, instrumentation or observation, safety control, electric power, launch pad, and so on. In addition, proper operational guidelines are needed with well-trained test and operation personnel. The emerging weapon systems to be deployed in future battle field would thus have to be more precise and dynamic, smarter, thereby requiring more elaboration. Furthermore, the safety consideration is becoming more serious due to the ever-increasing power of explosives. In such a situation, development of live fire test systems seems to be challenging. The objective of the paper is on how to incorporate the safety and other requirements in the development. To achieve the goal, an architectural approach is adopted by utilizing both the system components relationship and safety requirement when advanced instrumentation technology needs to be developed and deteriorated components of the range are replaced. As an evaluation method, it is studied how the level of maturity of the test systems development can be assessed particularly with the safety requirement considered. Based on the concepts of both systems engineering and SoS (System-of-Systems) engineering process, an enhanced model for the system readiness level is proposed by incorporating safety. The maturity model proposed would be helpful in assessing the maturity of safety-critical systems development whereas the costing model would provide a guide on how the reasonable test resource allocation plan can be made, which is based on the live fire test scenario of future complex weapon systems such as SoS.
Background: The pandemic COVID-19 caused by a novel coronavirus SARS-COV-2 has spread like a forest fire. This disease may have serious consequences for pregnant women. Presently, no specific drugs or vaccines exist to battle this disease and researches are underway. Unani medicine has a unique role in prevention and management during epidemics. Here, we reviewed the overview of COVID-19 infection and pregnancy, concept and practices in Unani medicine for flu-like epidemics in general and pregnancy, and safety of Unani drugs for the prevention and treatment of mild symptomatic cases of COVID-19 during pregnancy. Methodology: Unani classical texts and pharmacopoeia were meticulously explored for concepts and practices for flu-like epidemic diseases. Further, we browsed scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus and others for an overview, epidemics and Unani medicine, effectiveness and safety of Unani drugs in COVID-19 and pregnancy. Results: Unani medicine includes prevention and management of flu-like epidemic include quarantine and isolation, aromatic herbal drugs fumigation and spraying for environmental disinfection, ilaj bid tadbir for health promotion and use of health-protecting drugs and symptom-specific drugs in general and related to pregnancy. Lahsun, asalussus, behidana, banafsha, zanjabeel, unnab, etc are in use since antiquity for the prevention and treatment of asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic pregnant women during infectious and epidemic diseases. Conclusion: Currently, the aforementioned plants are proven for antiviral, antioxidant, immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activities, probably useful in the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, scientific studies have provided new insight into the mechanism underlying the therapeutic effect of Unani medicines that are safe in pregnancy.

IoT, Cloud, Bigdata, Mobile, AI, and 3D print, which are called as the main axis of the 4th Industrial Revolution, can be predicted to be changed when the technology is applied to the military. Especially, when I think about the purpose of battle, I think that IoT, Cloud, Bigdata, Mobile, and AI will play many role. Therefore, in this paper, Smart Military is defined as the future military that incorporates these five technologies, and the architecture is established and the appropriate information security model is studied. For this purpose, we studied the existing literature related to IoT, Cloud, Bigdata, Mobile, and AI and found common elements and presented the architecture accordingly. The proposed architecture is divided into strategic information security and tactical information security in the Smart Military environment. In the case of vulnerability, the information security is divided into strategic information security and tactical information security. If a protection system is established, it is expected that the optimum information protection can be constructed within an effective budget range.
During the ground operation of Korean army, the voice message is mainly used for exchanging informations related to the surveillance and reconnaissance, command and control, and precision strike. However, in order to the battlefield visualization among fighting powers participating in the ground force operation, automatic situational awareness and variable message format (VMF) for command and control are required. For securing core technologies necessary for the battlefield visualization, message standard and message handler are established through several applied researches. Besides, the VMF for equipping a weapon system is in development. In this paper, a study on the Korean variable message format (KVMF), where interoperability of integrated battle management system (BMS) is guaranteed due to performing joint, ground, and combined operations so that the situation awareness and strike system can be automated in almost real time, is presented. From the modeling and simulation (M&S) results of the message processor, delay time is varied in accordance with the number of nodes in unit platoon network, message length, and generation interval of routine messages. Therefore, it is shown that the system performance can be optimized by establishing proper network protocol for each situation.
Army NCO roles and responsibilities in conjunction with the Defense Reform 2020 plan to perform a pivotal role in the bag the past tradition inherited bag and development, transition the mission commander helpers battle conductor, mainly functional experts, management experts from the bag to show PowerIt has a pivotal role as a transition. It embodies the director and the military organization of work within the scope of the statutes and rules, such as planning and implementation as the core of the Power which is most frontline officers, the NCO instructions and control through education and functional personnel to maintain the best Power will. Propose the measures that can be overcome by considering the importance of key personnel, operating personnel NCO in the military organization and analysis of the issues, the problem of the NCO system. The social awareness to be able to build a system to obtain a stable workforce through effective operations for changes in the revival, especially in the Department College of NCO activated mutual development challenges were present.
There are various problems in the process of developing the game. Especially, there is a lot of problems in testing the balance of the value of each object. This causes problems such as an increase in development cost and a delay in development time. Therefore, if there is a tool or simulator that can test the mutual value balance of each object in advance, this problem can be solved. However, currently there are few simulators, tools, and platforms that can analyze and evaluate the mutual value balance between these objects. In this paper, I designed a platform to evaluate and test the mutual value balance between these objects based on mock battle. The designed platform tests and evaluates the abilities of each object according to their attack and defense strengths. So, this reduces development costs and shortens development time.
This research has conducted high availability system modeling to assure the reliability of shipboard combat systems. Shipboard combat system is a way for efficient execution of duty and a crucial battlefield management system that determines the outcome of battle in the modern war. Especially in regard to a network-centric operational environment in the future, even 1% of malfunction can lead to fatal consequences for the outcome of war. So combat system should be designed by high availability system which is a "always-on" service. In this point of view, This work describes an architecture-based various high availability model and proposed alternative high available systems that can achieve more than 99.9999% accuracy at a minimum. This paper also provides an applicable model with which system engineers analyze out system failure and recovery process by employing computerized tools.
This study is intended to compare and analyze the figurative characteristics of game characters focusing on the MMO shooting game 'Battle Ground' and the MOVA game 'League of Legends,' which currently have the largest number of users in Korea, in order to assess how much effect the figurative shape of game characters has on the immersion of players. As a result, the shape of characters from MOVA or MMORPG games with storytelling as an important factor was revealed to have a greater effect on the immersion degree of players than that of the characters from fast-paced shooting games. In particular, it was found that in games where the level of each character is raised as items are added, the height of most characters is the same as their own eight or nine heads, which is longer than ordinary people.
Big data is expected to bring forth enormous public good as well as economic opportunity. However there is ongoing concern about privacy not only from public authorities but also from private enterprises. Big data is suspected to aggravate the existing privacy battle ground by introducing new types of privacy risks such as privacy risk of behavioral pattern. On the other hand, big data is asserted to become a new way to by-pass tradition behavioral tracking such as cookies, DPIs, finger printing${\cdots}$ and etc. For it is not based on a targeted person. This paper is to find out if big data could contribute to catching out behavioral patterns of consumers without threatening or damaging their privacy. The difference between traditional behavioral tracking and big data analysis from the perspective of privacy will be discerned.
