ZnS:Mn 박막 형광체를 적용한 다층 EL 소자 특성 연구

  • RF Magnetron Sputtering 방법을 통해 ZnS:Mn 박막 형광체를 증착한 다층 TFEL (Thin-Film Electroluminescent) Backlight 소자를 제작하였다. Alumina 기판 위에 Au 전극과 PMN 후막 유전체를 Screen printing 기법으로 층을 형성하였다. 그 위에 MgO 박막 유전체를 E-Beam 장비를 이용하여 증착 후, ZnS:Mn 박막 형광체를 50 W 의 저전력으로 약 8000 ${\AA}$ 두께로 증착하였다. 형광체는 Sputter 증착 시 Sulfur 부족 현상을 보상해주기 위해 ZnS:Mn (0.5%) Target 에 2 at % 의 Sulfur를 첨가하였으며, 상부 전극으로 사용할 ITO 는 DC Magnetron Sputter 를 이용하여 증착하였다. 어닐링 공정은 Air 분위기에서 급속 열처리 장치 (RTA, Rapid Thermal Annealing) 을 이용하여 600 $^{\circ}C$에서 20 분 진행하였다. 이러한 과정들을 통해 저전압 고휘도의 TFEL Backlight 소자를 제조할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문은 LED Driver 휘도(Luminance) 제어 방식인 펄스폭 변조(PWM), 진폭변조 방식(PAM)을 조합한 스마트디밍 알고리즘에 대해 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 LED 구동 순방향 전류($I_f$)양에 따라 순방향 전압($V_f$)이 비례적으로 변화되는 특성을 이용한 것으로, LED Backlight 적용 LCM의 소비전력을 저감할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 디밍 (CPWAM=Conditional Pulse Width Amplitude Modulation) 알고리즘에 대해 소개하고 실험을 통해 제안된 알고리즘의 타당성을 검증한다.

Development of Direct Surface Forming Process

  • The backlight unit(BLU) is used as a light source of TFT liquid-crystalline-display (TFT-LCD) module. In this backlight unit, one of important components is the light guide, which is usually made of transparent polymers. Currently the screen-printing method is mainly used for the light guide as a manufacturing process. However, it has limitation to the flexibility of three-dimensional optical design. In the present paper a new alternative manufacturing method for the light guide with low-cost is proposed. This manufacturing method is named as direct surface forming (DSF), which is very similar to the well-known hot embossing except for partial contact between mold and substrate. The results of this new manufacturing method are presented in terms of processing condition, dimensional accuracy, productivity, etc.

  • Recently, the market share of the thin-film-transistor liquid-crystalline-display (TFT-LCD) is growing rapidly in display device market. The backlight unit is used as a light source of TFT-LCD module. A light-guide is one of several important components of backlight unit. The manufacturing technology and optical system design of the light guide is very sensitive to quality and cost of the TFT-LCD module. In the present study a new manufacturing method which is called as direct surface forming(DSF) has been tested under various conditions. The result of this test, V-groove pattern shows different shapes depends on the temperature of mold surface, contact time of mold and depth of V-groove.

A Study on the Characteristics of High Brightness of LCD-Backlight (LCD-Backlight의 고휘도 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the brightmess from inside gas pressure, applied voltages, and operation frequency conditions was measured and the discharge characteristics in FFL(Flat Fluorescent Lamp) also were measured and discussed. The brightness and lifetime after vacuum exhaust ($350^{\circ}C$ and 1 hour) ate remarkably developed. When the gas pressure of lamp-inside is high, the brightness is also increased automatically. But for the stabilization of operation and driving voltage, the highest values of brightness at about 1000[V], 300[Torr] and 64(kHz) are measured and the results are shown as the optimized driving conditions for FFL.

  • CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) are used to backlight of LCD(Liquid Crystal Display). This paper presents analysis of half-bridge type resonant inverter of CCFL drive in order to stable characteristics, and fluorescent lamp operation frequency is higher than resonant frequency for safe operation. Besides, The Piezoelectric ceramic transformer (PZT) is electro-mechanical device that transfers electrical energy through a mechanical vibration. The modified equivalent circuit model of the PZT considering the operating current level is derived to design the CCFL. The validity of this study was confirmed from the simulation and experiential result.

  • In this paper, a external electrode fluorescent lamp driving inverter for LCD backlight is designed. AC input from a lamp-driven system to process up to two inverter system for the existing configuration of power-efficient than the system as well as to increase the volume and weight reduction, Furthermore low-cost advantage. AC power input in order to drive EEFL stable and AC 85V ~ 265V power factor increase in the PFC Block can be used for running the Inverter Block EEFL and composed.

  • A surface flow visualization of a MIRA notchback reference car was conducted using a 1/4 -scale model in the POSTECH wind tunnel. The flow separation and reattachment phenomen a around A-pillar, C-pillar, backlight, and trunk were discussed with the help of the distributions of singular points such as nodes, saddles, and spiral foci. The locations of the singular points on the trunk and the backlight from experimental results are compared with those of CFD results using the turbulence modeling of RNG k -${\varepsilon}$ and RSM.

  • To improve the efficiency of the high voltage cable for BLU(backlight unit) of TFT-LCD(Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display), the analysis for the trial products(UL3239, UL3633) is conducted by using SEM(scanning electron microscope) and EDX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy). The result that it is possible to accumulate the know-how to about stranding pitch through effective improvement of stranding process. The troubles which are the badness of withstanding voltage and tensile strength etc. are solved by development of excellent material. Furthermore, phenomenon of conductor unfasten in the harness work is solved by improvement of the stranding wire process.
