Banking Service Automation and Employment -Focused on the differences between Foreign-owned Banks and Local Banks- (은행 서비스 업무 자동화와 고용 -외국은행과 국내은행 비교를 중심으로-)

  • This paper analyzed the differences in the relationship between banking service automation and employment by bank ownership type. We found significant differences in the restructuring of the labor force and increasing banking service automation between foreign banks (owned by foreign capital) and local banks. Foreign banks showed the possibilities of reducing the regular labor force through the increase in banking service automation. However, banking service automation in local banks has reduced only the number of irregular employees but increased regular employees. This paper suggests new evidence on the differences between foreign and local banks in banking personnel management with the increase in banking service automation. This paper contributes to the preceding research areas of banking, business, and governance. In addition, this paper provides important insights on banking service automation, employment, and foreign banks for banking managers and policymakers.

  • Now a days the banks, with a wide spread of credit transaction practice in every business, offer better services to their customers, while the automation of banking is being made more rapid progress in th light of efficient banking service. For example, it is true that the automation of cash payment for customers goes on its progress and the competition between companies is getting more serious. Lately the banks that pursue "Banking Automation System" expand distribution of cash dispenser for the better electronic computer service and for the better service for their customers in quality. Therefore the makers producing "CD" accelerate their development of CD in various ways in order to secure M/S as the leading group of th field. CD, a kind of an automatic paying, is being used generally, and has various functions and its design is getting more compact than ever. Under this situation, I studied more trustworthy and convenient CD design suggestions in the way of case study on the basis of the process of developing CD and I suggest the better way of developing the design of CD in the future.

A study on types and performance of major retail banks automated service channel strategy (자동화기기를 이용한 국내 시중은행의 서비스 채널 전략의 유형 및 유효성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Recently banking industry is experiencing fundamental changes by advancement of information technology. The traditional role of branches is rapidly being replaced with new electronic service channels such as ATM. Phone and PC for they are time-saving and convenient. Automated service channel strategy of retail banks is divided into two different ways, automation and networking. Automation is mainly focused on cost reduction related to the branch operation, while networking is on expansion of customer contact points. Strategic types of banks can be defined from a matrix model shere the positioning is determined by the extent of automation and networking. The effectiveness of automated channel strategy depends on how separate strategic types show their performance. Results for deposits and productivity will be given to verify the economic performance of each strategic type.

  • Currently, the world's population has already entered a super-aging era, and the rate is expected to increase rapidly to about 40% by 2050. However, the rapid development of automation technology and the online service sector, the main technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, are still further isolating them in a world where many inconveniences and development technologies are applied. As such, alienation in daily life is widely expanded in various fields, but the financial service sector is one of the must-use areas regardless of age because of its strong nature in the public service sector, and is a very important factor in the period when branches are rapidly decreasing. However, the current utilization rate of mobile banking services is not around 5%, so users over 60 are rarely able to use them. The UX design of the most frequently used remittance service screen in mobile banking services was proposed, and the difficulty of trying to find the preferred bank among 56 or more banks was solved by analyzing the usage rate of each bank and dividing it into three stages by age group from 50 or older. In addition, it was designed to strengthen customized services by showing their recently used banks as the top priority. The design proposed in this study obtained an average of 4.8 points or more out of 5 points as a result of usability satisfaction through interviews with less than 50 senior groups. This study is believed to help each bank upgrade its different mobile banking designs in a unified manner.

A Protection Technique for Kernel Functions under the Windows Operating System (윈도우즈 운영체제 기반 커널 함수 보호 기법)

  • Recently the Microsoft Windows OS(operating system) is widely used for the internet banking, games etc. The kernel functions provided by the Windows OS can perform memory accesses, keyboard input/output inspection, and graphics output of any processes. Thus, many hacking programs utilizes those for memory hacking, keyboard hacking, and making illegal automation tools for game programs. Existing protection mechanisms make decisions for existence of hacking programs by inspecting some kernel data structures and the initial parts of kernel functions. In this paper, we point out drawbacks of existing methods and propose a new solution. Our method can remedy those by modifying the system service dispatcher code. If the dispatcher code is utilized by a hacking program, existing protection methods cannot detect illegal operations. Thus, we suggest that protection methods should investigate the modification of the dispatcher code as well as kernel data structures and the initial parts of kernel functions.
