  • In the multi-phase interleaved converter with peak current mode control, current imbalance is measured when inductors of converter module are not exactly identical. In this paper current-sharing controller is proposed to balance phase current of converter modules. It also is designed to have good transient response. Proposed method implemented the 2-phase and 4-phase interleaved boost converter with imbalanced inductance. Experimental results verify the performance of Current share during the transient state of converter.

  • The emergence of high voltage conversion applications has resulted in a trend of using semiconductor device series associations. Series associations allow for operation at blocking voltages, which are higher than the nominal voltage for each of the semiconductor devices. The main challenge with these topologies is finding a way to guarantee the voltage balance between devices in both blocking and switching transients. Most of the methods that have been proposed to mitigate static and dynamic voltage unbalances result in increased losses within the device. This paper introduces a new series stack topology, where the voltage unbalances are reduced. This in turn, mitigates the switching losses. The proposed topology consists of a circuit that ensures the soft switching of each device, and one auxiliary circuit that allows for switching energy recovery. The principle for the topology operation is presented and experimental tests are performed for two modules. The topology performs excellently for switching transients on each of the devices. The voltage static unbalances were limited to 10%, while the activation/deactivation delay introduced by the lower module IGBT driver takes place in the dynamic unbalances. Thus, the switching losses are reduced by 40%, when compared to hard switching configurations.

  • In order to positively cope with the international environmental regulations like UNFCCC (UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) and to overcome energy crisis Korea, who depends on import for more than 97% of required energy, needs to continuously proceed to development, spread and expansion of alternativeenergy and then, to cultivate the capacity to keep the balance of demand and supply of energy by itself. In this aspect, the technology of BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) is the field that the world is most interested in. However, at present, this technology is centered on increasing the efficiency of the module itself so it has lots of problems to be applied to buildings. Application of the integrated PV system in building external curtain wall can obtain much more generation of electric power than in roof-types whose area for installation is restricted, so it is excellent in terms of its possibility of application. Therefore, this paper intends to advance its practical use by proposing how to get integrated PV system which can be applied to building external curtain wall, and how to apply it.

  • Vehicle manufacturing plant is a typical mixed-model production system. Generally it consists of three main shops including body shop, painting shop and assembly shop in addition to engine shop. Each shop contains diverse manufacturing processes, all of which are integrated in a form of flow line. Due to the high pressure from the market requesting small-volume large variety production, production planning becomes very critical for the competitiveness of automotive industry. In order to save costs and production time, production planning system is requested to meet some designated requirements for each shop: to balance the work load in body and assembly shops, and to minimize the number of color changes in painting shop. In this context, we developed a sequencing module for a vehicle production planning system using the ILOG Solver Library. It is designed to take into account all the manufacturing constraints at a time with meeting hard constraints in body shop, minimizing the number of soft constraints violated in assembly shop, and minimizing the number of color changes in painting shop.

  • Experimental and theoretical studies on cooling performance of two-channel thermoelectric air-cooling system in parallel flow are conducted. The effects of operating temperature to physical properties of thermoelectric module (TEM) are experimentally examined and used in the analysis of an air-cooling system considering thermal network and energy balance. The theoretical predicted temperature variation and cooling capacity are in good agreement with measured data, thereby validating analytic model. The heat absorbed rate increases with increasing the voltage input and decreasing thermal resistance of the system. The power consumption of TEM is linearly proportional to mean temperature differences due to variations of the physical properties on operation temperature of TEM. Furthermore thermal resistance of hot side has greater effects on cooling performance than that of cold side.

  • CPV system in the desert areas or areas near the equator, as is suitable for high-temperature region. As compared to silicon solar cells, CPV system have a high proportion of a BOS (balance of system). Solar cells because of its low proportion when designing a module technology is applied in a variety of ways. Applied to the CPV system is classified into two kinds of optical technology. One of those using fresnel lens uses refraction of light energy. The other is a mirror reflection of the structure using sprays. Both of these two ways to condense the sun to collect solar cell is a form of light. And goals by using a small solar cell materials is to produce more energy. This research proposes rational design approach to calculate proper system capacity in consideration of the aforementioned factors in CPV system.

  • As mobile device is becoming more popular, E-Commerce changes into M-Commerce. Especially, IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunication 2000) service is prepared for M-Commerce and this has USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) as a core of certification of individuality and transactions. As a result, the area of mobile service going to expand by USIM. But, mobile services using USIM leave much to be desired, and developed application don't variety. In this paper, for the efficient design of USIM, the structure of USIM and protocol is analyzed, and secure payment solution in USIM is proposed. Specially, offline payment system is proposed for the verification of proposed protocols including security, saving, and calculation of balance. finally, the simulation of proposed payment system on USIM is performed using Java Card.

  • In this paper, we implemented an image sensor module possible of detecting color temperature in an indoor environment. The color temperature information in the video information acquired by the image sensor was matched with a color difference illuminometer to produce an LUT. An algorithm was developed so that color temperature information according to the received RGB values can be automatically calculated. As a result of measuring the color temperature with an image sensor indoors, an accurate result of less than 5.91% was obtained compared to the reference value. It was confirmed that the uniformity of 23.5% or more was excellent compared to the color temperature measurement result using a color sensor.

  • A process simulation model of pervaporation process has been developed as a design tool to analyse and optimize the dehyhration of organic solvents through a commercial scale of pervaporative plate-and-frame modules that contain a stack of membrane sheets. In the simulation model, the mass balance, the heat balance and the concentration balance are integrated in a finite elements-in-succession method to simulate the overall process. In the integration method, a feed channel between membrane sheets in the modules was taken as differential unit element volume to simplify calculation procedure and shorten computing time. Some of permeation parameters used in the simulation model, were quantified directly from the dehydration experiment of ethanol through $AzeoSep^{TM}$-2002 membrane which is a commercial pervaporation membrane. The simulation model was verified by comparing the simulated values with experimental data. Using the model, continuous and batch pervaporation processes were simulated, respectively, to acquire basic data for analysing and optimizing in the dehydration of ethanol through the membrane. Based on the simulation results, a comparison between the continuous and the batch pervaporation processes would be discussed.

  • A novel three-phase four-wire inverter topology is presented in this paper. This topology is equipped with a special capacitor balance grid without magnetic saturation. In response to unbalanced load and unequal split DC-link capacitors problems, a qusi-full-bridge DC/DC topology is applied in the balance grid. By using a high-frequency transformer, the energy transfer within the two split dc-link capacitors is realized. The novel topology makes the voltage across two split dc-link capacitors balanced so that the neutral point voltage ripple is inhibited. Under the condition of a stable neutral point voltage, the three-phase four-wire inverter can be equivalent to three independent single phase inverters. As a result, the three-phase inverter can produce symmetrical voltage waves with an unbalanced load. To avoid forward transformer magnetic saturation, the voltages of the primary and secondary windings are controlled to reverse once during each switching period. Furthermore, an improved mode chosen operating principle for this novel topology is designed and analyzed in detail. The simulated results verified the feasibility of this topology and an experimental inverter has been built to test the power quality produced by this topology. Finally, simulation results verify that the novel topology can effectively improve the inhibition of an inverter with a three-phase unbalanced load while decreasing the value of the split capacitor.
