Geometric invariants are basic tools for geometric processing and computer vision. In this paper, we give a linear approximation for the differentiation of the binormal vector field of a space curve by using the forward and backward differences of discrete binormal vectors. Two kind of discrete torsion, say, back-ward torsion $T_b$ and forward torsion $T_f$ can be defined by the dot product of the (backward and forward) discrete differentiation of binormal vectors that are linear approximations of torsion. Using Frenet formula and Taylor series expansion, we give error estimations for the discrete torsions. We also give numerical tests for a curve. Notably the average of $T_b$ and $T_f$ looks more stable in errors.
The guided wave has been widely employed to characterize thin plates and layered media. The dispersion curves of phase and group velocities are essential for the quantitative application of guided waves. In the present work, a fully automated system for the measurement of backward radiation of LLW has been developed. The specimen moves in two dimensional plane as well as in angular rotation. The signals of backward radiation of LLW were measured from an elastic plate in which specific modes of Lamb wave were strongly generated. Phase velocity of the corresponding modes was determined from the incident angle. The generated Lamb waves propagated forward and backward with the leakage of energy into water. Backward radiated LLW was detected by the same transducer and its frequency components were analyzed to extract the related information to the dispersion curves. The dispersion curves of phase velocity were measured by varying the incident angle. Moving the specimen in the linear direction of LLW propagation, group velocity was determined by measuring the transit time shift in the ultrasonic waveform.
This study analyzes the effects of participation in the global production network on the income inequality using panel data from 2005 to 2016 for 63 countries. In this study were used fixed effects model with autocorrelation, random effect model with autocorrelation and the GLS method. Results are as follows: First, the economic development level supports the Kuznets hypothesis. And then, the forward participation in global value chains increased income inequality, and the backward participation decreased income inequality. In order to derive more detailed estimation results, we analyzed OECD countries and non-OECD countries. First, OECD countries featured decreased, but increased beyond a certain level as a U-shaped curve, that did not support the Kuznets hypothesis. In contrast, non-OECD countries followed the Kuznets U-curve. Second, participation in the global production network showed that both OECD and non-OECD countries featured increased income inequality. In contrast, backward participation appears to mitigate income inequality both in OECD and non-OECD countries. Finally, the ratio of labor and capital is significant in mitigating income inequality in non-OECD countries in which they feature backward participation in production networks. This can be interpreted as developing economies participate in the global production network due to increased capital accumulation and increased the labor productivity.
Recently, boss and rib test based on backward extrusion process was proposed to quantitatively evaluate the interfacial friction condition in bulk forming process. In this test, the tube-shaped punch with hole pressurizes the workpiece so that the boss and rib are formed along the hole and outer surface of the punch. It was experimentally and numerically revealed that the height of boss is higher than that of the rib under the severe friction condition. This work is focused on the effect of the punch design and flow stress on deformation pattern in boss and rib test. From the boss and rib test simulations, it was found that there is slight variation in both the heights of boss and rib according to the length of punch land, nose radius, and face angle. However the hole diameter of the punch and the clearance between the punch and die have a significant influence on the calibration curves showing the heights of the boss and rib. In addition, the effect of flow stress on the calibration curves was investigated through FE simulations. It was found that there is no effect of strength coefficient of the workpiece on the calibration curves for estimation of friction condition. On the other hand, the strain-hardening exponent of the workpiece has a significant influence on the calibration curve.
In this paper we introduce a discrete tangent vector of a polygon defined on each vertex by a linear combination of forward difference and backward difference, and show that if the polygon is originated from a smooth curve then direction of the discrete tangent vector is a second order approximation of the direction of the tangent vector of the original curve. Using this discrete tangent vector, we also introduced the geometric cubic Hermite interpolation of a polygon with controlled initial and terminal speed of the curve segments proportional to the edge length. In this case the whole interpolation is $C^1$. Experiments suggest that about $90\%$ of the edge length is the best fit for the initial and terminal speeds.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the kinematic characteristics of the national speed skaters in the curve phase of 500-m race. Method: Seven national skaters participated in the study. Race images were acquired using a high - speed camera, and the three-dimensional motion was analyzed. Results: For skaters, whose average velocity in the curve phase is high, the velocity of entry into the straight phase was also fast. The fast skaters showed a larger maximum angle of extension of the knee joints than the relatively slow skaters, and the trunk ROM was smaller. Fast skaters tended to match the timing of the movement of the lower limb with the pelvis, while slow skaters tended to rotate the left pelvis backward. The velocity of the curve phase did not show a clear relationship with stroke time, average trunk angle, and lap time. Conclusion: It is important to skate close to the inner line, keep the trunk ROM below 10 degrees, extend the knee angle to over 160 degrees, and match the movement of the pelvis and lower limb to accelerate in the curve phase. The average velocity of the curves was fast for many athletes, but the competition rankings were low. Therefore, it is possible to improve the performance by optimizing the start technique, the running characteristics of the straight phase, and the physical factors.

Well defined amphiphilic diblock copolymers of poly(styrene-b-vinylbenzylphosphonic acid) (PS-b-PVBPA) were prepared by controlled radical polymerization technique, two-step hydrolysis reactions using trime-thylsilyl bromide from the corresponding phosphonic ethyl ester. By indirect, backward pH titration of the block copolymer, a good titration curve of a dibasic acid was observed. The IEC values obtained from both backward pH titration and volumetric back titration were almost identical. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) of the phosphonic acid containing block copolymer showed a high thermal stability up to $400^{\circ}C$.

An upper-bound elemental stream function technique(UBST) is proposed for solivng forging and backward extrusion problems that are geometrically complex or need a forming simulation . And in the forging problems, this study investigates that layer of elements effects dissipation of total energy and load. The element system of UBSTuses the curve fitting property of FEM and the fluid incompressiblity of the stream function . The foumulated optimal design problems with constraints ae solved by the flixible toerance method. In the closed-die forging and backward extrusion, the result of layer of element by this study produces a lower upper-bound solution than that fo UBET and conventional layer of element . And the main advantage of UBST program is that a computer code, once written , can be used for a large variety problems by simply changing the input data.

After a lot of hard effort during last 50 years, we have been finally beared fruit of a high speed vehicle. But, A large percentage of the existing railways are actually being lasted it's last popularity because of the backward speed. The object of this research isn't supposed to make an effort for developing vehicle's speed with lower budget, but to evaluate it's efficiency. The time has come for upgrading train's lower speed with at the minimum of rail's changing. To solve this problem, we are describing that is how to control a transition curve of the railway.

In many machines handling lightweight and flexible media such as magnetic tape drives, xerographic copiers and sewing machines, the media must transit an open space. It is important to predict the static and dynamic behavior of the sheets with a high degree of reliability. The nonlinear theory of the dynamic elastica has often been used to a nonlinear dynamic deflection model. In this paper, the governing equation is derived and simulated by the finite differential method. The parametric cubic curve is applied for defining the guide shape. The dynamic contact conditions suggested by Klarbring is used to predict the direction of the flexible media according to the initial velocity and the friction coefficient. The analysis is also compared to the conventional model, showing that after contacting a $45^{\circ}$ wall, the directions of flexible media of two models are different.
