  • As appearance of high-quality service such as UDTV application, high-speed and high-capacity communication services are required. For this, communication systems increase the data processing speed and use various error correction techniques. In this paper, we implement the Viterbi decoder applied in 1000BASE-T with 4 pairs UTP cable. The minimum operating speed of the Viterbi decoer should be more than 125 MHz because 125 MHz PAM-5 signal is transmitted on each pair of cables in 1000BASE-T. To do this, we implement the decoder by using the pipeline and parallel processing and verify the operation with 125 MHz by using a logic analyzer. Finally, we will show that the decoder recovers the original data for the added random error data.

  • Two dimensional(2D) pair-photonic crystals (pair-PCs) have been fabricated by a multiple-exposure nanosphere lithography (MENSL) method using the self-assembled nanospheres as lens-mask patterns and the collimated laser beam as a multiple-exposing source. The arrays of the 2D pair-PCs exhibited variable lattice structures and shape the control of rotating angle (${\Theta}$), tilting angle (${\gamma}$) and the exposure conditions. In addition, the base period or filling factor of pair-PCs as well as their shapes could be changed by experimental conditions and nanosphere size. A 1.18-${\mu}m$-thick resist was spincoated on Si substrate and the multiple exposure was carried out at change of ${\gamma}$ and ${\Theta}$. Images of prepared 2D pair-PCs were observed by SEM. We believe that the MENSL method is a suitable useful tool to realize the pair-periodic arrays of large area.

  • The plasmid pJEL 101 contains a highly repetitive element from the genome of Xanthomonas oryae pv. oryzae that has properties of an insertional element. The insertional nature of the element, hereto referred to as IS203, was confirmed by molecular analyses of the element and three related elements that were isolated from X. oryzae. The related sequences were isolated on the basis of transposition to the transposon-trapping vector pL3SAC and hybridization with pJEL101. The trapped elements (IS203a, IS203b, and IS203c) were each composed of 1,055 base pairs with 25 base terminal inverted repeats. The elements caused a three base pair target site duplication at the site of insertion in the sacRB gene. The sequence of pJEL 101 has 96% base pair identity with IS203a and 99% identity with IS203a and IS203c but lacks three nucleotides of the consensus left terminal repeat. IS203b has the same DNA sequences as IS203c but is inserted ito the sacRB gene in the opposite orientation. The longest open reading frame of IS203a could code for a protein of 318 amino acids and molecular weight of 37, 151. A search of the Genbank database revealed that IS203 has 51% identity with 909 nucleotides of IS4551 from Escherichia coli. The predicted protein of ORF1 has 40% and 30% amino acid identity to the ORF1 of Tn4551 and the transposase of IS30, respectively.

  • As a wavelet transform which is presented as a new technique of signal processing field has time and frequency localization capabilities, it's possible for multiresolution analysis as well as easy to analyze various signal. So it is being applied in many fields recently. And when two wavelet base were designed to form Hilbert transform pair, wavelet pair show superior performance than the existing DWT(discrete wavelet transform) in data detection of pulse type. Therefore in this paper, we detected position of impulse noise by using two dyadic wavelet base which is designed by truncated coefficient vector.

  • The LAN method is the most widely used in domestic high-speed internet access and rapidly moving to 1 Gbps Ethernet from 100 Mbps one to provide high-speed services such as UHD TV. The 1000BASE-T PHY with 4 pairs UTP transmits a PAM-5 signal at the 125 MHz clock per each pair to achieve 1 Gbps rate. In order to correct errors over the channel, the transmitter uses a TCM which is combined the convolutional encoder and PAM-5, and the receiver uses the Viterbi decoder. In this paper, we implement a Viterbi decoder which can correct two pair errors and operate at the least 125 MHz clock speed. Finally, we will verify the error correction function and the operating speed of the implemented decoder with a logic analyzer.

  • As a society has progressed rapidly toward a highly advanced digital information age, a multimedia communication service for acquisition, transmission and storage of image data as well as voice has being commercialized externally and internally. However, in the process of digitalization or transmission of data, noise is generated by several causes, and researches for eliminating those noises have been continued until now. There were the existing FFT(fast fourier transform) and STFT(short time fourier transform) for removing noise but it's impossible to know information about time and time-frequency localization capabilities has conflictive relationship. Therefore, for overcoming these limits, wavelet transform which is presented as a new technique of signal processing field is being applied in many fields recently. Because it has time-frequency localization capabilities it's Possible for multiresolution analysis as well as easy to analyze various signal. And when two wavelet base were designed to form Hilbert transform pair, wavelet pair provide superior performance than the existing DWT(discrete wavelet transform) in data characteristic detection. Therefore in this parer, we removed impulse noise by using adaptive-length median filter and two dyadic wavelet base which is designed by truncated coefficient vector.

  • The aspects of Omega phase prediction are briefly reviewed, and Swanson's Model and Pierce's Model are presented. The equations for the Omega phase prediction and the most probable coefficients of the propagating equations are derived on the base of Pierce's Model by the least square method. The coefficients are calculated from the data which are the phase differences between the pairs of the Station A (Aldra, Norway), C(Haiku, Hawaii), and D(La Mour, North Dakota) observed at Busan Harbor of the South Coast of Korea in June and September, 1976. It is clearly shown that the standard deviations of the observed lane values at Busan Harbor are as followed: 1. June, 1976. Pair (A-C) : 0.1446 Pair (C-D) : 0.2598 2.September, 1976. Pair (A-D) : 0.3958 Pafr (C-D) : 0.3278 As a conclusion of the above investigation, it is shown that the Omega phase velocity can be predicted by the method, proposed in this paper, of analyzing the diurnal and seasonal variations of the Omege phase velocity except SID, PCD and AZD. If more observed data are employed, more exact Omega phase velocity is expected to be obtained.

  • The 58 rRNA gene from Sphingobium chungbukense DJ77 was identified. The secondary structure of the 199-base-long RNA was proposed. The two-base-long D loop was the shortest among all of the known 5S rRNAs. The U19-U64 non-canonical pair in the helix II region was uniquely found in strain DJ77 among all of the sphingomonads.

  • Experimental studies on drag reduction of a circular cylinder of diameter D were conducted in the subcritical flow regime at Reynolds numbers in the range $4{\times}10^4{\leq}Re{\leq}10^5$. To shield the cylinder rear surface from the pressure deficit of the unsteady vortex generation in the near wake, two shield plates were attached downstream of the separation points to form a cavity at the base region. The chord of the shield plates, L, ranged from 0.22 to 1.52 D and the cavity width, G, was in the range from 0 to 0.96 D. It is concluded that significant drag reductions from that of a plain cylinder may be achieved by proper sizing of the shield plates and the base cavity. The study shows that using a pair of shield plates at G/D of 0.86 and angular position ${\theta}$ of ${\pm}121^{\circ}$ results in a configuration with percentage drag reduction of 40% for L/D of 0.5, and 55% for L/D of 1.0.
