Band-Gap Energy and Thermoelectric Properties of 90% $Bi_2Te_3-10% Bi_2Se_3$ Single Crystals (90% $Bi_2Te_3-10% Bi_2Se_3$ 단결정의 밴드갭 에너지와 열전특성)

  • The temperature dependences of the Hall coefficient, carrier mobility, electrical resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, thermal conductivity, and figure-of-merit of the undoped and $CdI_2$-doped 90% $Bi_2Te_3-10% Bi_2Se_3$, single crystals, grown by the Bridgman method, have been characterized at temperatures ranging from 77K to 600K. The saturated carrier concentration and degenerate temperature of the undoped 90% $Bi_2Te_3-10% Bi_2Se_3$ single crystal are $5.85\times10_{18}cm^{-3}$ and 127K, respectively. The scattering parameter of the 90% $Bi_2Te_3-10% Bi_2Se_3$ single crystal is determined to b -0.23, and the electron mobility to hole mobility ratio ($\mu_e/\mu_h)$ is 1.45. The bandgap energy at 0K of the 90% <$Bi_2Te_3-10% Bi_2Se_3$ single crystal is 0.200 eV. Adding $CdI_2$as a donor dopant, a maximum figure-of-merit of $3.2\times10^{-3}/K$$CdI_2$-doped specimen.

Effect of Aging treatment and Epoxy on Bonding Strength of Sn-58Bi solder and OSP-finished PCB (Sn-58Bi Solder와 OSP 표면 처리된 PCB의 접합강도에 미치는 시효처리와 에폭시의 영향)

  • Among various lead-free solders, the Sn-58Bi solders have been considered as a highly promising lead-free solders because of its low melting temperature and high tensile strength. However, Sn-58Bi solder has the poor ductility. To enhance the mechanical property of Sn-58Bi solder, epoxy-enhanced Sn-58Bi solders have been studied. This study compared the microstructures and the mechanical properties of Sn-58Bi solder and Sn-58Bi epoxy solder with aging treatment. The solders ball were formed on the printed circuit board (PCB) with organic solderability preservative (OSP) surface finish, and then the joints were aged at 85, 95, 105 and $115^{\circ}C$ for up to 100, 300, 500 and 1000 hours. The shear test was conducted to evaluate the mechanical property of the solder joints. $Cu_6Sn_5$ intermetallic compound (IMC) layer grew with increasing aging time and temperature. The IMC layer for the Sn-58Bi epoxy solder was thicker than that for the Sn-58Bi solder. According to result of shear test, the shear strength of Sn-58Bi epoxy solder was higher than that of Sn-58Bi solder and the shear strength decreased with increasing aging time.

Study on the deposition Characteristics of Bi Thin Film (Bi 박막의 성막 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents Bi thin films have been fabricated by atomic layer-by-layer deposition and co-deposition at an IBS method. The growth rates of the films was set in the region from 0.17 to 0.27 nm/min. MgO(l00) was used as a substrate. In order to appreciate stable existing region of Bi 2212 phase with temperature and ozone pressure, the substrate temperature was varied between 655 and 820 $^{\circ}C$ and the highly condensed ozone gas pressure(PO$_3$) in vacuum chamber was varied between 2.0$\times$10$^{-6}$ and 2.3$\times$10$^{-5}$ Torr. Bi 2212 phase appeared in the temperature range of 750 and 795$^{\circ}C$ and single phase of Bi 2201 existed in the lower region than 785 $^{\circ}C$. Whereas, PO$_3$ dependance on structural formation was scarcely observed regardless of the pressure variation. And high quality of c-axis oriented Bi 2212 thin film with T$_{c}$(onset) of about 90 K and T$_{c}$(zero) of about 45 K is obtained. Only a small amount of CuO in some films was observed as impurity, and no impurity phase such as CaCuO$_2$ was observed in all of the obtained films.lms.

Role of the $Bi_2O_3\;in\;SrBi_2TaNbO_9/Bi_2O_3/SrBi_2TaNbO_9$ Heterostructure and Low Temperature Annealing Property

  • Ferroelectric properties of $SrBi_2TaNbO_9$ (SBTN) thin films were changed by the amount of Bi content in SBTN. We suggested that the addition of excess Bi into the films could be accomplished by heat-treating $SBTN/Bi_2O_3/SBTN$ heterostructure fabricated by r.f. magnetron sputtering method. Excess Bi composition was controlled by the thickness of the sandwiched $Bi_2O_3$ from 0 to $400\;\AA$. When the SBTN thin films were inserted by $400\;{\AA}\;Bi_2O_3$ layer, $Bi_2Pt$ phase was formed as a second phase in SBTN films, resulting in poor ferroelectric properties. The onset temperature for hysteresis loop can be reduced by heat treating $SBTN/Bi_2O_3/SBTN$ heterostructure. The films with $SBTN/Bi_2O_3(100\;{\AA})/SBTN$ hetero-structure followed by annealing at $650^{\circ}C$ for 30 min show 2Pr and Ec of $5.66\;{\mu}C/\textrm{cm}^2$ and 54 kV/cm, respectively.

  • $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_x$(Bi-2212) and $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y$(Bi-2223) high-Tc superconductors(HTS) have been manufactured by plasma spraying, partial melt process(PMP) and annealing treatment(AT). A Bi-2212/2223 HTS coating layer was synthesized through the peritectic reaction between a 0212 oxide coating layer and 2001 oxide coating layer by the PMP-AT process. The 2212 HTS layer consists of whiskers grown in the diffusion direction. The Bi-2223 phase and secondary phase in the Bi-2212 layer were observed. The secondary phase was distributed uniformly over the whole layer. As annealing time goes on, the Bi-2212 phase decreases with mis-orientation and irregular shape, but the Bi-2223 phase increases because a new Bi-2223 phase is formed inside the pre-existing Bi-2212 crystals, and because of the nucleation of a Bi-2223 phase at the edge of Bi-2212 crystals by diffusion of Ca and Cu-O bilayers. In this study the spray coated layer showed superconducting transitions with an onset Tc of about both 115 K, and 50 K. There were two steps. Step 1 at 115 K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2223 phase and step 2 at 50 K is due to the diamagnetism of the Bi-2212 phase.

  • From the notion of bi-ideals in near-rings, various generalizations of regularity conditions have been studied. In this paper, we generalize further the notion of bi-ideals and introduce the notion of weak bi-ideals in near-rings and obtain some characterizations using this concept in left self distributive near-rings.

Three phases of Bi2201, Bi2212 and Bi2223 appear as stable ones in spite of the condition for thin film fabrication of Bi2212 and bi2223 compositions, depending on substrate temperature(T$\sub$sub/) and ozone pressure (PO$_3$). It is found out that these phases show similar T$\sub$sub/ and PO$_3$dependence, and that the stable regions of these phases are limited within very narrow temperature.

  • Two kinds of Bi2Te3 powders, pure Bi2Te3/2vol.%ZrO2, have been prepared by a mechanical grinding process process. Effect of mixing of the powders on thermoelectric of the sintered body has been investigated by measuring Seebeck Coeffcient, specific electric resistivity and thermal conductivity. With an increase in the weight fraction of the Bi2Te3/2vol.%ZrO2 powder from 0 to 40wt.%. Especially, the figure of merit of the mixedBi2Te3 sintered body increases and thereafter dedreases above 40wt.%. Especially. the figure of merit of the mixed Bi2Te3 sintered bodies with mixing of Bi2Te3/2vol.%ZrO2 powder increased about 1.3time in comparison with the value of the specimen before mixing. Mixing of two kinds of Bi2Te3 powders which have different theramal and electric propertries with each other seemed to be useful methob to increase the figure of merit of Bi2Te3 sintered body.
