  • With the rapid advance of autonomous driving technology, the related vehicle market is experiencing explosive growth, and it is anticipated that the era of fully autonomous vehicles will arrive in the near future. However, along with the development of autonomous driving technology, questions regarding its safety and reliability continue to be raised. Concerns among technology adopters are increasing due to media reports of accidents involving autonomous vehicles. To promote the improvement of the safety of autonomous vehicles, it is essential to analyze previous accident cases and identify their causes. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to analyze the factors influencing the severity of autonomous vehicle accidents using previous accident cases and related data. The data used for this research primarily comprised autonomous vehicle accident reports collected and distributed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (CA DMV). Spatial information on accident locations and additional traffic data were also collected and utilized. Given that the primary data used in this study were accident reports, a Poisson regression analysis was conducted to model the expected number of accidents. The research results indicated that the severity of autonomous vehicle accidents increases in areas with low lighting, the presence of bicycle or bus-exclusive lanes, and a history of pedestrian and bicycle accidents. These findings are expected to serve as foundational data for the development of algorithms to enhance the safety of autonomous vehicles and promote the installation of related transportation infrastructure.

  • The sharing economy service is now spreading in various fields such as accommodation, cars and bicycles. In particular, bicycle-sharing service have become very popular around the world, and since September 2015, Seoul has been providing a bicycle-sharing service called 'Ttareungi'. However, the number of bicycles is unbalanced among rental stations continuously according to the user's bicycle use. In order to solve these problems, we employed social network analysis using Ttareungi data in Seoul, Korea. We analyzed degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality and k-core. As a result, the degree centrality was found to be closely linked with bus or subway transfer center. Closeness centrality was found to be in an unbalanced departure and arrival frequency or poor public transport proximity. Betweenness centrality means where the frequency of departure and arrival occurs frequently. Finally, the k-core analysis showed that Mapo-gu was the most important group by time zone. Therefore, the results of this study may contribute to the planning of relocation and additional installation of bike rental station in Seoul.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze traffic flow characteristics according to the market penetration rate (MPR) of autonomous vehicles (AV) on road sections where bus rapid transit (BRT) is actually operating. Furthermore, the maximum traffic volume was set through estimation of future traffic demand, and traffic flow characteristics were analyzed through traffic simulation for each scenario considering of a combination of BRT introduction and AV's MPR. To test statistical significance, Kruskal-Willis test and Jonckheere-Terpstra test were used to examine the impact of the market penetration rate of Autonomous vehicles on travel time and delay time etc. At the same time, the existence of the order relationship among travel time data according to the market penetration rate of autonomous vehicle was examined. As a result of the analysis, it was founded that the travel time significantly decreased as the MPR of AV increases in both intermittent flow and continuous flow environments. In particular, in the case of continuous flow, the law of increasing returns was satisfied in the effect of increasing travel speed and reducing travel time as the MPR of AV increases. The results of this study are expected to be used as a basic information for design plans for road reconstruction and space utilization after the commercialization of AV in the future.

  • Recently, with the advancement of technology, the automotive industry has seen an increase in network connectivity. CAN (Controller Area Network) bus technology enables fast and efficient data communication between various electronic devices and systems within a vehicle, providing a platform that integrates and manages a wide range of functions, from core systems to auxiliary features. However, this increased connectivity raises concerns about network security, as external attackers could potentially gain access to the automotive network, taking control of the vehicle or stealing personal information. This paper analyzed abnormal messages occurring in CAN and confirmed that message occurrence periodicity, frequency, and data changes are important factors in the detection of abnormal messages. Through DBC decoding, the specific meanings of CAN messages were interpreted. Based on this, a model for classifying abnormalities was proposed using the GRU model to analyze the periodicity and trend of message occurrences by measuring the difference (residual) between the predicted and actual messages occurring within a certain period as an abnormality metric. Additionally, for multi-class classification of attack techniques on abnormal messages, a Random Forest model was introduced as a multi-classifier using message occurrence frequency, periodicity, and residuals, achieving improved performance. This model achieved a high accuracy of over 99% in detecting abnormal messages and demonstrated superior performance compared to other existing models.

  • In this paper, a real-time public transportation monitoring system is proposed. The proposed system was implemented by developing a public transportation app and utilizing optical sensors, pressure sensors, and an object detection algorithm. Additionally, a bus model was created to verify the system's functionality. The proposed real-time public transportation monitoring system has three key features. First, the app can monitor congestion levels within public transportation by detecting seat occupancy and the total number of passengers based on changes in optical and pressure sensor readings. Second, to prevent errors in the optical sensor that can occur when multiple passengers board or disembark simultaneously, we explored the possibility of using the YOLO object detection algorithm to verify the number of passengers through CCTV footage. Third, convenience is enhanced by displaying occupied seats in different colors on a separate screen. The system also allows users to check their current location, available public transportation options, and remaining time until arrival. Therefore, the proposed system is expected to offer greater convenience to public transportation users.

  • In Korea, the local traffic safety master plan has been established and implemented according to the Traffic Safety Act. Each local government is required to establish a customized traffic safety policy and share roles for improvement of traffic safety and this means that local governments lead and promote effective local traffic safety policies fit for local circumstances in substance. For implementing efficient traffic safety policies, which accord with many-sided characteristics of local governments, the prediction of community-based traffic accidents, which considers local characteristics and the analysis of accident influence factors must be preceded, but there is a shortage of research on this. Most of existing studies on the community-based traffic accident prediction used social and economic variables related to accident exposure environments in countries or cities due to the limit of collected data. For this reason, there was a limit in applying the developed models to the actual reduction of traffic accidents. Thus, this study developed a local traffic accident prediction model, based on smaller regional units, administrative districts, which were not omitted in existing studies and suggested a method to reflect traffic safety facility and policy variables that traffic safety policy makers can control, in addition to social and economic variables related to accident exposure environments, in the model and apply them to the development of local traffic safety policies. The model development result showed that in terms of accident exposure environments, road extension, gross floor area of buildings, the ratio of bus lane installation and the number of crossroads and crosswalks had a positive relation with accidents and the ratio of crosswalk sign installation, the number of speed bumps and the results of clampdown by police force had a negative relation with accidents.

  • In present study, the effects of various factors including the solvent concentration, extraction time and temperature, the ratio of sample vs extraction solvent, (w/v) and pH upon the extractability of the NaCl and alcohol soluble proteins of marine algae were investigated. Eight species of fresh algae, the major ones in consumption as food, namely Porphyra suborbiculata, Undarie pinnatifida, Hizikia fusiforme, Sargassum, fulvellum, Enteromorpha linza, Sargassum kjellmanianum, Codium coarctatum, and Ulva pertusa were used for the extraction of NaCl soluble protein and dried materials of four species, Perphyra suborbiculata, Undaria pinnatifida, Enteromorpha linza and Sargassum fulvellum were used for the extraction of alcohol soluble protein. The frozen and mascerated samples were prepared by the same method described in previous paper (Ryu, 1977). And the dried materials were moistened with alcohol solution before freezing. The effect of solvent concentration on the extractability of NaCl soluble protein differed from species. The extractability of Undaria Pinnatifide, Hizikia fusiforme, Perphyra suborbiculata, Enteromorpha linza, and Ulva pertusa reached maxima at 0.25M NaCl solution while the 1.0M for Sargassum fulvellum, Saygassum kjellmanianum and Codium coarctatum. In case of alcohol soluble proteins, it was shown at $20\%$ ethanol solution for Porphyra suborbiculata, Undaria pinnatifida, Enteromorpha linza, and Sargassum fulvellum. Variation of the ratio of sample vs solvent gave slight effect upon the extractability, but the ratio of 1:30(w/v) seemed most efficient for the extraction of NaCl soluble proteins and 100 ml solvent added to 1 g dried sample was effective in case of alcohol soluble proteins. Extraction time has a minimal effect upon the extraction of alcohol soluble protein, and approximately 21 to $43\%$ of algal protein was extracted within 1 hour. But in case of NaCl soluble protein extraction, the effect of time revealed differently from species to species resulting in that the extraction for 1 hour gave a maximum extractability in Ulva pertusa and Enteromorpha linza, 2 hours in Porphyra suborbiculata, Codium coarctatum and 3 hours in Undaria pinnatifica, Hizikia susiforme, Sargassum fulvellum and Sargassum kjellmanianum. When the NaCl soluble protein of Undaria pinnatifida and Enteromopha linza was extracted at various temperature, the most effective extraction temperature was $40^{\circ}C$ while the temperature was $50^{\circ}C$ for Undaria pinnatifida and $60^{\circ}C$ for Hixikia fusiforme, Sargassum fulvellum, Sargassum kjellmanianum and Codium coarctatum. Bus in case of alcohol soluble extraction, the optimum temperature was $30^{\circ}C$ for Enteromorpha linza and $40^{\circ}C$ for Undaria pinnatifida, Sargassum fulvellum and Porphyra suborbiculata. In the effect of pH on extractability, the maximum extractability of NaCl soluble proteins was obtained at pH 7to 8 and pH 8 to 9 for alcohol soluble protein.
