  • With the growing traffic density and increasing comfort requirements, the automation of the drive train will gain importance in vehicles. The automatic clutch actuation relieves the drivers especially in urban driving and stop-and-go traffic conditions. In this paper, an electro-mechanical actuator for clutch-by-wire (CBW) system is implemented as the first stage for the development of automated manual transmissions. The prototype of CBW actuator is designed systematically, which is composed of the electric motor, worm & worm wheel and crank mechanism. And the test rig is developed to perform the basic function test for the automatic clutch actuation. The developed prototype is validated by the experimental results on the test rig.

  • In this work, we investigated the etching characteristics of TaNO thin films and the selectivity of TaNO to $SiO_2$ in an $O_2$/CF4/Ar inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system. The maximum etch rate of TaNO thin film was 297.1 nm/min at a gas mixing ratio of O2/CF4/Ar (6:16:4 sccm). At the same time, the etch rate was measured as a function of the etching parameters, such as the RF power, DC-bias voltage, and process pressure. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed the efficient destruction of the oxide bonds by the ion bombardment, as well as the accumulation of low volatile reaction products on the etched surface. Based on these data, the ion-assisted chemical reaction was proposed as the main etch mechanism for the $CF_4$-containing plasmas.

  • This paper presents the development of intelligent performance management of computer communication networks for larger-scale integrated systems and the demonstration of its efficacy using computer simula- tion. The innermost core of the performance management is based on fuzzy set theory. This fuzzy perfor- mance manager has learning ability by using principles of neuro-fuzzy model, neuralnetwork, genetic algo- rithm(GA). Two types of performance managers are described in this paper. One is the Neuro-Fuzzy Per- formance Manager(NFPM) of which learning ability is based on the conventional gradient method, and the other is GA-based Neuro-Fuzzy Performance Manager(GNFPM)with its learning ability based on a genetic algorithm. These performance managers have been evaluated via discrete event simulation of a computer network.

  • PLC(programmable Logic Controller)s essential components of modern automation systems encompassing almost every industry. Ladder Diagrams (LD) have been widely used in the design of such PLC since the LD is suitable for the modeling of the sequential control system. However, the synthesis of LD itself mainly depends on the experience of the industrial engineer, which may results in unstructured or inflexible design. Hence, in this paper, we propose a ladder diagram conversion algorithm which systematically produces LDs for PLCs based on discrete event models to enhance the structured and flexible design mechanism.

  • Metaphor has been regarded as a simple methods for decorating languages for a long time, nowadays it has important role in creative thinking. Designers have had used metaphoric thoughts in art work design and architectural design as well as writers. But designers and art critics have not recognize its importance, in addition research about metaphor specially in design have not even started yet in any design areas. This research is on the line of studying automation design by explain mechanism of metaphoric design regarded as black box. Ronchamp Chapel design by Le Corbusier has been analyzed and some metaphoric processes has been logically described. In this process, properties of sound are transferred and used as window design to control lights.

  • In this paper general purpose voltage source inverter drives are equipped with an under-voltage protection mechanism, causing the system to shut down within a few milliseconds after a power interruption in the main input sources. When a power interruption occurs finish, if the system is a large inertia restarting the load a long time is required. This paper suggests modifications in the control algorithm in order to improve the sag ride-through performance of ac inverter. The new proposed strategy recommends maintaining the DC-link voltage constant at the nominal value during a sag control algorithm, experimental results are presented.

  • ZigBee Network is enabling technology for home automation, surveillance and monitoring system. For better secure network environment, secure and robust security model is important. The paper proposes an application, attribute-based proxy re-encryption on ZigBee networks. The method can distribute the authority to designated sensor nodes to decrypt re-encrypted ciphertext with associated attributes. However, a previous method is required to compute complex pairing operations. The high complexity is not suited to low resource device sensor networks, and it does not provide routing security either. To resolve these problems, we present a novel mechanism. The method can reduce overhead by imposing overhead to full function devices and ensure routing paths as well.

  • This paper focuses on development of a performance manager for IEEE 802.4 token bus networks to serve large-scale integrated systems. In order to construct the management algorithm, the principles of fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm, and neural network have been combined to represent human knowledge and to imitate of human inference mechanism. Through the simulation experiments, it is shown that the proposed performance manager is capable of improving the network performance without a priori knowledge.

  • This paper presents a recoil and counter recoil motion measurement system using linear variable differential transformers (LVDT). The output of the LVDT is obtained from the differential voltage of the secondary transformers. Since a transducer core is attached to the motion body, the output is directly proportional to the movement length of the core. Displacement, velocity and acceleration are measured from the LVDT. With a comparison between the measurement result and the reference value obtained by the highly accurate Vernier calipers, it is proved that the measurement system with the LVDT is applicable to the test of the moving part of the mechanism with better accuracy.

  • A 2-dimensional scanner have been generally used for an office, but 3-dimensional one was seldom used in industry. A footwear bonding process has been operated manually by the skilled operators, but it is needed to be operated automatically. So we developed an automatic outsole profile scanner, which consists of PC, CCD camera, laser beam diode and moving mechanism, to scan automatically the 3-dimensional profile of outsole inner face to be bonded. Here the developed algorithm makes 2D image into 3D outsole profile. This profile will be used enough to bond automatically the outsole to something like leather or clothes.
