압전트랜스포머를 이용한 28W 형광등 안정기의 전기적 특성 (Electrical characteristics of 28W fluorescent lamp ballast using piezoelectric transformer)

  • In this study, contour vibration mode piezoelectric transformer with size of 27.5${\times}$27.5${\times}$2.6mm$^3$ using PNW-PMN-PZT ceramic was fabricated. And the piezoelectric transformer was adopted to fluorescent lamp ballast circuit. Electrical characteristics of the piezoelectric transformer were investigated for fluorescent lamp ballast application. The electrical properties and characteristic temperature rise were measured using oscilloscope and infrared temperature sensor. A 28W fluorescent lamp was successfully driven by the fabricated ballast circuit. After driving the lamp using ballast circuit for 24 min, the output power, efficiency and characteristic temperature rise of piezoelectric transformer showed the appropriate values of 28.85[W], 86.3[%] and 15[$^{\circ}C$], respectively.

  • This paper proposed methods of filament preheating to extend a fluorescent lamp life. The ballast for the fluorescent lamp can be classified into two main groups magnetics and electronics. The electronic ballast is lighter and smaller than the magnetic ballast and it can dim up and down. There are two ways to start the fluorescent lamp in the electronic ballast: rapid start and instant start. Also there are two methods of the driving inverter self excited oscillation and force excited oscillation. The rapid starting is different from the instant starting in that the rapid start is preheating the filament before the steady state. If there is a preheating process before the lamp ignition, the life of the fluorescent lamp can be increased. This paper presented the preheating methods for self excited oscillating system and force excited oscillating system.

  • In this paper, it has been proposed the simultaneous control of PFC (power factor corrector) and electronic ballast for fluorescent lamp by one chip micro-controller. Boost DC-DC converter is adopted for PFC, and half bridge inverter for electronic ballast. It controls, simultaneously and independently, the boost DC-DC converter and the half bridge inverter. As PFC and electronic ballast are controlled by one chip micro-controller, it is possible to achieve the simpler and the cheaper controller for fluorescent lamp. Experimental results have shown the feasibility of the proposed simultaneous control of PFC and electronic ballast by one chip micro-controller.

  • Fluorescent lamp operated at high frequency by the electronic ballast provide ballasts like unnoticed flicker effect and higher luminous efficiency. This paper presents analysis of Half-Bridge type resonant inverter for Fluorescent lamp drive for stable characteristic and life improvement of lamp operated at high frequency. Also, it has described an electronic ballast design with the capability of high PF (Power Factor) and low THD (Total Harmonic Distortion). The validity of designed electronic ballast circuit is confirmed by simulation and experimental results. The Designed electronic ballast is implemented successfully on 32W Fluorescent lamp system.

  • In this paper, we reported an outbreak of fire hazard of ballast for fluorescent lamp. The surface structure and composition of ballast coil analyzed by using metallurgical microscope, scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX). The surface of molten mark appeared columnar structure and void. EDX analysis indicated that the molten mark spectra were composed not only of the corresponding original spectra but also of several new lines.

  • The piezoelectric transformer (PT) is an electro-mechanical device that transfers electrical energy through a mechanical vibration. In this paper, a PT operating in the contour vibration mode is introduced for an application of fluorescent lamp ballast. Utilizing its inherent characteristics of the LC resonator and a high voltage gain to ignite the lamp in light load condition, an investigation of a power piezoelectric transformer as a potential component for a fluorescent lamp ballast is discussed. PT is easy to be produced in mass and reduces the cost of the ballast. The modified equivalent circuit model of the PT considering the operating current level is derived to design the fluorescent lamp ballast. This model describes the voltage gain of the PT in wide load variations and various input current levels. The experimental and simulation results are provided to verify theoretical analysis. The power capacity of the currently developed PT is relatively low (15W), but it can be increased by adopting a multi-layer structure and is currently under investigation. It is also possible to parallel the PT for higher power processing.

  • This paper presents a new approach in the design of an electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps in the range of 10∼20W. The central point of the design lies in the equivalent concepts for a lamp and for the inverter part of an electronic ballast. The ballast, which adopts half-bridge inverter topology, is designed to adjust ifself to a predefined range of lamp power output by frequency control using MCU. At first, the circuit parameters were estimated using PSpice simulatio, and then were made varied according to the selection of an optimal frequency for each lamp. A series of experiments using fluorescent lamps of 11W, 15W, and 20W were carried out to verify the proposed design. As a result of the experiments, all the three lamps of different kind were run normally with the same ballast under consideration, And the characteristics on lamp starting and light output were satisfactory compared to existen single-output electronic ballasts.

  • In driving for the electronic ballast lamp which higher quality and performance according to it's frequency which can be critically in Fluorescent Lamp in reliability to the external oscillation electronic ballast module. For the Fluorescent Lamp I cheesed the high frequency T5 lamp that is outstanding in the EU market.

  • We have develped the electronic ballast for 32watt/1 fluorescent lamp. in this research. the circuit is analyzed by the P-spice program and designed to match the ballast with the fluresecnt lamp characteristics. The power factor correction circuit has been designed with all passive elements and then achived the slim-line type ballast.

  • 형광램프를 오랜 기간 사용하게 되면 전극에서 열 전자 방출을 돕는 보조 물질이 램프 외벽으로 흡수되어 램프 점등 조건 및 정상 상태 조건이 변화하게 된다. 이러한 경우를 오랜 시간 방치한다면 램프 전극에서 과도한 열이 발생하게 되어 등 기구 소켓을 녹이는 안전사고가 발생할 가능성이 크다. 본 논문은 형광램프 수명 말기에 나타나는 현상(정류 효과)을 검출하고, 이로부터 안정기를 보호하기 위한 방법을 제시하였다.
