  • In this article we show that a class of random coefficient autoregressive processes including the NEAR (New exponential autoregressive) process has the strong mixing property in the sense of Rosenblatt with mixing order decaying to zero. The result can be used to construct model free prediction interval for the future observation in the NEAR processes.

  • This paper is concerned with an estimation problem for the AR(1) process $Y_t, t=0, {\pm}1, {\cdots}$with time carying autoregressive coefficient, where coefficient itself is also stochastic process. Attention is directed to the problem of finding a consistent estimator of ${\Phi}$, the mean level of autoregressive coefficient. The asymptotic distribution of the resulting consistent estimator of ${\Phi}$, is them discussed. We do not assume any time series model for the time varying autoregressive coefficient.

  • This paper deals with the problem of estimating the autoregressive random coefficient of a first-order random coefficient autoregressive time series model applied to panel data of time series. The autoregressive random coefficients across individual units are assumed to be a random sample from a truncated normal distribution with the space (-1, 1) for stationarity. The estimates of random coefficients are obtained by an empirical Bayes procedure using the estimates of model parameters. Also, a Monte Carlo study is conducted to support the estimation procedure proposed in this paper. Finally, we apply our results to the economic panel data in Liu and Tiao(1980).

  • In financial economics studies, the autoregressive model has been a workhorse for a long time. However, the model has a fixed value on every parameter and requires the stationarity assumptions. Time-varying coefficient autoregressive model that we use in this paper offers some desirable benefits over the traditional model such as the parameters are allowed to be varied over-time and can be applies to non-stationary financial data. This paper provides the Monte Carlo simulation studies which show that the model can capture the dynamic movement of parameters very well, even though, there are some sudden changes or jumps. For the daily data from January 1, 2015 to February 12, 2020, our paper provides the empirical studies that Thailand, Taiwan and Tokyo Stock market Index can be explained very well by the time-varying coefficient autoregressive model with lag order one while South Korea's stock index can be explained by the model with lag order three. We show that the model can unveil the non-linear shape of the estimated mean. We employ GJR-GARCH in the condition variance equation and found the evidences that the negative shocks have more impact on market's volatility than the positive shock in the case of South Korea and Tokyo.

  • To estimate coefficient matrix in autoregressive model, usually ordinary least squares estimator or unconditional maximum likelihood estimator is used. It is unknown that for univariate AR(p) model, unconditional maximum likelihood estimator gives better power property that ordinary least squares estimator in testing for unit root with mean estimated. When autoregressive model contains multiple unit roots and unconditional likelihood function is used to estimate coefficient matrix, the seperation of nonstationary part and stationary part of the eigen-values in the estimated coefficient matrix in the limit is developed. This asymptotic property may give an idea to test for multiple unit roots.

  • We consider the subdiagonal bilinear model and ARMA model with subdiagonal bilinear errors. Sufficient conditions for geometric ergodicity of associated Markov chains are derived by using results on generalized random coefficient autoregressive models and then strict stationarity and ,a-mixing property with exponential decay rates for given processes are obtained.

  • We consider a subdiagonal bilinear model and give sufficient conditions for the associated Markov chain defined by Pham (1985) to be uniformly ergodic and then obtain the $\beta$-mixing property for the given process. To derive the desired properties, we employ the results of generalized random coefficient autoregressive models generated by a matrix-valued polynomial function and vector-valued polynomial function.

  • We consider nonstationary autoregressive autoregressive process with infinite variance of error. In the case of infinite cariance, the limiting distribution of the estimated coefficient is different from that under the finite cariance assumption. In this paper we show that the bootstrap method can be used to approximate the distribution of ordinary least squares estimator of the coefficient in the first order random walk process with infinite variance through some empirical studies and we suggest a test procedure based on bootstrap method for the unit root test.

  • The asymptotic distribution of residual autocorrelation functions from a generalized p-order random coefficient autoregressive process (GRCA(p)) is derived. To this end, we first describe the GRCA(p) models and then consider the normalised residuals after fitting the model. This result can be applied to the residual analysis for the diagonostic purpose.
