BSCCO(2223)/Ag 다심 초전도선재의 접합공정 개발 (Development of joining process of the BSCCO(2223)/Ag multi-filament tapes)

  • We jointed Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O multifilament tapes and evaluated their electrical properties. In order to improve connectivity of multifilarnents, single-filament tape was inserted between two multifilament tapes or multifilament was stepped by mechanical remove. The critical current ratio (CCR) and n-value of the jointed tapes were evaluated as a function of uniaxial pressure. It was observed that CCR and n-value were 24.8-29.0% and 2.5-2.8 for lap-jointed tape. On the other hand, the corresponding values were improved to 51.8-61.9% and 2.9-5.1 for three stepped jointed tape, and 63.4-67.9% and 3.4-4.2 for double MSM lap-jointed tape, respectively. These improvements are to be due to better interconnection between filaments of two tapes.

원심 용융 성형공정으로 제조된 BSCCO 튜브의 전기적 특성 (Electronical Property of BSCCO Tube Fabricated by Centrifugal Melting Process)

  • 전력에 큰 손실을 초래하는 고장전류를 차단하기 위한 한류기(FCL) 소재로서 고온 초전도체인 BSCCO 2212가 사용된다. 고온에서 용융된 BSCCO 2212 분말은 원심성형법에 의해 한류기용 튜브로 제조되었다. BSCCO 튜브의 기계적 특성을 높이고 용융온도를 낮추기 위해 $SrSO_4$(10wt-%)를 첨가하였다. 용탕은 $1200^{\circ}C$에서 완전히 용융되어 금속 몰드로 주입되었고 원심성형에 사용되는 금속 몰드는 $550^{\circ}C$ 온도로 2시간 예열 후 1020 ~ 2520 RPM으로 회전시켰다. 원심력에 의해 성형된 BSCCO 튜브는 약 48시간 동안 로에서 서냉 후 금속 몰드로부터 분리하였다. 튜브의 용이한 분리를 위해 이형제로서 BSCCO 2212 powder를 사용하였고 임계전류측정을 고려하여 Ag tape 단자를 튜브 끝단에 부착하였다. BSCCO 제조 공정에 있어서 몰드의 예열온도, 용융온도, 몰드 회전속도 등의 변수를 조절하여 최적의 조건을 확립하였다. 제조한 BSCCO 튜브의 임계전류($I_c$)와 임계전류밀도($J_c$)는 77K에서 536A와 $205A/cm^2$ 이었다. 본 연구에서는 BSCCO 2212 튜브를 제조하는 공정조건 변화와 각 조건에서 제조된 BSCCO 2212 튜브의 전기적 특성 및 그에 따른 분석에 대해 기술하였다.

  • Ultra fine MgO particles added BSCCO tapes were fabricated by tape casting using Doctor Blade Method and enclosed by silver foil for different starting compositions (that is, 2223 major, 2212 major). In order to obtain optimum microstructure, thermomechanical treatment was done. Microstructure and phase were analyzed by XRD, SEM and DTA. The critical current density was measured under magnetic field at 77K. The tapes fabricated from the precursor powder with BSCCO-2223 phase (>90%) result in a microstructure with a larger grain size and higher transport critical current density value under magnetic field at given thermomechanical treatment conditions.

  • BSCCO HTS(High Temperature Superconductor) could be applied to superconducting cable, magnet and motor, using its hight critical properties. Especially, superconducting cable has a hight possibility of practical use due to the possibility of low voltage and high capacity transmission caused by its lower power loss than copper cable. In this paper, the transport characteristics of BSCCO superconducting cable, according to the change of BSCCO superconducting cable's accident point at phase $0^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}C$, were analyzed and compared each other. Consequently, when the accident was occur the resistance of the HTS was higher at the point phase $0^{\circ}$ than $45^{\circ}$ which means it will cause much higher load on the HTS.

  • This paper deals with the fabrication and characteristic experiment of a high-Tc superconducting (HTSC) power supply using by Hi-2223 tape. The purpose of this research is to apply real HTSC load. This system consists of two heaters, an electromagnet, a Bi-2223 solenoid and a Bi-2223 pancake load. In the experiment, 17sec and 8.5sec were used for pumping period. Mechanism of the superconducting switch is used for heater-trigger. In experiment, the pumping-current has reached about 1.2A.

  • The effects of joining process such as contact method, shape of joined area and pressure on the properties of Bi-2223 superconducting tape have been optimized. In the process tapes were etched to expose the superconductor core in the shape of 'ㅁ' and 'ㄷ'. The exposed cores of the two tapes were brought into contact, uniaxially pressed and sintered. Subsequently, the current capacity of the joined tape was measured as a function of uniaxial pressure. It was observed that the current capacity was significantly dependent on uniaxial pressure. The joined tape, fabricated with a pressure of 1,600 MPa, showed the highest value of current capacity(90%) of highest value of current capacity is resulted from improvements in core density, contacting area and grain alignment, etc. In addition the effect of processing variables on microstructural evolution and mechanical property of joined tape will be presented.

The effect of precursor powder on the properties of BSCCO 2223 Ag-sheathed tapes

  • The BSCCO 2223 Ag-sheathed tapes were prepared with spray dried precursor powders, which are of different starting condition. The J$_c$ in the short tapes varied from 24 kA/ cm$^2$ to 47 kA/ cm$^2$ at 77K and 0T. The largely improvement of J$_c$ in certain tape, which characterized with the large textured BSCCO 2223 grains, homogeneity of reactant and fewer tracks of second phases in final superconducting matrixes, could be due to optimization in the precursor powder.

  • Racetrack coils are used in many areas of superconductivity applications such as generators, motors, maglev, wiggler magnets and so on. Especially now a days a few advanced nations including U.S., Japan are developing high temperature superconducting(HTS) wire which has better performance than low temperature superconducting(LTS) wire. Most of HTS wires such as BSCCO-2223 are manufactured with PIT(Power In Tube) process, so the shape of the wire looks like tape different from LTS wire with round cross-sectional appearance like normal conductors. Generally HTS racetrack coils are composed of a few partial double-pancake colis and then the double-pancakes are jointed each other according to their applications.

  • The AC losses of BSCCO-2223 multifilamentary superconducting tapes were measured using magnetization method and compared with the results of theoretically calculated values. In general, AC losses in multifilamentary superconducting tapes could be quantitatively explained by the simple sum of the Hysteresis and Coupling Loss. As a result of experiment, We found that AC losses of multifilamentary superconducting tape increase rapidly in large magnetic field region.

Total AC Loss by simultaneously applied AC transport current and AC external magnetic field in BSCCO Tape

  • Transport current and magnetic field which is generated by transport current make AC current - AC mag-netic field condition(AC-AC condition) in AC power application system using HTS tape. Therefore, characteristics of AC loss under the AC-AC condition are necessary to estimate AC loss of power device with accuracy such as HTS transformer. In this paper, we researched transport current loss, magnetization loss by perpendicular magnetic field and total loss which is represented as summation of both losses under the AC-AC condition in single HTS tape. As a result, magnetization loss showed increasing behavior under 65mT and decreasing behavior upper 65mT by influence of transport current. Transport current loss was increased continuously through out whole measurement ranges in the AC-AC condition. Total loss in HTS tape was dominated entirely by magnetization loss.
