The purpose of this study was to analyze to 1) the differences according to demographic characteristics 2) select the type-specific communities online channels of the baby boomer customers group, who ever search for restaurant information through on-line for the previous three months. The study was based on a total of 280 samples obtained from on-line networking service users in a metropolitan area from April 15 to 30, 2016. The major findings are as follows. The data were analysed using frequency, factor analysis, cluster analysis and ${\chi}^2test$. According to the results of factor analysis, on-line utilizing attributes were separated into three factors: commitment of useful information, activity of leading on-line, and habit. The based on a factor analysis, cluster analysis was adopted to segment baby boomer customers. The identified four clusters showed in using on-line: type of active utilization, habit, seeking information and passive utilization. The clusters had significant differences in gender and monthly income by demographics. All of four clusters selected blog, face book, twitter in turn through the personal on-line channels. Cluster type of active utilization and habit selected restaurant home pages, restaurant blog, restaurant face book, restaurant twitter in turn through the public on-line channels. Cluster type of seeking information and passively utilization selected restaurant home pages, restaurant blog, restaurant twitter, restaurant face book in turn through the public on-line channels. Implications and future research were also discussed.
This study identified and compared family values within and across different generations concerning gender roles, attitudes toward diverse families, children, and parental roles. Data were obtained from the 2020 Seoul Family Report Survey. There were 1,949 study subjects, including first- and second-generation baby boomers and individuals in generations X, Y, and Z in Korea. Latent profile analyses were conducted using M-plus. Perceptions and views concerning family values were classified into different types. The main findings were as follows. Two types were identified among first baby boomers, and three were identified among second baby boomers. Most of the first and second baby boomers belonged to the "moderate" type. Two types were detected among those in Generation X. Regarding gender roles, most views of Generation X were slightly progressive, while their other family values were more moderate. Three types were identified among those in Generation Y: "progressive," "moderate," and "very liberal." Generation Z was identified as a "progressive" group. This study provides basic data to explore the direction of the coexistence of generations by identifying and comparing diverse family values within and across generations.

Recently, Korean baby boomers, which make up approximately 15% of the total population, have begun to retire. Their economic well being is one of Korea's most important social issues. The purpose of this study was to compare the economic structure of baby boomers' households with that of the prior generation, as well as to analyze the determinants of economic satisfaction from the perspective of "work" and "child educational burden." In addition, group comparisons were made regarding economic resource allocation between baby boomers and the prior generation and within baby boomers of different work and child educational burden statuses. Data from the 2nd wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA), including baby boomers and the generation prior to the baby boomers, were used. The major findings were as follows. First, the baby boomers had a different economic structure, level of economic satisfaction, and economic resource allocation when compared to the prior generation. The economic structure of baby boomers in terms of income, expenditure, savings and assets, debts, and trust in policies significantly differed from their counterparts. Second, the determinants of economic satisfaction and the propensity of resource allocation were different depending on whether they worked or had a child educational burden, respectively. Based on these empirical results, policy implications for the future economic well being of baby boomers were provided.
This study aimed to analyze consumers' acceptance of sports applications and smart sportswear to better design technology-enhanced walking exercise wear for the Baby Boomer generation based on their cohort characteristics. A questionnaire with items related to acceptance of existing smart sportswear design, functionality, and usability as well as existing sports application design, functionality, and usability was sent to consumers aged 50-65. Of 163 questionnaires distributed, 150 were used for analysis. The results showed that middle-aged consumers were aware of smart sportswear's functional stability, but were concerned about care, durability, and convenience. Middle-aged consumers were also aware of sports applications as educational functions for obtaining new information. Additionally, they found sports applications to have lower perceived convenience and accessibility relative to the young generation, highlighting the need for simple instructions and explanations for sports application planning. Based on these results, we propose "Everyday design for general sportswear," "Functions based on consumer's preference," "Enhanced design for durability and management convenience" for designing and planning walking exercise wear for middle-aged consumers, and "Convenient application organization" and "Educational exercise contents" for application planning for walking exercises.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the food-related lifestyle choices of female baby boomers and to investigate variables regarding home meal replacement (HMR) buying behaviors and future needs. This study was conducted on 358 female baby boomers 53 years of age living in Gyeonggi and near Seoul. Out of 420 distributed questionnaires, 358 were returned and used for analysis (response rate: 85.2%). As a result of cluster analysis, three groups were identified based on the food-related lifestyles : a value-seeking group, a convenience-seeking group, and a health-seeking group. Among the three groups, there were significant differences in two socio-demographic characteristics, education level (p<0.05) and regular exercise (p<0.01), and in several health- and food-related habits, type of breakfast (p<0.01), type of dinner (p<0.05), dinner details (p<0.05), frequency of eating out (p<0.05), and eating habits score (p<0.01). The health-seeking group was significantly more likely to purchase ready to cook (RTC) items (59.1%) than were the other groups (p<0.001). However, the ratio of HMR purchasing for the purpose of meal replacement (p<0.05) and an HMR purchasing frequency of more than twice a week (p<0.001) were significantly lower in the health-seeking group. Reasons for selecting HMR showed a similar tendency among groups in taste (26.2%), convenience (18.7%), price (16.9%), safety (15.3%) and type of food (14.3%). However, the satisfaction scores for hygiene and safety reported by the health-seeking group were significantly lower than those reported by the other groups. More than two-thirds of all respondents were willing to purchase HMR in the future, though there were significant differences according to group: convenience-seeking group, 73.1%, health-seeking group, 70.1%, and value-seeking group, 65.7% (p<0.05). Our results suggest that the number of baby boomers purchasing HMR products will continue to grow and baby boomers will want HMR products to be more healthy (52.0%), safe (28.5%) and delicious (13.4%). An emphasis on taste was high in the convenience-seeking group, whereas an emphasis on health was high in the health-seeking and value-seeking groups. In conclusion, this study shows various food-related lifestyles amongst female baby boomers and illustrates the need to develop HMR marketing strategies targeted to these different lifestyles.

Objective : A pilot project entitled '50s mental health screening project' was conducted in Seoul. As a part of this project, we conducted surveys to obtain the opinions of psychiatrists regarding mental health screenings. Methods : A questionnaire was mailed to members registered with the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association, which enquired about the '50s mental health screening project'. Results: A majority (90.9%) of the subjects agreed on the purpose and implementation of the project. However, there were fewer individuals that actually showed the intent to participate (65.8%). The mean age of the group with the intention to participate was higher compared to the group with no intention to participate. The factors that negatively affected the intent to participate included prejudice and discrimination against psychiatry (3.795), low health insurance reimbursement (3.784), and inconvenience of reporting to public health centers (3.664). The most appropriate method that scored the highest for screening mental health was face-to-face consultation with a psychiatrist (3.889). Most of the participants agreed on the method of a self-reported survey along with an interview of psychiatrist (84.9%). Conclusion : Subjects were concerned about prejudice and discrimination against psychiatry, low health insurance reimbursement, and inconvenience of reporting to public health centers. These problems need to be supplemented. Face-to-face consultation with a psychiatrist may be considered an appropriate method for future mental health screening.

The purpose of this study was to examine difference in life satisfaction by social activity type in baby boomers. Sampling 1,115 baby boomers, gender and region were assigned. A questionnaire survey was carried out from August to October in 2011. As a result of research, first, the typology of social activity in baby boomers includes 3 groups. The passive social-participation type is the cluster to which 36.8% of the baby boomers belong. They do not join income activity or civic-group activity at all. A case of doing religious activity or family activity includes a minority. There are primarily lots of women and posteriori baby boomers. Academic background level or household income is lower compared to other clusters. The life satisfaction level is moderate. Second, the active social-participation type is the cluster to which 33.8% of the baby boomers belong. They are positive in all the social activities including income activity. What there are lots of women and posteriori baby boomers is similar to the passive social-participation type. However, the academic background or the averagely monthly household income is the highest compared to other clusters. Even the life satisfaction level is the highest. Third, the economic activity orientation type is the cluster to which 29.4% of the baby boomers belong. They participate in income activity, but don't participate in civic-group activity, educational activity, and social activity such as spending time alone. Distribution of priori-and-posteriori baby boomers, distribution of academic background, or monthly household income is moderate level of other clusters. However, unlike other clusters, there are many men. The life satisfaction level is the lowest. Based on result of this study are suggested ways to improve in life satisfaction by social activity type in baby boomers.

The baby boomers born between 1955 and 1974, recently called the new age, form a huge population group and show characteristics different from the previous traditional older generations. With the retirement of those who make up 33% of the nation's population in earnest, the emergence of a new generation of the elderly population and policy changes are required. The new middle age generation, also called the opal generation, want to spend their old age productively and autonomously, which has increased due to the increase in life expectancy, and have some economic ability, such as enjoying overseas travel in old age. As preparation for old age is insufficient, policy attention is required for the younger generation as a new generation. In this paper, focusing on the baby boom generation, the definition of the opal generation, their consumption lifestyle, attitudes, social activities, leisure activities, and lifestyle such as health efforts are investigated, and job creation, social re-education, and local It is intended to present practical measures for preparing for old age, such as the establishment of medical facilities and social consideration for a leisurely cultural life.

Population aging and longevity have compelled major worldwide consumer markets to focus on senior citizens who exhibit a desire to nurture their appearance and obtain related products such as cosmetics. This trend signals an increasing need for in-depth research on elderly consumers in the color cosmetics market. This study identified the characteristics of seniors in the pre-elderly stage ("new seniors") based on their lifestyle and market segments. It employed online surveys with participants consisting of pre-elderly Korean women born between 1955 and 1963 who reside in the greater Seoul and Gyeonggi area. The study used SPSS 23.0 for factor analysis, reliability verification, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's test, and cross-analysis. The results show that new seniors could be classified into four groups based on lifestyle: Prime Seniors, Potential Seniors, Rational Seniors, and Slump Seniors. Each group has distinct characteristics. The findings suggest that the senior market requires further segmentation and is no longer a single uniform market. This study also confirms that the lifestyles of the elderly is an instrumental variable for their segmentation.

This study presents the findings from research on the Everyday Life Information Seeking (ELIS) behaviors of Korean government officials in their 50s. 500 survey respondents participated and the quantitative data were analyzed through Structural Equation Model having six key concepts such as personal information environment, information-seeking attitudes, online information attitudes, barriers to information seeking, retirement expectations, and library expectations. The findings showed the important relationships between expectations of the retirement and two constructs (personal information environment and information-seeking attitudes). This study can be used as a strategic implication for library practitioners to develop their library management process in accordance to the potential and powerful evolving user group in a future aged society.
