An effective balancing method for mil compressors is developed based on vibration plane model. By assuming the design range of balancer size is not large and considering only the radial axial direction rigid vibration of the mil compressors, we can find the vibration plane (V-plane) describing the vibration level of the scroll compressor depending upon balancer design specifications. By in the intersection of two minimum lines (areas) obtained from the couple of V-Planes we can find the design lesion to minimize vibration level of the compressor. The full design process is described by using an illustrative example with upper and lower balancer weights. Further more sensitivity analysis of parameters important for designation of size and positioning of the balancer is analyzed.
This paper outlines the processes and strategies studied and selected by the team during the design stages of the project for the incorporation of BIPV into the tower's façade. The goal was to create a system that helps reduce internal heating and cooling loads while collecting energy through photovoltaic panels located throughout the building. The process used to develop this façade system can be broken down into three stages. 1. Concept: BIPV as design catalyst for a high-rise building. 2. Optimization: Balancing BIPV and Human comfort. 3. Integration: Incorporating BIPV into a custom curtain wall design. The FKI Project clearly illustrates the evolution building enclosures from simple wall systems to high performance integrated architectural and engineering design solutions. This design process and execution of this project represent the design philosophy of our firm.

Considering the natural phenomenon in which steep slopes ($65^{\circ}{\sim}85^{\circ}$) consisting of rock mass remain stable for decades, slopes steeper than 1:0.5 (the standard of slope angle for blast rock) may be applied in geotechnical conditions which are similar to those above at the design and initial construction stages. In the process of analysing the stability of a good to fair continuum rock slope that can be designed as a steep slope, a general method of estimating rock mass strength properties from design practice perspective was required. Practical and genealized engineering methods of determining the properties of a rock mass are important for a good continuum rock slope that can be designed as a steep slope. The Genealized Hoek-Brown (H-B) failure criterion and GSI (Geological Strength Index), which were revised and supplemented by Hoek et al. (2002), were assessed as rock mass characterization systems fully taking into account the effects of discontinuities, and were widely utilized as a method for calculating equivalent Mohr-Coulomb shear strength (balancing the areas) according to stress changes. The concept of calculating equivalent M-C shear strength according to the change of confining stress range was proposed, and on a slope, the equivalent shear strength changes sensitively with changes in the maximum confining stress (${{\sigma}^{\prime}}_{3max}$ or normal stress), making it difficult to use it in practical design. In this study, the method of estimating the strength properties (an iso-angle division method) that can be applied universally within the maximum confining stress range for a good to fair continuum rock mass slope is proposed by applying the H-B failure criterion. In order to assess the validity and applicability of the proposed method of estimating the shear strength (A), the rock slope, which is a study object, was selected as the type of rock (igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary) on the steep slope near the existing working design site. It is compared and analyzed with the equivalent M-C shear strength (balancing the areas) proposed by Hoek. The equivalent M-C shear strength of the balancing the areas method and iso-angle division method was estimated using the RocLab program (geotechnical properties calculation software based on the H-B failure criterion (2002)) by using the basic data of the laboratory rock triaxial compression test at the existing working design site and the face mapping of discontinuities on the rock slope of study area. The calculated equivalent M-C shear strength of the balancing the areas method was interlinked to show very large or small cohesion and internal friction angles (generally, greater than $45^{\circ}$). The equivalent M-C shear strength of the iso-angle division is in-between the equivalent M-C shear properties of the balancing the areas, and the internal friction angles show a range of $30^{\circ}$ to $42^{\circ}$. We compared and analyzed the shear strength (A) of the iso-angle division method at the study area with the shear strength (B) of the existing working design site with similar or the same grade RMR each other. The application of the proposed iso-angle division method was indirectly evaluated through the results of the stability analysis (limit equilibrium analysis and finite element analysis) applied with these the strength properties. The difference between A and B of the shear strength is about 10%. LEM results (in wet condition) showed that Fs (A) = 14.08~58.22 (average 32.9) and Fs (B) = 18.39~60.04 (average 32.2), which were similar in accordance with the same rock types. As a result of FEM, displacement (A) = 0.13~0.65 mm (average 0.27 mm) and displacement (B) = 0.14~1.07 mm (average 0.37 mm). Using the GSI and Hoek-Brown failure criterion, the significant result could be identified in the application evaluation. Therefore, the strength properties of rock mass estimated by the iso-angle division method could be applied with practical shear strength.
The 3-way balanced multi-level rotation design has been discussed (Park Kim and Kim, 2003), where the 3-way balancing is done on interview time, in monthly sample and rotation group and recall time. A greater advantage of 3-way balanced design is accomplished by an estimator. To obtain the advantage, we generalized previous generalized composite estimator (GCE). We call this as l-step GCE. The variance of the l-step GCE's of various characteristics of interest are presented. Also, we provide the coefficients which minimize the variance of the l-step GCE. Minimizing a weighted sum of variances of all concerned estimators of interest, we drive one set of the compromise coefficient of l-step GCE's to preserve additivity of estimates.
Promotion of a closed-loop supply chain requires disassembly systems that recycle end-of-life (EOL) assembled products. To operate the recycling disassembly system, parts selection is environmentally and economically carried out with non-destructive or destructive disassembly, and the recycling rate of the whole EOL product is determined. As the number of disassembled parts increases, the recycling rate basically increases. However, the labor cost also increases and brings lower profit, which is the difference between the recovered material prices and the disassembly costs. On the other hand, since the precedence relationships among disassembly tasks of the product also change with the parts selections, it is also required to optimize allocation of the tasks in designing a disassembly line. In addition, because information is required for such a design, the recycling rate, profit of each part and disassembly task times take precedence among the disassembly tasks. However, it is difficult to obtain that information in advance before collecting the actual EOL product. This study proposes and analyzes an optimal disassembly system design using integer programming with the environmental and economic parts selection (Igarashi et al., 2013), which harmonizes the recycling rate and profit using recyclability evaluation method (REM) developed by Hitachi, Ltd. The first stage involves optimization of environmental and economic parts selection with integer programming with ${\varepsilon}$ constraint, and the second stage involves optimization of the line balancing with integer programming in terms of minimizing the number of stations. The first and second stages are generally and mathematically formulized, and the relationships between them are analyzed in the cases of cell phones, computers and cleaners.

This paper proposes embedded System of two wheeled inverted pendulum robot designed by model based design method, using MATLAB/SIMULINK and LEGO NXT Mindstorms. At first, stability and performance of controller is verified through modeling and simulation. After that direct conversion from simulation model to C code is carried and effectiveness of controller is experimentally verified. Two wheeled inverted pendulum robot has basic function about autonomous balancing control using principle of inverted pedulum and it is also possible to arrive at destination. In this paper, state feedback controller designed by quadratic optimal control method is used. And quadratic optimal control uses state feedback control gain K to minimize performance index function J. Because it is easy to find gain, this control method can be used in the controller of two wheeled inverted pendulum robot. This proposed robot system is experimentally verified with following performances - balancing control, disturbance rejection, remote control, line following and obstacle avoidance.

In a link motion punch press, numerous links are interconnected and each link executes a constrained motion at high speed. As a consequence, dynamic unbalance force and moment are transmitted to the main frame of the press, which results in unwanted vibration. This degrades productivity and precise stamping work of the press. This paper presents an effective method for reducing dynamic unbalance in a link motion punch press based upon kinematic and dynamic analyses. Firstly, the kinematic analysis is carried out in order to understand the fundamental characteristics of the link motion mechanism. Then design variable approach is presented in order to automate the model setup for the mechanism whenever design changes are necessary. To obtain the inertia properties of the links such as mass, mass moment of inertia, and the center of mass, 3-dimensional CAD software was utilized. Dynamic simulations were carried out for various combinations of design changes on some links having significant influences on kinematic and dynamic behavior of the mechanism.
The Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) is particularly attractive for medium and high power applications such as High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems. In order to reach a high voltage, the number of cascaded submodules (SMs) is generally very large. Thus, in the applications with hundreds or even thousands of SMs such as MMC-HVDCs, the sorting algorithm of the conventional voltage balancing strategy is extremely slow. This complicates the controller design and increases the hardware cost tremendously. This paper presents a Two-Way Merge Sort (TWMS) strategy based on the prediction of the capacitor voltages under ideal conditions. It also proposes an innovative Insertion Sort Correction for the TWMS (ISC-TWMS) to solve issues in practical engineering under non-ideal conditions. The proposed sorting methods are combined with the features of the MMC-HVDC control strategy, which significantly accelerates the sorting process and reduces the implementation efforts. In comparison with the commonly used quicksort algorithm, it saves at least two-thirds of the sorting execution time in one arm with 100 SMs, and saves more with a higher number of SMs. A 501-level MMC-HVDC simulation model in PSCAD/EMTDC has been built to verify the validity of the proposed strategies. The fast speed and high efficiency of the algorithms are demonstrated by experiments with a DSP controller (TMS320F28335).
This study conducted Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB), which is a type of field performance evaluation experiment of a zone smoke-control system, at a railway underground transit passage installed with a zone smoke- control system to find problems and improvements for ensuring performance. TAB for the smoke control system was classified into several procedures, such as design data review, duct leakage test, field measurement of the airflow rate, velocity of the fan and duct, and a smoke test. Through the duct leakage test, the system leakage ratio was examined to prove the duct sealing. The iImprovement of the smoke control airflow problems due to the lack of fan static pressure loss was the secured performance. The performance of the smoke control fan was secured by improvements of the smoke control airflow rate problems caused by the loss of static pressure in the intake duct. The smoke test in the smoke control zone confirmed that the damper operating schedule subject was influenced by natural wind or train wind.
Hybrid query processing method is used for preventing server overload that is created by heavy user connection in Web GIS. In Hybrid query processing method, both server and client participate in spatial query processing. But, Hybrid query processing method is restricted in scalability of server and it can't be fundamentally solution for server overload. So, it is necessary for Web GIS to be brought in web clustering technique. In this thesis, we propose load-balancing method that uses proximity of query region. In this paper, we create tile groups that have relation each tile in same group is very close, and forward client request to the server that can have maximum rate of buffer reuse with considering characteristic of spatial query. With out load balancing method, buffet in server is optimized for exploring spatial index tree and increase rate of buffer reuse, so it can be reduced amount of disk access and increase system performance.
