Usage of auxiliary variable and neural network in doubly robust estimation

  • If the regression model or the propensity model is correct, the unbiasedness of the estimator using doubly robust imputation can be guaranteed. Using a neural network instead of a logistic regression model for the propensity model, the estimators using doubly robust imputation are approximately unbiased even though both assumed models fail. We also propose a doubly robust estimator of ratio form using population information of an auxiliary variable. We prove some properties of proposed theory by restricted simulations.

Ratio Cum Regression Estimator for Estimating a Population Mean with a Sub Sampling of Non Respondents

  • In the present study, a combined ratio cum regression estimator is proposed to estimate the population mean of the study variable in the presence of a non-response using an auxiliary variable under double sampling. The expressions of bias and mean squared error(MSE) based on the proposed estimator is derived under double (or two stage) sampling to the first degree of approximation. Some estimators are also derived from the proposed class by allocating the suitable values of constants used. A comparison of the proposed estimator with the usual unbiased estimator and other derived estimators is carried out. An empirical study is carried out to demonstrate the performance of the suggested estimator and of others; it is endow that the empirical results backing the theoretical study.

  • This article addresses the problem of estimating a family of general population parameter ${\theta}_{({\alpha},{\beta})}$ using auxiliary information in the presence of measurement errors. The general results are then applied to estimate the coefficient of variation $C_Y$ of the study variable Y using the knowledge of the error variance ${\sigma}^2{_U}$ associated with the study variable Y, Based on large sample approximation, the optimal conditions are obtained and the situations are identified under which the proposed class of estimators would be better than conventional estimator. Application of the main result to bivariate normal population is illustrated.

  • Recently, the stationary discontinuous armature Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PM-LSM) was suggested as a driving source for long-distance transportation system. However, as these motors arrange armatures discontinuously, there occurs an edge which causes the cogging force. This works as a factor that bothers acceleration and deceleration that takes place when movers enter into and eject from the armatures. Therefore, installation of auxiliary teeth on the edge of armature of PM-LSM is suggested in order to reduce cogging force caused by the edge when the armature is placed in a discontinuous arrangement. But length of auxiliary teeth can be changed if install it with auxiliary pole in order to decrease more and more edge cogging force. On this, in the study, decided on a design variable of auxiliary teeth and used 2-D FEA, and examined edge cogging force characteristic along this in order to grasp length of auxiliary teeth changed according to installation positions of an auxiliary pole.

  • In this paper we suggest the new calibration estimator, which is called to the recalibration estimator, and its variance estimator using two-phase sampling technique according to the auxiliary information having strong correlation with the variable of interest under the unit nonresponse. In this unit nonresponse situation, an available information may exists at the level of whole population or the first-phase sample. The proposed recalibration estimator derives from the first and second phase weights respectively.

  • Vector control of a single phase induction machine(SPIM) is usually employed by mechanical methods than electrical ones. The disadvantage of a SPIM has large noise at the starting. Using auxiliary winding which is only utilized for starting, the SPIM can be controlled with the vector control method. Regarding a auxiliary winding one phase, the SPIM is analyzed by the unsymmetrical two phase motor and phase transformation is unnecessary such as three phase IM. Including a auxiliary winding, SPIM is modeled by mathematical getting by component of turns ratio with main to auxiliary winding. It will be take with complicated resultant formula, by comparison to symmetrical three phase TM. For using the vector control theory, it must be decoupled of rotor flux and torque component. stator current is controlled and decoupled. This paper presents a variable-speed control system of SPIM, which to decoupled with flux and torque component and to use machine equivalent circuit referred to rotor, conventionally three phase IM by similar method.

  • In this paper we have suggested a family of chain estimators of the population mean $\bar{Y}$ of a study variate y using two auxiliary variates in two phase (double) sampling assuming that the coefficient of variation of the second auxiliary variable is known. It is well known that chain estimators are traditionally formulated when the population mean $\bar{X}_1$ of one of the two auxiliary variables, say $x_1$, is not known but the population mean $\bar{X}_2$ of the other auxiliary variate $x_2$ is available and $x_1$ has higher degree of positive correlation with the study variate y than $x_2$ has with y, $x_2$ being closely related to $x_1$. Here the classes are constructed when the population mean $\bar{X}_1\;of\;X_1$ is not known and the coefficient of variation $C_{x2}\;of\;X_2$ is known instead of population mean $\bar{X}_2$. Asymptotic expressions for the bias and mean square error (MSE) of the suggested family have been obtained. An asymptotic optimum estimator (AOE) is also identified with its MSE formula. The optimum sample sizes of the preliminary and final samples have been derived under a linear cost function. An empirical study has been carried out to show the superiority of the constructed estimator over others.

Dynamic analysis of rigid roadway pavement under moving traffic loads with variable velocity

  • The study of rigid roadway pavement under dynamic traffic loads with variable velocity is investigated in this paper. Rigid roadway pavement is modeled as a rectangular damped orthotropic plate supported by elastic Pasternak foundation. The boundary supports of the plate are the steel dowels and tie bars which provide elastic vertical support and rotational restraint. The natural frequencies of the system and the mode shapes are solved using two transcendental equations, obtained from the solution of two auxiliary Levy's type problems, known as the Modified Bolotin Method. The dynamic moving traffic load is expressed as a concentrated load of harmonically varying magnitude, moving straight along the plate with a variable velocity. The dynamic response of the plate is obtained on the basis of orthogonality properties of eigenfunctions. Numerical example results show that the velocity and the angular frequency of the loads affected the maximum dynamic deflection of the rigid roadway pavement. It is also shown that a critical speed of the load exists. If the moving traffic load travels at critical speed, the rectangular plate becomes infinite in amplitude.

A Proprietary Model of Continuously Variable Transmission System using Spline

  • In each country, efforts are being made to replace engine-driven cars and motorcycles using fossil fuels with electric drive. Electrically driven vehicles have the advantage of no harmful gas or environmental pollution and low noise. In the motorcycle market, China accounts for more than 95% of the world, and the electric motorcycle market is being revitalized due to the strengthening of regulations. Japan is actively preparing to include electric motorcycles in ISO 26262, forming a TF team centered on electric motorcycle producers. Therefore, it is necessary to respond to standardization targeting China and Japan in Korea. In this study, we propose a proprietary transmission model that can be applied to small electric vehicles that can be operated in hilly domestic terrain. The proposed continuously variable transmission model is a continuously variable transmission system which moves the pin between the basic disk and the rotary disk using a spline to perform shifting. The proposed continuously variable transmission model is used in the pulley configuration by connecting the linear type spline and the inclined spline with the central axis of the basic disk and the rotational disk, respectively. In addition, it can be divided into two types according to the application of the auxiliary disk, and the production drawing is completed for the practical use of the model.

Pliable regression spline estimator using auxiliary variables

  • We conducted a study on a regression spline estimator with a few pre-specified auxiliary variables. For the implementation of the proposed estimators, we adapted a coordinate descent algorithm. This was implemented by considering a structure of the sum of the residuals squared objective function determined by the B-spline and the auxiliary coefficients. We also considered an efficient stepwise knot selection algorithm based on the Bayesian information criterion. This was to adaptively select smoothly functioning estimator data. Numerical studies using both simulated and real data sets were conducted to illustrate the proposed method's performance. An R software package psav is available.
