Sudden deafness requires immediate investigation and treat if there is to be any prospect of salvaging the hearing. It present an otological emergency and a diagnostic challenge. Sn Sudden sensorineural deafness can be caused by a wide variety of pathologies. A battery of tests and investigations must be performed forthwith if treatment is to be started without further delay. The concept that nothing can be done for the patient with sensori-neural deafness must be abandoned. Some pathologies causing sudden deafness are not amenable to therapy or can show only partial reversibility. But there are several causes, showing little or no spontaneous recovery, which do responed to appropriate treatment. It is important to identify them and concentrate on their management. The age and sex ratios and the unilaterral or bilateral nature of the lesion are related to the etiology and depend upon which type of case is included in the series. Though individually rare, collecting for about 2.5 per cent of new otoloical patients. Some 70 per cent of cases are unilateral. Viral, bacterial and treponemal infections accounted for about 30 per cent of the cases. Some 16 per cent were due to vascular lesions of the cochlea. In almost 22 per cent there was no obvious cause (idiopathic), they occurred in young adult and were either sensory or neural. About 12 per cent were traumatic and 9 per cent were ototoxic in origin. The remaining 11 per cent were due to a group of rarities. The two vital factors are the site of the lesion and the duration of the hearing loss. The earlier these are diagnosed and treated the better the response. The etiology, pathology and treatment are reviewed.

The revolution of industry 4.0 is enabling us to build an intelligent connection society called smart cities. The use of renewable energy in particular solar energy is extremely important for modern society due to the growing power demand in smart cities, but its difficult to monitor and manage in each buildings since need to be deploy low energy sensors and information need to be transfer via wireless sensor network (WSN). The Internet of Things (IoT) / low-power wide-area (LPWA) is an emerging WSN technology, to collect and monitor data about environmental and physical electrical / electronics devices conditions in real time. However, providing power to IoT sensor end devices and other public electrical loads such as street lights, etc is an important challenging role because the sensor are usually battery powered and have a limited life time. In this paper, we proposes an efficient solar energy-based power management scheme for smart city based on IoT technology using LoRa wide-area network (LoRaWAN). This approach facilitates to maintain and prevent errors of solar panel based energy systems. The proposed solution maximizing output the power generated from solar panels system to distribute the power to the load and the grid. In this paper, we proved the efficiency of the proposed system with Simulink based system modeling and real-time emulation.
In recent years, navigation aids, which plays as sea traffic lights, have been digitized, and are developing beyond simple sign purpose to provide various functions such as marine information collection, supervision, control, etc. For example, Busan Port which is located in South Korea is leading the application of the advanced technologies by installing cameras on buoys and recording video images to supervise maritime accidents. However, there are difficulties to perform their major functions since the advanced technologies require long-term battery operation and also management and maintenance of them are hampered by marine characteristics. This study proposes a system that can automatically notify maritime objects passing around buoys by analyzing image information. In the existing sensor-based accident prevention systems, the alarms are generated by a collision detection sensor. The system can identify the cause of the accident whilst even though it is difficult not possible to fundamentally prevent the accidents. Therefore, in order to overcome these limitations, the proposed a maritime object detection system is based on marine characteristics. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed system shows about 5 times faster processing speed than other existing algorithms.

The International Maritime Organization is establishing international agreements on maritime safety and security to prepare for the introduction of autonomous ships. In Korea, the industry is focusing on autonomous navigation system technology development, and to reduce accidents involving coastal ships, research on autonomous ship technology application plans for coastal ships is in progress. Interest in autonomously operated ships is increasing worldwide, and maritime demonstrations for verification of developed technologies are being pursued. In this study, a basic investigation was conducted on the design of a demonstration ship and an onshore platform (remote support center) using digital twin technology for application to coastal ships. To apply digital twin technology, an 8-m small battery-powered electric propulsion ship was selected as the target. The basic design of the twin-integrated platform was developed. The ship navigation and operation data were stored on a server system, and remote-control commands of the electric propulsion ship was achieved through communication between the ship and the onshore platform. Ship performance management, operation and operation optimization, and predictive control are possible using this digital twin technology. This safe and economical digital twin technology is applicable to ships responding to crisis scenarios.
To improve the performance of aluminum-air batteries, it is very important to understand the effect of electrolytes on the electrochemical properties of electrodes. In this study, the effects of electrolyte cations on the electrochemical redox reactions proceeding at the negative and positive electrodes were investigated using electrolytes having the same anion but different cations such as NaCl, LiCl, CaCl2, and ZnCl2. It was confirmed by discharge test, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis that electrolyte cations affect the discharge potential and specific capacity of the electrode. Precipitates were formed on the surface of the positive electrode by Ca2+ and Zn2+ ions, resulting in degradation of the performance of the positive electrode. In addition, Ca2+ ions passivated the negative electrode and accelerated the performance degradation. This suggests that the positive ions of the electrolyte have different effects on the electrochemical performance of the positive and negative electrodes.

The spinel-type oxide (Nix, Mny, Co3-x-y)O4 (NMC) is widely utilized as a material for temperature sensors with a negative temperature coefficient (NTC), finding applications across various industries including electric vehicle battery management systems. Typically, NMC is manufactured using solid-state reaction methods employing powders of Ni, Mn, and Co compounds, with the densification process through sintering recognized as a crucial factor determining the electrical properties of the temperature sensor material. In this study, NMC pellets were synthesized via solid-state reaction and their crystallographic and microstructural characteristics were investigated. Also, the activation energy for densification behavior during the sintering process was determined. According to the analysis results, the room temperature resistance of the NMC pellets was measured at 10.03 Kohm, with the sensitivity parameter, B-value, recorded at 3601.8 K, indicating their potential applicability as temperature sensors across various industrial fields. Furthermore, the activation energy for densification was found to be 273.3 ± 0.4 kJ/mol, providing valuable insights into the thermodynamic aspects of the sintering process of the NMC.

Many researchers have studied on the methods to improve the processor performance. However, high integrated semiconductor technology for improving the processor performance causes many problems such as battery life, high power density, hotspot, etc. Especially, as hotspot has critical impact on the reliability of chip, thermal problems should be considered together with performance and power consumption when designing high-performance processors. To alleviate the thermal problems of processors, there have been various researches. In the past, mechanical cooling methods have been used to control the temperature of processors. However, up-to-date microprocessors causes severe thermal problems, resulting in increased cooling cost. Therefore, recent studies have focused on architecture-level thermal-aware design techniques than mechanical cooling methods. Even though architecture-level thermal-aware design techniques are efficient for reducing the temperature of processors, they cause performance degradation inevitably. Therefore, if the mechanical cooling methods can manage the thermal problems of processors efficiently, the performance can be improved by reducing the performance degradation due to architecture-level thermal-aware design techniques such as dynamic thermal management. In this paper, we analyze the cooling efficiency of high-performance multicore processors according to mechanical cooling methods. According to our experiments using air cooler and liquid cooler, the liquid cooler consumes more power than the air cooler whereas it reduces the temperature more efficiently. Especially, the cost for reducing $1^{\circ}C$ is varied by the environments. Therefore, if the mechanical cooling methods can be used appropriately, the temperature of high-performance processors can be managed more efficiently.
