  • In this paper, we have implemented the reflection type band-rejection filter by employing the 3-㏈ hybrid and the frequency-selective loads. The frequency-selective loads have been achieved with the 3-pole bandpass filter terminated by a 50-ohm load. The reflection type band-rejection filter is less sensitive to unloaded Q-factor of resonator than the conventional one. Measurements and simulations on the presented band-rejection filter in this paper show the excellent performances in passband and rejection-band.

  • In this paper, the use of a dual composite right/left-handed coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line is proposed for the design of a band rejection filter. The notch property of the filter is achieved by combining the convex signal line with the shorted concave meander line, and the equivalent circuit model is extracted from the geometry of the unit cell for organizing the band rejection property. Then the equivalent parameters of the unit cell are analyzed to identify those behaviors. And the dispersion characteristics and energy distributions are simulated. In the end, the band rejection filter is manufactured by cascading two proposed unit cells. We show that the measurement result for the resonant frequency demonstrates good agreement with the simulation result and the band rejection filter provides a rejection performance of 17.5 dB at the stopband frequency ranging from 869 MHz to 894 MHz.

  • In this paper, a CPW band-pass filter with a rejection band is proposed for UWB(Ultra-Wideband) communication systems. The proposed filter has a band-pass characteristic of wide-band by inserting only a slot in $50{\Omega}$ transmission line. To obtain the band-rejection function at WLAN frequency band($5.15{\sim}5.725GHz$), the designed filter is combined with folded slot resonators on the ground plane of the CPW structure. The fabricated CPW band-pass filter shows a compact size of $15.35{\times}13.60mm$, a wide passband of 2.8 GHz to 9.8 GHz and the narrow stop-band of 5.15 GHz to 5.71 GHz for 3-dB bandwidth. Also, the measured group delay is less than 400 psec throughout the operation frequency band except the rejection band.

  • A coaxial band rejection filter is designed and fabricated for a beam interacting cavity. The proposed filter has a quarter wavelength choke for the dominant mode of the cavity. The equivalent circuit of the coaxial band rejection filter is presented and the ABCD parameter os each part is derived to obtain the ABCD parameter of the entire filter. The scattering matrix was obtained from the ABCD matrix and the was simulated by MATLAB using the obtained scattering matrix. The coaxial band rejection filter structure was simulated using HFSS, and the results confirmed the simulation using the equivalent circuit was useful. The designed coaxial band rejection filter was fabricated with 6-1/8 flange. The fabricated filter was measured using a transition from 6-1/8 flange to N-type flange. The insertion loss of the fabricated filter is greater than 25 dB in the dominant mode of the cavity and less than 0.25 dB in the first higher order mode. The measurement results are in good agreement with the simulated results and meet the design specification.

  • In this paper, we demonstrate a fully integrated X-band image rejection down converter, which was developed using InGaP/GaAs HBT MMIC technology, consists of two single-balanced mixers, a differential buffer amplifier, a differential YCO, an LO quadratue generator, a three-stage polyphase filter, and a differential intermediate frequency(IF) amplifier. The X-band image rejection downconverter yields an image rejection ratio of over 25 dB, a conversion gain of over 2.5 dB, and an output-referred 1-dB compression power$(P_{1dB,OUT})$ of - 10 dBm. This downconverter achieves broadband image rejection characteristics over a frequency range of 1.1 GHz with a current consumption of 60 mA from a 3-V supply.

  • The design method of 85 GHz-115 GHz band single side-band filter using the principle of martin-puplett inteferometer is described. It has been designed by this method and also manufactured and tested. From the test results, not only the ratio of image singal rejection of 19 dB is obtained, but also the theoretical and experimental results of center frequency of pass-band and rejection-band show the validity of the theory. This manufactured filter was installed on 100GHz band SiS (superconductor insulator superconductor ) receiver for observing cosmic radio waves and tested. We found that this filter can be used a single side-band as well as double side-band mode. The design method which is presented in this paper can be used a single side-band filter for a heterodyne type sub-milimeter wave receiver.

  • A duplexer filter operating at 1.9 GHz band for personal communication system is designed and fabricated using $lambada$/4 TEM mode dielectric resonator. The transmitting band pass filter is designed in the type of the elliptic function band rejection filter by 3 dielectric resonators with 5 additional capacitors and 3 inductors. The receiving band pass filter is designed by 3 dielectric resonators with 5 additional capacitors which give additional series resonance. The parameters which are evaluated by design theory are practically applied to the duplexer filter construction and the simulation.

  • This paper presents a simple and effective method for improving stopband rejection characteristics of previously studied dual-band filters. Small electric couplings were applied to the symmetrically positioned shunt resonators, which divided each transmission zero into two transmission zeros without any effect on passbands. We were able to achieve improved stopband rejection characteristics by these additional transmission zeros. For the filter application, we designed a dual-band filter with improved stopband characteristics using microstrip quasi-lumped elements. The electric couplings that control the location of transmission zeros are controlled by the distance between symmetric open stubs of the filter. The filter was fabricated with a relative dielectric constant of 3.5 and a thickness of 0.76 mm. The fabricated filter has a small size ($14.6{\times}13.2{\times}0.76$ mm) and a low insertion loss when compared with conventional filters.

  • A novel lowpass filter with a very sharp transition band and wide stopband is proposed. The proposed filter is based on T-shaped patches which are etched in symmetrical structures and folded open stub. To obtain a wide stopband, we have used stub loaded semi-circle stepped-impedance structures. By designing the resonator with high inductance and capacitance, a very sharp transition band is achieved. The proposed filter has a 3-dB cutoff frequency at 2.37 GHz and a 40-dB rejection at 2.44 GHz. The stopband with an attenuation level better than -13.2 dB is up from 2.4 GHz to 16 GHz, and consequently we have reached the high and wide rejection in stopband with compact size. Good agreements between the simulated and the measured results are presented.

  • This paper presents a compact, low insertion loss, sharp rejection and wide band microstrip band pass filter that is composed rectangular loop resonator and step-impedance-open-stub(SIOS) for wireless data communication. The SIOS can be reduce length about 30% more than general $0.25{\lambda}$ stub. And the stub can the advantage of tuning impedance magnitude. In order to demonstrate agrement of this paper prove, the optimized wide band pass filters are realized and experimented. A transmission line model used to calculate the frequency response of the new filters shows good agreement with measurements. The filter has 3dB fractional bandwith of 52.5%(3.267GHz), an insertion loss of better than 0.33dB from 4.587GHz to 7.854GHz, and two rejection of greater than 30dB within 221MHz$(4.366GHz{\sim}4.587GHz)$ at low frequency band, 181MHz$(7.854GHz{\sim}8.035GHz)$ at high frequency band. Maximum rejection characteristics of the filter are -54dB at low frequency and -60dB at high frequency.
