  • This paper describes tbe design and implementation of the adaptive controller to maintain the glood weld quality in gas metal arc welding process. The weld torch travel speed and the surface temperature are taken, respectively, as an input and an output of the welding control system. Because of the very complex phenomena of the process, the input-output dynamic model was experimentally identified by AIC (Akiake Information Criterion). Based on the model structure, the explicit model reference adaptive controller is simulated in order to regulate the output tempernture to the desired level.

  • Recently, in construction equipment machinery production, development has focused on environmentally-friendly functions to improve existing production capacity. For excavators as well, emphasis has been placed on response to environmental regulations, miniaturization, and noise reduction, while technology is being developed considering cost reduction and safety.Accordingly, the front support, an inner reinforcement part of the excavator, as well as high-strength steel plates to improve safety and reduce weight, are being applied.However, in the case of high-strength materials, Springback occurs in the final formed part due to high residual stress during product forming. Derivation of a forming or product shaping process to reduce springback is needed. Accordingly, regarding the front support, an inner reinforcement part of the excavator, this study derived a method to improve springback and secure shape stiffness through analysis of the springback occurrence rate and springback causes through a forming analysis.As for the results of analyzing the springback occurrence rate of existing products through forming analysis, springback of -22.6 mm < z < 27.35 mm occurred on the z-axis, and it was confirmed that springback occurred due to the stiffness reinforcing bead of the upper and middle parts of the product.To control product residual stress and springback, we confirmed a tendency of springback reduction through local pre-cutting and stiffness reinforcement bead relocation.In the local pre-cutting model, springback was slightly reduced by 5.3% compared with the existing model, an insignificant reduction effect. In the stiffness reinforcement bead relocation model, when an X-shaped stiffness reinforcement bead was added to each corner portion of the product, springback was reduced by at least 80%.The X-shaped bead addition model was selected as the springback reduction model, and the level of stiffness compared to the existing model was confirmed through a structural analysis.The X-shaped bead additional model showed a stress springback of 90% and springback reduction of 7.4% compared with the existing model, indicating that springback and stiffness will be reinforced.

  • The systems with probe and SIL(Solid Immersion Lens) mechanisms have been researched as the technology to perform NFR(Near Field Recording). Most of them use the flying head mechanism to accomplish high recording density and fast data transfer rate. In this paper, ABS shape of flying head was optimized with the object of securing the maximum compliance ability of OFH. We suggest low different optimization processes to predict the static flying characteristics for the OFH. Two different approximation methods, regression analysis and back propagation neural network were used. And we compared the result of directly connected(between CAE and optimizer) method and two approximated optimization results. Design Optimization Tool(DOT) and ${\mu}GA$ were used as the optimizers.

Roles of polypropylene beads and pH in hybrid water treatment of carbon fiber membrane and PP beads with water back-flushing

  • The roles of polypropylene (PP) beads and pH on membrane fouling and treatment efficiency were investigated in a hybrid advanced water treatment process of tubular carbon fiber membranes (ultrafiltration (UF) or microfiltration (MF)) and PP beads. The synthetic feed including humic acid and kaolin flowed inside the membrane, and the permeated contacted the PP beads fluidized in the space between the membrane and the module with UV irradiation and periodic water back-flushing. In the hybrid process of UF ($0.05{\mu}m$) and PP beads, final resistance of membrane fouling ($R_f$) after 180 min increased as PP beads increased. The turbidity treatment efficiency was the maximum at 30 g/L; however, that of dissolved organic matters (DOM) showed the highest at PP beads 50 g/L. The $R_f$ strengthened as pH of feed increased. It means that the membrane fouling could be inhibited at low alkali condition. The treatment efficiency of turbidity was almost constant independent of pH; however, that of DOM showed the maximum at pH 5. For MF ($0.1{\mu}m$), the final $R_f$ was the minimum at PP beads 40 g/L. The treatment efficiencies of turbidity and DOM were the maximum at PP beads 10 g/L.

내면 용접부재의 전자세 레이저-아크 하이브리드 용접 연구 (Position welding for internal welded specimen using laser-GMA hybrid welding)

  • Laser-arc hybrid welding has been considered as an effective pipe girth welding process since early 2000's. Tolerance for fit-up offsets such as gap and edge misalignment is one of most important requirements in pipe girth laser-arc hybrid welding, and several approaches using parameter optimization, a laser beam scanning and an arc oscillation have been tried. However the required offset tolerance has not been fully accomplished up to now and laser-arc hybrid welding has not been widely applied in pipeline construction than expected, despite of its high welding speed and deep penetration. In this study, internal welding was adopted to ensure the offset tolerance and sound back bead. The effect of welding parameters on bead shape was investigated at the flat position. Also tolerances for gap and edge misalignment were verified as 0.5 mm and 2.0 mm, respectively. The position welding trials were conducted at several welding positions from the flat to the overhead position in a downward direction. With the fixed welding speed, arc current for gas metal arc welding current and laser output power, adequate welding voltages for gas metal arc welding were suggested for each position.

관형 세라믹 정밀여과와 광촉매 첨가 PES 구의 혼성수처리에서 pH 및 포화산소, 역세척 매체의 영향 (Effect of pH, Saturated Oxygen, and Back-flushing Media in Hybrid Water Treatment of Tubular Ceramic MF and Photocatalyst-loaded PES Beads)

  • 고도정수처리를 위한 관형 세라믹 정밀여과와 이산화티타늄($TiO_2$) 광촉매 첨가 PES (polyethersulfone) 구의 혼성공정에서 pH 및 포화산소, 역세척 매체의 영향을 막오염에 의한 저항($R_f$) 및 투과선속(J), 총처리수량($V_T$) 측면에서 물 또는 질소, 산소 역세척 결과를 비교하였다. pH가 증가할수록 $R_f$는 감소하였고 J과 $V_T$는 증가하였다. 탁도 처리효율은 pH에 상관없이 물 또는 질소 역세척 모두 유사한 값을 보였고, 용존유기물(DOM) 처리효율은 물 역세척 시 일정한 경향을 보이지 않았다. $R_f$는 공급수를 산소로 포화시킨 무역세척(NBF)에서 포화산소(SO)가 없는 NBF보다 낮게 나타났다. DOM 처리효율도 SO가 있는 NBF에서 SO가 없는 NBF보다 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 SO가 광촉매 $TiO_2$와 반응하여 발생된 OH 라디칼이 모듈 내에 채워진 물에 의해 희석되었기 때문이다. 역세척 주기 10분에서 물 역세척보다 기체 역세척 시 DOM 처리효율은 큰 값을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 기체 역세척이 물 역세척보다 PES 구를 효과적으로 세척함으로써, PES 구에 의한 흡착과 광분해가 활발하게 진행되기 때문이다.

광촉매 및 세라믹 정밀여과 혼성공정에 의한 고탁도 원수의 고도정수처리: 물 역세척시 유기물의 영향 (Advanced Water Treatment of High Turbidity Source by Hybrid Process of Photocatalyst and Ceramic Microfiltration: Effect of Organic Materials in Water-back-flushing)

  • 고탁도 원수의 고도정수처리를 위해 관형 세라믹 정밀여과막 외부와 원통형 막 모듈 내부 사이의 공간에 광촉매를 충전한 혼성 모듈을 사용하였다. 광촉매는 PP (polypropylene) 구(bead)에 $TiO_2$ 분말을 플라즈마 화학증착(chemical vapor deposition) 공정으로 코팅한 것이다. 정수 원수 중 자연산 유기물(NOM)과 미세 무기 입자를 대체하기 위해, 휴믹산(humic acid)과 카올린(kaolin) 모사용액을 대상으로 하였다. 혼성공정에서 막오염을 최소화하기 위해 10분 주기로 10초 동안 물 역세척을 시행하였다. 휴믹산을 10 mg/L부터 2 mg/L로 변화시킴에 따라, 막오염에 의한 저항($R_f$)이 감소하고 J가 증가하여 2 mg/L에서 가장 높은 총여과부피($V_T$)를 얻었다. 탁도 및 $UV_{254}$ 흡광도의 처리효율은 각각 98.5% 및 85.7% 이상이었다. MF 공정 및 MF + $TiO_2$ 공정, MF + $TiO_2$ + UV 공정의 막여과 및 광촉매 흡착, 광산화의 처리 분율을 알아본 결과, 광촉매 흡착과 광산화에 의해 탁도는 거의 처리되지 않았으나, 광촉매 흡착 및 광산화에 의한 휴믹산 처리 분율은 각각 10.7, 8.6% 이상이었다.

  • With the recent strengthening of environmental regulations and the need for cost reduction, excavators, a type of construction equipment, are being miniaturized while components are being developed in consideration of stability. In the case of excavator press parts, mainly high-strength steel sheets are being used to enhance stability and reduce weight. However, in the case of high-strength materials, there is a need to research product forming methods to reduce Springback in defects arising in parts assembly due to Springback that result from the internal residual stress that occurs in press forming being released after product forming. Accordingly, regarding the tank cover, an excavator press-forming part, this study selected a method to reduce distortion through analysis of the Springback occurrence rate and Springback causes through a forming analysis. A forming analysis was conducted for the Springback of the tank cover. Deformations of 13.714 mm in the upper part and 6.244 mm in the inner part of the product occurred, while wrinkles occurred on the sides of the product due to uneven thickness. A forming analysis was conducted for the major shapes of the product to investigate the causes of Springback. Distortion deformation due to the bead in the center of the product was confirmed to be a large factor. A Springback reduction method of correcting uneven thickness in the product sides, a Springback reduction method of removing the bead, and a correction method of restriking after the final forming were used in a forming analysis to determine the degree of Springback reduction. For the forming method to correct uneven thickness in the sides, deformation was reduced by 12% in the upper side compared to the existing model, but deformation in the inner side increased by 1%. For the restriking forming method, deformation decreased by 25% in the upper side and 13% in the inner side. For the bead removal method, deformation decreased by 28% in the upper side and 13% in the inner side, the largest Springback correction results. This indicates that the bead has a large affect on Springback.

레이저 용접 차체의 성형해석과 금형설계 (Stamping Analysis and Die Design of Laser Welded Automotive Body)

  • Computer simulations and test trials were carried out to obtain the optimal stamping conditions of the die design of the laser welded automotive body. The stamping process including gravity deflection bead calibration binder wrap, forming and spring back was simulated and compared with the results obtained from test trials. The production variables were determined from a preliminary operation and they were investigated in the simulation and the test trials. The formability was tested under the various conditions, such as the initial position of blank, blank holding force, corner radius and the shape of drawbead. Sound products without fracture, wrinkling and excessive weldline movement were produced by applying results obtained this investigation.

  • A quality monitoring system in butt welding process is proposed to estimate weld pool sizes. The geometrical parameters of the weld pool such as the top bead width and the penetration depth plus half back width are utilized to prove the integrity of the weld quality. The monitoring variables used are the surface temperatures measured at three points on the top surface of the weldment. The temperature profile is assumed that it has a gaussian distribution in vertical direction of torch movement and verify this assumption through temperature analysis. A neural network estimator is designed to estimate weld pool size from temperature informations. The experimental results show that the proposed neural network estimator which used gaussian distribution as temperature information can estimate the weld pool sizes accurately than used three point temperatures as temperature information. Considering the change of gap size in butt welding, the experiment were performed on various gap size.
