This paper presents a set of candidate regulatory requirements for TV band devices (TVBDs) in the Rep. of Korea. To guarantee the protection of incumbent services, especially digital TV (DTV) and wireless microphones, in TV frequency bands, we suggest minimum separation distances of TVBDs from the noise-limited contour according to incumbent users and TVBD types. This paper also deals with multiple sets of separation distances of a co-channel TVBD network from a DTV protected contour on the basis of the radio propagation characteristics of different geographic areas to make good use of TV white space (TVWS) and safely protect the DTV service. We present a low-power transmission mode of TVBDs and the relevant separation distances for small-cell deployment. The service coverage reduction ratio of a TVBD network is investigated in the presence of DTV interference in four geographic areas. The TVWS field verification results, conducted on the island of Jeju (Rep. of Korea), show that incumbent services operate well without harmful interference from neighboring TVBDs with the proposed separation distances.

The shock separation test simulates the environmental effects of the spacecraft separation from launch vehicle. The shock separation test for a structural model of KOMPSAT-Ⅱ(Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite Ⅱ) was performed in SITC(Satellite Integration & Test Center) launch environmental test hall at KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) to verify the shock test requirement of the spacecraft, to predict the induced acceleration responses on the primary structures and payloads by the explosion of pyre-lock and to perform mechanical fit check. The spacecraft with S/A was mated vertically to LV(Launch Vehicle) adapter simulator via a clamp band, then hoisted and suspended above a foam test bed by four isolation springs secured to the spacecraft hoist fittings to isolate the payload platform shock wave from the sling elements. For separation process, real pyre-devices were used and the time response signals from 60 accelerometers installed on the interested points was acquired and recorded. The SRS responses for each response channels were calculated and the achieved SRS's on the separation plane was reviewed and evaluated in comparison to the ICD(Interface Control Document) value.
The existing in-band interference reduction method recommends the physical separation distance between wireless devices and interference signals, and the interference can be suppressed through the separation distance. If the in-band interference signals can be reduced in a wireless device, a margin can be given to the physical separation distance. Since there is an effect of extending the receiver dynamic range of receivers, it is highly useful for interference reduction and improvement method. In this paper, the structure of an in-band analog IRM(Interference Reduction Module) is proposed and the design and implementation of the proposed analog IRM are described. To design an analog IRM, the interference reduction performance according to the delay mismatch, phase error and the number of delay lines that affect the performance of the analog IRM was simulated. The proposed analog IRM composed of 16 delay lines was implemented and the implemented IRM has the interference reduction performance of about 10dB for a 5G(NR-FR1-TM-1.1) signal having a 40MHz bandwidth at a center frequency of 3.32GHz. The analog IRM proposed in this paper can be used as an in-band interference canceller.
We have studied the phase separation and ordering phenomeon of InAlAs epilayers grown on InP substrate by LP-MOCVD with DCXRD, PL, and TEM. From the intensity and FWHM of DCXRD and PL, we observed that the structural and optical quality of InAlAs epilayers were improved as growth temperature increased. The band-gap reduction due to phase separation and ordering is 291, 246, and 28 meV in the InAlAs epilayers grown at $565^{\circ}C$, $615^{\circ}C$, and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively, and shows the same from the InAlAs epilayer town at 5$65^{\circ}C$ in which the HRTEM micrograph showed the lattice fringe between InAs-rich and AlAs-rich regions was tilted by $2^{\circ}$ due to composition difference. However the maximum degree of ordering by intensity of extra spots was obtained at medium growth temperature. The annealing experiment by RTA of sample grown at $565^{\circ}$ shows a maximum band-gap shift of 78eV at $880^{\circ}$ for 3 min, and TEM shows that the origin of the blue shift of band-gap is the complete disappearance of ordering. Through annealing we can conclude that short time annealing affects only ordering and that most of the total band-gap reduction (~3/4) occurs by phase separation.

In this paper, we present the compatibility study results including the frequency sharing criteria between new allocation to maritime mobile satellite service and Earth exploration satellite service in the 7/8 GHz. The transmitting Earths station of MMSS in the 8025 - 8400 MHz band would make harmful interference to the receiving Earth station of EESS operating in the same frequency band. In order to ensure the compatibility with EESS, the separation distance is provided as a frequency sharing criteria. The republic of Korea has a plan to launch the geostationary satellite around 2017 and EESS Earth station will be operated in 8025 - 8400 MHz band. Therefore, we calculate the interference levels and separation distance using the system parameters of two Earth station systems. As results of the study, the separation distances for LOS path and Non-LOS path due to the geographical characteristics are shown around 471 km and 200 km, respectively.
In this paper, we study the coexistence of typical radio access technologies (WiMAX, CDMA, WLAN) in heterogeneous networks. Although the radio accesses employ different frequency band, they can interfere with each other due to out-of- band emission. We compute the minimum adjacent channel interference ratio (ACIR) to satisfy the allowable level of interference, and the resulting minimum frequency separation (guard band) between interfering and victim system. We observe that WiMAX-WLAN coexistence and WiMAX-CDMA coexistence are feasible with at least 20 MHz and 15 MHz guard bands, respectively.

It has recently been noticed that the headway of unlicensed wireless technology is necessary as user's demands of wireless tech increase and the development of high-speed data service by using low-power short-range wireless network is needed. Hence, it is inevitable to study sharing and coexistence for broadband spectrum of diverse unlicensed application with wide bandwidth. In this paper, an interference examination between unlicensed WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) in the 6GHz and OB (Outside Broadcasting) system which is an incumbent service in the same frequency band was conducted and it suggests separation distance for the coexistence. Thus, MCL (Minimum Coupling Loss) and MC (Monte Carlo) methods were used to set up interference scenarios for the interference analysis and compute the separation distance between two systems according to the same frequency band and frequency separation.

We propose a new algorithm for blind source separation (BSS), in which frequency-domain independent component analysis (FDICA) and time-domain ICA (TDICA) are combined to achieve a superior source-separation performance under reverberant conditions. Generally speaking, conventional TDICA fails to separate source signals under heavily reverberant conditions because of the low convergence in the iterative learning of the inverse of the mixing system. On the other hand, the separation performance of conventional FDICA also degrades significantly because the independence assumption of narrow-band signals collapses when the number of subbands increases. In the proposed method, the separated signals of FDICA are regarded as the input signals for TDICA, and we can remove the residual crosstalk components of FDICA by using TDICA. The experimental results obtained under the reverberant condition reveal that the separation performance of the proposed method is superior to that of conventional ICA-based BSS methods.
In order to develop a Korea Positioning System (KPS) as part of key national infrastructure, independent navigation signal design is essential. The designed signal candidates must coexist with existing or planned GNSS signals within the limited frequency band. This requires a RF compatibility assessment, which can be performed using the Spectral Separation Coefficient (SSC) and Effective Carrier to Noise Density Ratio (Effective C/N0), for navigation signals. Thus, in this paper, the analysis of RF compatibility between the designed signal candidates and the existing GNSS signals is carried out based on analytical and numerical techniques.
Although there have been lack of studies using X-band SAR data particularly for forestry application as compared to C-, and L-band SAR data, it has a potential to distinguish tree species because most signals are backscattered on the top of canopy. This study aimed to compare signal characteristics of multi-band SAR data including X-band for classifying tree species. The data used for the study are SIR-C/X-SAR data (X-, C-, L-band) obtained on Oct. 3, 1994 over the forest area near Seoul, S. Korea. Thirty ground sample plots were collected per each tree species. Initial comparison of backscattering coefficients among three SAR bands shows that X-band data showed better separation of tree species than C- and L-band SAR data irrespective of polarization. The weak penetrating in canopy layer might be possible source of information for X-band data to be useful for the classification of forest species and cover type mapping.
