  • Quantity information focused on a design drawing plays a critical role in a decision making related to cost for project participants during project life cycles. Related participants absolutely depend on quantity take-off working which produces the quantity information by hand, and then a worker's mistake often causes many errors. The difference of quantity by the know-how of the person in charge of the estimation also occurs. In addition, the worker passes through the whole quantity take-off processes again in case of re-working for quantity take-off produced by a change order. The requirements about the automated estimation increase because of the needs for the accurate quantity take-off and dealing with the change order and recently, the studies about the automated estimation working process based on 34 cad model from 3d cad modeler are attempted in various viewpoints. However, the existing studies reach the limits such as common quantity data type framework for getting Quantity information. Focused on a certain 34 cad modeler and BIM based automation of estimation using it Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop the a series of system which can extract, analyze, and verify Quantity Data Type in modeler to automate quantity take-off originated from various 3d cad modelers as a foundation study for BIM based automation of estimation framework.

  • 본 논문에서는 사례연구를 통하여 RC구조 BIM에서의 물량정보 획득의 효율성을 분석하고 이를 기반으로 BIM 프로세스 환경에서의 철근 및 콘크리트 물량산출을 위한 데이터베이스를 구축하여 현장 시공단계에서의 공정 및 물량관리의 협업단계를 가능하도록 하는 철근 Sorting 시스템에 대한 연구를 목적으로 한다. 기존의 건설, 건축분야에서의 정보는 기호적 언어와 2차원 기반의 도면 정보체계를 통해 표현되었지만, BIM 기술을 통해 건물의 실제 형상과 정보를 가지는 3차원 기반의 정보체계로의 변화와 함께 컴퓨터 데이터베이스 내에서 프로젝트에 포함된 모든 정보를 저장하고, 다양한 형태로 필요에 따라 정보를 표현할 수 있게 변화하고 있다. 견적 및 시공을 위한 RC구조설계단계에서의 배근 모델은 협업을 위한 객체 정보의 획득 및 추출이 중요하지만 현재 상용되고 있는 BIM도구에서는 현재까지 미흡한 체계를 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 구조설계를 기반으로 배근된 BIM 구조모델 사례를 통하여 기존 BIM도구에서의 물량 정보획득 효율성 분석을 기반으로 객체들의 데이터베이스 구축을 통한 철근 Sorting 시스템 구축 연구를 통하여 협업단계에서의 체계적 물량정보 관리를 가능하도록 하였다.

  • There exists no precedented case of quantity take-off, using parametric modeling, from BIM-based irregular structures. Civil 3D provides earthwork quantity take-off based on surface modeling. Generally, designers should enter data into the specification additionally after extracting quantity estimation from earthwork modeling design. The objective of this report is to suggest the method from quantity take-off to specification of BIM-based earthwork quantities. We intend to investigate earthwork take-off method by Civil3D and explain why parametric information extraction is required for quantity estimation and specification and how information of earthwork quantity based on solid and surface modeling is connected to open quantity take-off module. It is highly expected that this suggestion would be the practical methodology of earthwork quantity take-off and specification in the field of civil engineering.

  • The construction progress control is very important because there are many unexpected factors affecting time schedule delay and cost overruns. A complicated measure including item quantity and inherent time and costs is used to monitor the progress. Another element to be considered is a productivity, which is cost effectiveness because productivity is primarily measured by the costs. Productivity is stated as constant in-place value divided by inputs such as worker-hour. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the productivity of structural formwork using a 3D BIM. In order to achieve the research objective, an integrated model of a BIM with a daily foreman's report is developed. The quantities being extracted from a 3D model and information are integrated with manpower utilized. The developed model is applied to a case project to measure and analyze the productivity in terms of individual building and work crew team. The results are discussed and further research topics will be addressed.

  • In the meantime, looking at the present status of how to estimationte the quantity of rebar based on 3D BIM getting the limelight in these days, commercial BIM tools provide rebar modeling functions however it takes a vast amount of modeling time for modeling of rebar in use of that function hence there is no BIM software at present for practical use. Therefore, in this study, we organized and presented a practical rebar quantity estimationtion process in BIM-based design work-site and intended to develop a program named Rebar Automatic Arrangement Program - hereinafter called RAAP - which enables automatic rebar arrangement based on much more precise cross-sectional information of bars in column, beam, slab and wall than the one from existing 2D method under the conditions without any cross-sectional information in the initial design phase. In addition, we intended to establish rebar quantity estimationtion process in the initial design phase through interworking of modeling & quantity estimationtion functions in consideration of joint, anchoring length of BuilderHUB as a BIM software with RAAP. The results from this study are practical in developing a technology that is able to estimationte quantity with more improved reliability than the one from existing 2D-based methods with less effort when the quantity of framework is estimationted in the uncompleted state of cross-sectional design for structural members in the initial design phase of a construction project. And it is expected that it could be utilized as a basic study from which a reasonable quantity estimationtion program can be established in the initial design phase.

  • Currently, various studies and applications related BIM based quantity take-off have been attempted, because of the accuracy of cost estimating and reliability by using the BIM model information in automatical calculation. Finishing works that have a large number of various types and materials need the higher accuracy and reliability on the BIM-based quantity take-off. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed 2D and 3D based quantity through Test-bed and determine the cause of the quantity difference. This verified the accuracy and efficiency in the BIM-based quantity take-off for finishing works. Also this study has been proposed opinions for calculating the exact BIM-based quantity take-off.

  • Estimates based on BIM makes it possible to perform from quantity take-off to construction cost estimates by using model, which is made in the phase of design and construction. As the BIM models are made up of the units of element, there an advantage of the automative quantity take-off, if the correction or change of element occurs. Work items, not included in the elements of the BIM model, are excepted from bill of quantity. Level of detail(LoD) of the BIM model can be improved for detailed estimates, but an excessive modeling for estimates is inefficient. This study presents the measure for selection and quantity take-off of work items, those are not expressed in the BIM model. The proposed method avoids the creation of excessive BIM Models and enables quantity take-off in conjunction with the element.
