In general, background subtraction based methods are used to detect the moving objects in visual tracking applications. In this paper we employed background subtraction based scheme to detect the temporarily stationary objects. We proposed two schemes for stationary object detection and we compare those in terms of detection performance and computational complexity. In the first approach we used single background and in the second approach we used dual backgrounds, generated with different learning rates, in order to detect temporarily stopped object. Finally, we used normalized cross correlation (NCC) based image comparison to monitor and track the detected stationary object in a video scene. The proposed method is robust with partial occlusion, short time fully occlusion and illumination changes, as well as it can operate in real time.

A developed skill of an intelligent CCTV is also advancing by using its Image Acquisition Device. In this field, area for technique can be divided into Foreground Subtraction which detects individuals and objects in a potential observing area and a tracing technology which figures out moving route of individuals and objects. In this thesis, an improved algorism for a settled engine development, which is stable to change in both noise and illumination for detecting moving objects is suggested. The proposed algorism from this thesis is focused on designing a stable and real time processing method which is perfect model in detecting individuals, animals, and also low-speeding transports and catching a change in an illumination and noise.

With the remarkable growth in rich media in recent years, people are increasingly exposed to visual information from the environment. Visual information continues to play a vital role in rich media because people's real interests lie in dynamic information. This paper proposes a novel discrete dynamic swarm optimization (DDSO) algorithm for video object tracking using invariant features. The proposed approach is designed to track objects more robustly than other traditional algorithms in terms of illumination changes, background noise, and occlusions. DDSO is integrated with a matching procedure to eliminate inappropriate feature points geographically. The proposed novel fitness function can aid in excluding the influence of some noisy mismatched feature points. The test results showed that our approach can overcome changes in illumination, background noise, and occlusions more effectively than other traditional methods, including color-tracking and invariant feature-tracking methods.

This paper presents a panoramic reference image generation based automatic algorithm for moving objects detection robust to illumination variations under moving camera. Background image is generated by rotating the fixed the camera on the tripod horizontally. aligning and reorganizing this images. In generation of the cylindrical panoramic image, most of previous works assume the static environment. We propose the method to generating the panoramic reference image from dynamic environments in this paper. We develop an efficient approach for panoramic reference image generation by using accumulated edge map as well as method of edge matching between input image and background image. We applied the proposed algorithm to real image sequences. The experimental results show that panoramic reference image generation robust to illumination variations can be possible using the proposed method.

For the research field of night infrared surveillance video, the target imaging in the video is easily affected by the light due to the characteristics of the active infrared camera and the classical ViBe algorithm has some problems for moving target extraction because of background misjudgment, noise interference, ghost shadow and so on. Therefore, an improved ViBe algorithm (I-ViBe) for moving target extraction in night infrared surveillance video is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the video frames are sampled and judged by the degree of light influence, and the video frame is divided into three situations: no light change, small light change, and severe light change. Secondly, the ViBe algorithm is extracted the moving target when there is no light change. The segmentation factor of the ViBe algorithm is adaptively changed to reduce the impact of the light on the ViBe algorithm when the light change is small. The moving target is extracted using the region growing algorithm improved by the image entropy in the differential image of the current frame and the background model when the illumination changes drastically. Based on the results of the simulation, the I-ViBe algorithm proposed has better robustness to the influence of illumination. When extracting moving targets at night the I-ViBe algorithm can make target extraction more accurate and provide more effective data for further night behavior recognition and target tracking.
We present a new method of extracting foreground object from background image for vision-based game interface. Background Subtraction is an important preprocessing step for extracting the features of tracking objects. The image is divided into the cells where the Local Histogram with Gaussian kernel is computed and compared with the corresponding one using Bhattacharyya distance measure. The histogram-based method is partially robust against illumination change, noise and small moving objects in background. We propose a Multi-Scaled Integral Histogram approach for noise suppression and fast computation.
Object tracking is a common vision task to detect and trace objects between consecutive frames. It is also important for a variety of applications such as surveillance, video based traffic monitoring system, and so on. An efficient moving vehicle clustering and tracking algorithm suitable for traffic monitoring system is proposed in this paper. First, automatic background extraction method is used to get a reliable background as a reference. The moving blob(object) is then separated from the background by mean shift method. Second, the scale invariant feature based method extracts the salient features from the clustered foreground blob. It is robust to change the illumination, scale, and affine shape. The simulation results on various road situations demonstrate good performance achieved by proposed method.
PURPOSE. To evaluate the metameric disparities among monolithic zirconia materials with differing yttrium compositions across various lighting conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty-six square-shaped zirconia samples measuring 10 × 10 × 0.5 mm were prepared from monolithic zirconia materials with three different yttrium contents. A 0.2 mm thick layer of polymerized dual-polymerizable self-adhesive resin cement was created using a silicone mold with the same dimensions as the prepared zirconia specimens. To evaluate metamerism, color measurements were conducted using a spectrophotometer device on a neutral gray background in a color measurement cabinet that offers four different illumination environments. All samples underwent aging by subjecting them to 10000 thermal cycles using a thermal cycle tester. Following thermal aging, color measurements were taken once more, and the data were recorded using the CIE L*, a*, b* color system. Two-way ANOVA and Post-hoc Bonferroni tests were employed to analyze the data. RESULTS. It was observed that there was no statistical difference among the color measurements made in different illumination environments of the monolithic zirconia ceramics used to evaluate metamerism (P > .05). This observation remained consistent both before and after thermal aging. After thermal aging, the color of monolithic zirconia materials exhibited a tendency towards red and yellow hues, accompanied by a decrease in brightness levels. CONCLUSION. It can be stated that different illumination conditions did not affect the metamerism of monolithic zirconia materials, but there was a color change in monolithic zirconia materials after a thermal aging period equivalent to one year.
Though background subtraction has been widely studied for last decades, it is still a poorly solved problem especially when it meets real environments. In this paper, we first address some common problems for background subtraction that occur in real environments and then those problems are resolved by improving an existing GMM-based background modeling method. First, to achieve low computations, fixed point operations are used. Because background model usually does not require high precision of variables, we can reduce the computation time while maintaining its accuracy by adopting fixed point operations rather than floating point operations. Secondly, to avoid erroneous backgrounds that are induced by high pedestrian traffic, static levels of pixels are examined using shot-time statistics of pixel history. By using a lower learning rate for non-static pixels, we can preserve valid backgrounds even for busy scenes where foregrounds dominate. Finally, to adapt rapid illumination changes, we estimated the intensity change between two consecutive frames as a linear transform and compensated learned background models according to the estimated transform. By applying the fixed point operation to existing GMM-based method, it was able to reduce the computation time to about 30% of the original processing time. Also, experiments on a real video with high pedestrian traffic showed that our proposed method improves the previous background modeling methods by 20% in detection rate and 5~10% in false alarm rate.
Recently, the IDS(Intrusion Detection System) using a video camera is an important part of the home security systems which start gaining popularity. However, the video intruder detection has not been widely used in the home surveillance systems due to its unreliable performance in the environment with abrupt illumination change. In this paper, we propose an effective moving edge extraction algorithm from a sequence image. The proposed algorithm extracts edge segments from current image and eliminates the background edge segments by matching them with reference edge list, which is updated at every frame, to find the moving edge segments. The test results show that it can detect the contour of moving object in the noisy environment with abrupt illumination change.
