  • This study analyzed the characteristics and categories of blog contents from list of blogs in 22 academic libraries in Korea and 11 academic libraries in USA. The findings indicated that the majority of blog contents in domestic libraries are used for announcements, events, and general information while international libraries use professional information and general information evenly. In addition, this study showed the international libraries use the various types of information including podcasts and videocast, and images while domestic libraries use document formats and link types mainly. The results can be used to develop effective and useful contents for academic digital libraries.

  • On a huge space of information called the Internet, users can use a smart mobile web to get information on various intellectual fields and can access to various Medias such as personal blogs and social networking sites (SNS). This is why a vast amount of information on the web has been effectively managed and researched nowadays through a technology named Semantic Web. However, it still needs for an improvement for studies on searching for intellectual information, though it is enhanced to integrate variously spread information and search for intellectual information user-oriented. Thus, this study aims to research on searching information and knowledge spread around a knowledge-filled information space, which can improve credibility according to user-oriented logic.

  • Sentiment analysis or opinion mining is a technique of text mining employed to identify subjective information or opinions of an individual from documents in blogs, reviews, articles, or social networks. In the literature, only a problem of binary classification of ratings based on review texts in an online review. However, because there can be positive or negative reviews as well as neutral reviews, a multi-class classification will be more appropriate than the binary classification. To this end, we consider the multi-class classification of ratings based on review texts. In the preprocessing stage, we extract words related with ratings using chi-square statistic. Then the extracted words are used as input variables to multi-class classifiers such as support vector machines and proportional odds model to compare their predictive performances.

  • Use of XML data has been increased with growth of Web 2.0 environment. XML is recognized its advantages by using based technology of RSS or ATOM for transferring information from blogs and news feed. Bitmap clustering is a method to keep index in main memory based on Relational DBMS, and which performed better than the other XML indexing methods during the evaluation. Existing method generates too many clusters, and it causes deterioration of result of searching quality. This paper proposes k-Bitmap clustering method that can generate user defined k clusters to solve above-mentioned problem. The proposed method also keeps additional inverted index for searching excluded terms from representative bits of k-Bitmap. We performed evaluation and the result shows that the users can control the number of clusters. Also our method has high recall value in single term search, and it guarantees the searching result includes all related documents for its query with keeping two indices.

  • The aim of this paper is to improve the usability of Mobile Maps by allowing more people to use. To figure out better UX/UI, I evaluated usability for Mobile Applications from various materials such as literatures and blogs for qualitative methods and interviews and questionnaires about satisfaction of Naver and Daum for quantitative methods. So, We know that a map app is important and it is affected by force and profile on the portal site than its own features, because, not often in everyday life. Even though people do not use Mobile Map Applications frequently, we need to improve usability to make anybody use them easily by minimizing depth and button designs.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of Personal Mobile Broadcasting Service which bases on embedded Linux and it supports personal broadcasting in wireless network environments. Recently, with the advent of various wireless networks and the increased use of high performance mobile devices, the demand for personal mobile broadcasting is being increased. The personal mobile broadcasting service makes it possible that mobile users create contents using their own mobile devices while they are moving or they are in any place. And then, it sends the created contents to server in real-time where their blogs are. Users connected to the content creator's blog can play the contents in real-time. With the implemented personal mobile broadcasting service, mobile users can share multimedia contents in real-time through wireless networks. And, it also helps users to construct their own broadcasting stations where they can broadcast the scene of the accident or public performance in real-time.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel scheme for product effect analysis, termed PEM, to find out the effectiveness of products used for improving the current condition, such as health supplements and cosmetics, by utilizing online customer reviews. The proposed technique preprocesses online customer reviews to remove advertisements automatically, constructs the word dictionary composed of symptoms, effects, increases, and decreases, and measures products' effects from online customer reviews. Using Naver Shopping Review datasets collected through crawling, we evaluated the performance of PEM compared to those of two methods using traditional sentiment dictionary and an RNN model, respectively. Our experimental results shows that the proposed technique outperforms the other two methods. In addition, by applying the proposed technique to the online customer reviews of atopic dermatitis and acne, effective treatments for them were found appeared on online social media. The proposed product effect analysis technique presented in this paper can be applied to various products and social media because it can score the effect of products from reviews of various media including blogs.

  • This study seeks a method to objectively evaluate sensibility based on Big Data in the field of design. In order to do so, this study examined the sensibility responses on design factors for the public through a network analysis of texts displayed in social media. 'Hanbok', a formal clothing that represents Korea, was selected as the subject for the research methodology. We then collected 47,677 keywords related to Hanbok from 12,000 posts on Naver blogs from January $1^{st}$ to December $31^{st}$ 2015 and that analyzed using social matrix (a Big Data analysis software) rather than using previous survey methods. We also derived 56 key-words related to design elements and sensibility responses of Hanbok. Centrality analysis and CONCOR analysis were conducted using Ucinet6. The visualization of the network text analysis allowed the categorization of the main design factors of Hanbok with evaluation terms that mean positive, negative, and neutral sensibility responses. We also derived key evaluation factors for Hanbok as fitting, rationality, trend, and uniqueness. The evaluation terms extracted based on natural language processing technologies of atypical data have validity as a scale for evaluation and are expected to be suitable for utilization in an index for sensibility evaluation that supplements the limits of previous surveys and statistical analysis methods. The network text analysis method used in this study provides new guidelines for the use of Big Data involving sensibility evaluation methods in the field of design.

  • The Learning Models including the design principle about web 2.0 use in education has been recently presented. In types of web 2.0 tools, blogs are the best tool that reflected the trends of web 2.0 and these are able to share a lot of information and contents. To invent new learning methods involving web 2.0, this study aims to get the results about effectiveness of learning performance on a supplementary learning tool based on blog using learner-centric UI/UX design in higher education. As a study tool, installation-type blog that can be designed as user-centric system is applied to experimental environment. This study presents the conclusion that supplementary learning tool based on blog using learner-centric UI/UX design influences on learning achievement and learning flow through the analysis of questionnaire results of learners, learning evaluation score of learners and assignments evaluation score of learners.

  • The independent cascade model has been widely used to analyze information diffusion in the blog world. In this paper, we propose a new method to construct a blog network for applying the independent cascade model to analyzing of information diffusion in a blog world. To construct a blog network, the proposed method establishes the edge between two users and calculates diffusion probabilities between them by analyzing the activities happened between two users. To calculate diffusion probabilities, the method exploits the ratio of the number of documents actually diffused to a specific user to that of documents written for the purpose of being diffused to other blogs. The experimental result using a real world blog data demonstrates that our method reflects actual information diffusion in a blog world better than existing ones.
