  • In the basic GMSK, the modulated signals are generated by the preprocessing of NRZ pulse trains with the gaussian low pass filter. In this paper, we proposed the GMSK modulation system with the delta pulse trains. The proposed system constructed with the gaussian pulse generator triggered by the bipolar delta pulse, the differentiator between $+T_b/2$ and $-T_b/2$, and then a matched filter for frequency-modulation function. The spectrum of proposed system was found to be smaller than about 35[%] at 40[dB] attenuated bandwidth, and the center spectrum to be lower than the basic GMSK with zero-crossing property.

  • Simulation of sonar reverberation time series is very useful because most acoustic models are power level models and have a difficulty when performance of hardware system is evaluated under the reverberant condition. Thus, in this paper, the simulation of reverberation time series is attempted, First, normalized spectrum, whose bandwidth is varying in the frequency domain and which has zero-mean Gaussian distribution, is calculated at pre-selected receiving time. Second, reverberation levels given by underwater acoustic model are combined with normalized spectrum in the frequency domain. Finally, nonstationary sonar reverberation time series are simulated by IFT(Inverse Fourier Transform).

  • It is well known that there are two experimental errors on acoustic decay measurements. ,One is due to the influence of the band pass filter the other one is that of an averaging device. In this paper the influence of the filter is investigated in detail. To minimize the influence of the filter, the product of the filter bandwidth B (3dB bandwidth) and the reverberation time T/sub 60/ of the room under test should be at least 16. Moreover, if the initial part of an acoustic decay curve is important, the strong requirement, i. e. BT/sub 60/〉64, must be satisfied. In this paper, the wavelet filter bank instead of the band pass filter bank is applied to obtain an acoustic decay curve. As a result, the influence of filter is reduced and then the value of BT/sub 60/ required for obtaining an acceptable decay curve becomes at least 4. The strong requirement for the initial part of a decay curve is also replaced by the BT/sub 60/〉16 instead of BT/sub 60/〉64.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performances for FH/CPFSK system with limiter-discriminator detection and integrate-and-dump post-detection filtering under thermal noise and partial-band jamming noise. And,we considered intersymbol interference-related SNR and differential phase parameters for all eight of the possible adjacent bit data patterns, FM noise clicks for evaluating FH/CPFSK and CPFSK Systems. In result, the optimum modulation index h was 0.7 and the optimum value of bandwidth-time product D was 1.0 Next, when we considered the thermal noise under the partial-band jamming, the thermal noise significantly influenced the error probability of system below 20dB approximately but could ignore above 20dB.

  • We generate 10 GHz short pulses from a continuous wave laser at 1.5 um by cascaded intensity and phase modulation, followed by chirp compensation using a single mode fiber. The measured spectral and pulse widths are 0.64 nm and 5.7 ps respectively, resulting in the time-bandwidth product of 0.46.

  • We report the generation of inherently stable, high-speed, nearly transform-limited, optical pulses by chirped pulse compression, in which sinusoidally driven phase modulator generates frequency chirped pulses that are subsequently compressed by a dispersive optical fiber. Experimental results show that $sech^2$ shape pulses with a pulse width of ~14 ps and a time bandwidth product of ~0.34 are successfully generated at 10 GHz repetition rate. In contrast to other methods, such as higher order soliton compression, this approach does not depend on the optical power and thus shows promise for application to low-power lasers.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.

  • Recently, techniques involving head-mounted displays (HMDs) have attracted much attention from academia and industry owing to the increased demand for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. Because HMDs are positioned near to users' eyes, it is important to solve the accommodation-vergence conflict problem to prevent dizziness. Therefore, holography is considered ideal for implementing HMDs. However, within the Nyquist region, the accommodation effect is limited by the space-bandwidth-product of the signal, which is determined by the sampling number of spatial light modulators. In addition, information about the angular spectrum is duplicated over the Fourier domain, and it is necessary to filter out the redundancy. The size of the exit-pupil of the HMD is limited by the Nyquist sampling theory. We newly propose a holographic HMD with an expanded exit-pupil over the Nyquist region by using the time-multiplexing method, and the accommodation effect is enhanced. We realize time-multiplexing by synchronizing a high-speed digital micromirror device and a liquid-crystal shutter array. We also demonstrate the accommodation effect experimentally.

  • The transform limited optical short pulses are generated by compression of pulses from a gain switched distributed feedback laser at 5 GHz repetition rate. The gain-switched pulses have the minimum pulse width of 27 psec with the spectral width of 1.1 nm. Thus the output pulses have a large amount of linear chirp and nonlinear chirp. We suppress the nonlinear chirp by passing the pulses through the optical band pass filter with 3 dB band width of 0.55 nm which is narrower than spectral width of the input pulses and generate 7.1 psec pulses by compressing the output with the dispersion compensating fiber. The pulses have time-bandwidth product of 0.49 which is close to the transform limited gaussian pulse. These pulses can be utilized as optical sources in 40 Gbit/s time division multiplexed optical transmission system.

  • In order to improve the transmission performance of a chirp signal-based chirp spread spectrum system, the cross-correlation coefficient (CCC) should be carefully considered. In this paper, we derive the CCC for analyzing the transmission performance and propose the optimal chirp rate based on the analysis. The simulation results verify the mathematical derivations and show that the considered scheme can improve the performance by considering the CCC.
